My advice would be to forget about TSM completely for now. You don't need it. The original tracks comprise a DAT file and a WAD file. 1. Create a folder called MyCircuits or whatever 2. Now, for each track create a sub-folder and put those two files in it 3. Now use the GPxTrack tab in GPxPatch to tell the game where each track can be found. (You only need to tell it about the DAT -by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Press 8 on your keyboard a few times. It cycles, you see?by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Because the author of the mod sets up the menu you see in the game, assuming that you'll download and install the tracks.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Mods do not usually contain tracks; only cars. To install new cars, you can use CSM, which installs a 'carset' (xxx.cuh), or you can install them one by one. To change the tracks you can either use a trackpack (xxx.tuh), which has all the tracks used in a season, or you can install the tracks one by one. There are docs in the FAQ section telling you how to do all these things.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Slasher Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You learn something new everyday ! Well in that case I should probably correct a small mistake then! I said above the desc=74 adjusts the game clock; but that's not actually true. Desc=74 DOES tell the game what constitutes a lap in multiplayer mode, but it's desc=75 that actually adjusts the game clby Noog - Grand Prix 4
The answer to this can be VERY complicated, but you can start by comparing what you find in desc=74 of the MD file with the fastest lap time you are seeing on the track in qualifying. Desc=74 is on line 76 of the magic data file and it defines the fastest qualifying lap time in seconds, so 69560 means 1m 9.560s. So you just want to change the back panel? In that case, look in the /gpxpdata/pnl/pitboard/ folder and edit the file called pitboard.tga - and if you want to change the size of it, look in the pitboard.ini file where the pitboard.tga is mentioned.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Deciding what it is you want to achieve would be a good start. Your question is very much like walking into a large food store and asking someone how to prevent starvation. It's not a appropriate question. Or am I missing something? But if you went in there and said that you wanted a meal made from cabbage, a bowl of sugar and a bird's beak you'd be in with more chance of aby Noog - Grand Prix 4
I've now tested this in Q & R. Works fine for me.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
I have to go out now, but I'll upload the fixed version of your anim.wad and drop you a link later when I've had a chance to double check it OK?by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Stranger still, I can't make it crash AT ALL now - and if I'm not mistaken I've copied every single file over from the qualifying folder in your broken anim.wad! I think that's what gives this game such long-lasting appeal. It's just so incredibly weird sometimes! So, is it fixed at your end now too?by Noog - Grand Prix 4
OK. Not sure exactly where the problem is yet, but here's how to overcome it. I opened your anim.wad and into the qualifying folder I copied everything EXCEPT the skins from the qualifying folder in my working anim.wad - and it works fine. So it's something in that folder, but it's not the skins.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Just took a very quick look and if you go straight into a race, does it work? It does for me but in qualifying it crashes. Can't see anything wrong in the Q section of anim.wad yet, but it might be a clue.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Happy to take a look if you want to upload the anim.wad.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Sounds like you've covered it all then bud. Are you sure it's not the engineer models themselves, rather than the texs being used on them? Or maybe a typo or a missing file somewhere else in the anim.wad?by Noog - Grand Prix 4
So if you were to put your pitcrews into the working anim.wad, would it crash? I took a look at my pitcrew skin texs and they seem to be 171k (so your 96k doesn't seem too much). But I also find that while some of my pitcrew skins are DXT5/full trans, others are DXT1/Opaque (so much for my consistency!). All are sized 512x512 though. Are yours?by Noog - Grand Prix 4
To focus in on your problem, have you tried putting in another anim.wad from a working mod?by Noog - Grand Prix 4
If you've changed any of the names, change them back to the default team names. Ferrari McLaren Williams Benetton BAR Jordan Arrows Sauber Jaguar Minardi Prost Also, qualifying name format is engin_teamname.tex, but race is pitcrew_teamname.tex I've been using DXT5, full trans, MM4, but the names issue is likely to be your problem.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Looks like you've created a shed load of problems for yourself now. Hard to know where to begin, but I'd salvage what I could and start again if I were you; one thing at a time...by Noog - Grand Prix 4
00008FF2? That's the error that means the cars.wad was broken, yes?by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Yes, you are referring to the official GP4 patch from Microprose, but that's not what I meant - and as far as I know, there's no reason to not use that patch as it fixed several nasty bugs - so to my mind, you need to patch the original game as a matter of course*. What I was referring to are the different versions of SDI's GPxPatch which are all still available on SDI's sby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Did you delete BOTH entries in regedit? As above, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Lo2k's Tools is one, But HKEY_USERS\S-1-5.....\Software\Loki's is the other.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
The quick fix temporary might be to make 10 copies of the original default car_helmet_00.gp4 and rename them CAR_MCLAREN_Helm00.gp4, CAR_WILLIAMS_Helm00.gp4 etc. Then, if that works (and I not guaranteeing that it will, but it's logical), then you can start editing or replacing them with the helmets of your choice, but keeping the names you made.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
Looks like you might have installed the individual helmet mod incorrectly. I'm certainly not an expert on that patch because I've only installed it once and very briefly, but: When you load that patch into GP4 it tells it to look for the helmet model associated with each of the 11 car model names, and if it can't find one it tries to use the one from the default car, which iby Noog - Grand Prix 4
MD file = magic data file = an xxx.md3 file Not all tracks have one, but you can always create one using cmagic4_102.exe (either from the track DAT if it already has magic data, or by creating a new one if it doesn't*) (* Because Melbourne is an original track, you can also create an md3 file by using cmagic's "create magic file from GP4.exe" option on the EDIT menu, butby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Not really a question of liking or not it bud. I've been working exclusively on 70s mods for over two years. I'll get back there one day but it all takes time, you know! Good luck with the editing though. You'll get there - and the more you do it the easier it becomes to get it right.by Noog - Grand Prix 4
You really need SDI to explain this, because I might not be remembering things entirely accurately here, but here's my take: Until v4.44 of GPX Patch (or maybe one of the other early versions, I don't recall) there was only one behaviour: and that's what came to be called old behaviour in later versions. The later versions introduced the other two options to fix various anomaby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Well that depends on the PF you are using, because that determines the power of your car. Also, it's ages since I used Melbourne, so my current figures probably wouldn't be much use to you. However, try these in your MD (they are my basic default settings when I'm calibrating a track) and tweak the POWER settings for your setup until the CC car that's most similar to yoursby Noog - Grand Prix 4
Yes. Looked into this a few months ago and came to the same conclusion. Old behaviour must be used in multiplayer mode. The other two work well in single player mode, but for multiplayer games, they are essentially unusable. How are you getting on with the sound? I'm using the EAX tweak permanently now, but there are some weird consequences - such as in Telegram where all sounds have a maby Noog - Grand Prix 4
