Guys has anybody read the wheels controller readme ? They have tested 18 steering wheels with the new patch ! Problem is with patch ONLY 8 work !!!!! I am ok mine does (Guillemot Ferrari FF Wheel) My sons wheel Thrustmaster ferrari 360 modena does NOT work with v9.6 patch. I think many others also might not be happy !!! If you download readme.zip it has patch readme and wheel controller reby seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
Glad that's sorted then, I was getting am little paranoid.by seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
Well seems I hurt someones feelings again ! For the record I LOVE all Nascar games - although I mocked the points system in jest ! Nascar 2002 and Nascar Heat are my favourites but I have most of the old ones too. I went to see the Atlanta 500 in 1999 or 2000 ? while training at IBM Atlanta. I know europeans mock NASCAR but I think that slipstreaming on ovals is incredibly difficult to masteby seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
Infogrames told me it was safedisc but it isnt because it drops out on nocd patch as well. I figured it failed at movie loading point when looking at cdrom so tried Full install and it worked just fine. I had minimum ? install (without movies) previously and this failed. I uninstalled later and tried again on minimum to prove - still failed. Uninstall/reinstall Full worked again.by seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
BEWARE ! I have just done some testing with the current SBLive 5.1 package available on all Creative Web Sites which was dated May2002 they describe it as follows: This web release is a standalone package of Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 meant for existing 5.1 card users who have lost their installation CD. (For Windows 95, 98/98SE and Millennium). Supported models are the SB 0060. This release alsby seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
For me it would be nice to stay on the island - perhaps if I can master this part I might get a podium ! Those gravel traps and black flags lose me a lap a race !!!by seemsnice - Grand Prix 4

Me too steve ! My sons PC is 18mths - 2 yrs older spec than mine and it runs better. Damned if I can figure out why ! I can make big changes from min to max settings and the fps suggested barely changes. PO like you it is always high unless fps is <23-24 fps While my spec is half yours I stillexpected more - it runs all other recent games brilliantly. Just GP4 that struggles to keep up.by seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
I just looked on the US, Asia and Europe sites as sometimes they have different stuff, but they all have the same for Live5.1 namely For Win9xME Playcenter2 Wavestudio updates Full CDROM for "people who lost their CDROM" (19.02MB) I downloaded it and compared it to my original "box CD" from 18 months ago and it is the same. Even Playcenter and Wave studio are the same levby seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
There are some updates to the software (Playcenter etc) on the www.soundblaster.com site but the drivers on the cdrom shipped are the latest if I understand it correctly.by seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
True - but he could skip the road tracks - Hey you lose a few points but those Nascar rednecks score 4000 points for a win and 1000 for most laps in 9th place while driving anticlockwise with a beer balanced on your head ! So he could soon catch up - LOLby seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
I tried it but couldn't get it to run - always errored tried a few things couldn't make it work so trashed it. There are a lot of tweaks in it but I don't know how much effect most would have. There is also NVMAX it has all the same tweaks I think.by seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
Maniak - QUOTE: Also, I am impressed with your background in racing. Maybe you can enlighten me on something: Is a racing car really behaving that unstable, like f12k2 shows it? I have driven a few race cars as I said before. The only ones I had any input to in terms of set up were my own Ford Cortina Mk1's in the 70's. As I built the GT for rallying and modified the Lotus I could tby seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
Morbid - Prince of Darkness - I think you need to LIGHTEN UP mate ! I believe forums are for expressing ones views, we don't all have to agree with your views (assuming we could understand them buried so deep in all that bullsh*t !) Quote: ........Plenty taken. Eureka - I have it - Go buy Nascar 2002 they only turn left on the ovals - so no problem with the "right turn finger" !!!by seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
In the post that started this thread Maniak said: What do you think guys? Is f12k2 more realistic than gp4 or not? Please don't come with "fanboy" (thanks to Morbid for the poetic license) stuff. Try to be fair and rational. I forgot one other MAJOR plus in F12002.................... You get START LINE TOTTY !!!! But then I am a SAD OLD GIT in a wheelchair !!!by seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
I have seen many threads from guys claiming between 28-31 fps on PIII500 and GEForce2 MX etc. I have PIII 1.0GHz GEForce3 + 512MB + SBLive5.1 and cannot get more than 25fps with ALL forum tips tried. However I get 25fps whether I got everything maxed or minned. I tried 7 or 8 different drivers because of various threads too - never changes in GP4 (although some MUCh better than others in 3DMarby seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
Well for what its worth I agree with Tom too, the game should work out of the box and for MANY of us it didn't. Tweaking to improve is one thing yeah we like to do that - thats why we benchmark and tweak bios etc BUT half you guys have your heads up your ARSES if you think that GP4 is acceptable. GET REAL if it is acceptable why have we listed more than 100 bugs - if it WAS OK we wouldn&by seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
See the thread "F1 2002 and Grand Prix 4" for info on Nvidia driver benchmarks in a post added by me "seemsnice" at 07-02-02 11:35by seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
SORRY MORBID ! My mistake, I took your name in vain ! I just checked the email you sent me and YOU ARE RIGHT - YOU DID recommend 28.32 drivers that you were using. I DID try the 28.32 drivers as your email suggested and I replied (by email) with the results last weekend. Anyway over at Tweakers Asylum HERE: There is a database and HUGE list off downloadable drivers - I think ALL NVidia driby seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
How do you measure this 50 - 60 fps ??? In race ? In practice ? In options ? The common thing here is that low spec geforce cards are giving better numbers than ge3's, WHY ??? It isn't the settings in Windows or GP4 I have tried them all in MANY combinations and 1 at a time - fact is they hardly change anything when testing in graphics options.by seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
I just been fiddling with this cockpit view - it appears like you're looking down a telescope the wrong way - everything is smaller and further away at 0% and more normal at 100%. You would need VERY LONG arms to reach steering wheel - perhaps thats why there are no arms - LOL It may?? be quicker - it gives that effect but doesn't look realistic IMHO. Somewhere around 50% - 75% is a cby seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
How do I know you're a KIWI ? - how about email address: ....apx0.paradise.net.NZ Are you using 29.80 or 28.90 drivers ? I have just found some 29.80 drivers here: but first glance says they are Gainward Drivers. Also on same site is benchmarks for all Nvidia drivers and it shows 29.42 was worst 28.90 and 29.80 much the same. I have downloaded the said 29.80 drivers and will test. Iby seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
I mentioned this same thing in an email to Morbid - extract below: The GP4 manual has nothing about settings for graphics etc or about replays. If you compare GP2 - Excellent manual AND Driving Guide, GP3 very good, GP3 2000 additions to GP3 manual only, THEN GP4 manual - it is CRAP ! If you were new to GPx then the GP4 book would tell you nothing ! It assumes we already know about the otheby seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
Did nobody else see this comment in David Watsons post: David Watson wrote: > oh yeah and for all those people who are having frames > problems and u have a Nvidia based card use the 29.80 > drivers, I get 31 frames using a Geforce2 MX 32mb on a P3 600 did you take this in ? See the F12002 v GP4 thread started by David Watson where I have asked the same question. He is the man who claims 31fps on PIII 600 and GEforce2 MX !!!!! These drivers are either an incredible leap forward for gamekind or: 1) PIII 600 + GEforce 2 MX when run upside down perform like they're on steroids. 2) He has been drinking too much fine NZ wine 3) Too much rugby cause brain fadeby seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
David do you mean 29.80 Nvidia drivers ? or 28.90 which were previous version as recommended by Morbid ? Latest 11th June Official Nvidia Ref drivers are 29.42. There is another post elsewhere asking where to find 29.80 drivers - probably read about them here - please confirm if 29.80 exist and link to download - cheersby seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
I have Guillemot Ferrari FF Wheel and although FF works it is very poor I think - but it wasn't great in GP3 either - all effects to max and rumble strips make loud vibrating sound but FF - no effects at all - you get light steering when lose grip and tugs and yanks when dropping off kerbs etc but generally not very realistic sometimes i driving smoothly it feels like ff has gone except forby seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
Also the wheels always go about 200 metres away. No wheel teathers in GP4 obviously - Hey they go faster than the cars LOLby seemsnice - Grand Prix 4
