That Sauber would have been the perfect car to get looking right when editing the original Microprose Grand Prix!

F1 Hmmm...not easy on a Sunday I'm afraid. Don't think there are any buses on a Sunday through Silverstone.
The best way is by train to Northampton, bus to Towcester then a taxi to Silverstone. Even then you'd probably not get there until lunchtime missing the morning action.
Hiring a car might be an easier option (if you can!)
Well worth it if you can make it. BTCC is excell

Other Motorsports Thanks for sharing. Great photos.
Was at Oulton Park last weekend. The BTCC really does provide a superb day out. Good to see it popular again.

Other Motorsports Seeing the thread title says 'other Motorsports'...I thought this would be the best place to post this.
Congratulations to Gordon Shedden, the 2012 BTCC champion. Well deserved. It's been a good season, been able to get to 3 of the races myself this year as well.

Other Motorsports Well the GP2 and GP3 guys seemed better behaved this morning....well most of the time anyway. Some of the guys in those series really should think about their driving, there have been too many large accidents due to silly moves and mistakes this year. You can't get anyway with that on a track like Spa. Thank goodness Melker and Cregan are more or less OK. Cregan's was just freaky.

F1 I agree it's much better to see a weaker car getting points on merit. The two tyre companies in 1997 helped a lot with that. With midfield and smaller teams running Bridgestone against the dominant Goodyear meant that now and again the likes of Panis/Trulli and Hill could get their cars near the front. There are many factors that help a struggling car near the front. Some drivers just seem t

F1 Spent most of my day in the Becketts grandstand too. Might even be in the far end of one of your pictures!
It really is one of the best grandstands for viewing...there was quite a few minor spills through Becketts yesterday as well, particularly in the morning qualifying sessions. Must have still be some dampness on the white lines after the overnight rain.
Great weekend though, one one sma

Other Motorsports It is free and there are no catches. Pretty much all of Silverstone is accessable and there are many grandstands open.
I suppose the real catch are all of the products Renault will try to sell you over the weekend...but that's easy to stay away from if you choose to.
This will be my 3rd year as well and I can say that it is well worth going.

Other Motorsports Anyone else going this year?
Always a great weekend of racing and possible to get away from the crowds if you don't mind a bit of a walk. Although if they're using the new pits complex, it'll be interesting to see where everything is!
Pleased it's in the middle of August this year. Being a school teacher it means I can recover on the Monday. Hopefully it'll be warme

Other Motorsports Such a shame this is happening. It has been fought off for such a long time though. So many circumstances have contributed to this. The BBC don't want to cut events like Wimbledon and they probably will need quite a budget for the olympics next year. Football and cricket fans have already been through this and sadly now it's our turn.
I remember during the 90's that there was an

F1 If they see Button as guilty, could they penalise him for the next race instead of adding on a penalty for this race?
I forget the rules on how and when they give the different kinds of penalties.

F1 Well hopefully nothing will come out of these investigations. It would spoil an amazing result.
Button needs a season full of wet/dry races. The first half of 93 would have suited him nicely!

Should be fun to watch!
Although the GP2 guys squabbled a bit too much on their first lap by the looks of things!

F1 Button is off to a good start, but is continuing his 2010 form rather than improving it. Which isn't bad and will bring him and the team some handy points. But he'll want (and needs) more than that.
I'm impressed with Paul Di Resta so far. A sensible start to his career and ahead of Sutil too. I haven't noticed Di Resta make any significant mistakes. Something will go wrong

F1 Heidfeld seems to have been going well all day..having just beaten Alonso's fastest time to go top.
Of course there's fuel, tyres and whatever programme Renault are running. But if I was Renault, I would start getting him ready for Bahrain.
The Malaysian Lotus team look like they're going to have a better season already as well....though thats not too hard to achieve given th

F1 Well, if there was ever a time for Petrov to prove his place in Formula 1....this is it. Who ever drives the number 9 car in Bahrain, the team will need some good results to lift them...must be such a blow for them.
Remember how Kimi Raikkonen suddenly came alive after Massa's crash? Petrov really needs to do this for the team. This is a real chance to prove himself.
We shall see.

F1 I have to agree with Marcl....when there is a very good F1 driver lying in hospital (or any decent human being come to that) with multiple fractures...the rumours about fate or whatever are just not appropriate.
If this was fate...it would have done something kinder like Senna showing some quality in the HRT and being noticed by Renault....or making the HRT faster to get him notced.

I wasn't aware that he was ill.

F1 I've always liked the more simple designs, like Jean Christophe Boullion, Eric Bernard or Olivier Panis' early helmets.
I liked the Hill's helmets as well. Particularly in Damon's case that the white bits were exactly where the sponsers needed to go. What would Marlboro had done had Damon ever driven for Ferrari?!

F1 Something to tax your memories and knowledge on.
Di Grassi's incident today is something we've not seen in F1 in a while. When was the last time a driver failed to take the start because they spun/crashed on a warm up lap or going to the grid. I remember Blundell doing it in the 95 Canadian Grand Prix and Coulthard doing it the same year in Italy. But both were able to take the star

F1 Did Roberto Moreno ever take part in a race in the 1970's? If he did, he mightbeat De La Rosa to that claim.
Anyway, interesting mix of drivers from the past 2 decades this year...plus one or two from this decade. Wonder which members of the 2010 grid will be on the 2020 grid?
F1 driver's careers can take some funny and twisting routes!

F1 Going back to the Michael Schumacher number 3 thing....here's a good pub quiz question.
What is the only formula 1 race that Michael Schumacher raced with an even number?

F1 Yes, I remember Arrows at their last grand prix in France.
Frentzen and Bernoldi really pushing it around most of the track until the last couple of corners. I seem to recall that they were doing quite respectable sector times until they backed off as well!

F1 He'll either go back to his pre-2000 helmet..or the bits that he replaced with ferrari red in 2000 will now be mercedes silver.
Maybe even back to that short lived 1993 helmet?
Maybe he'll go from something completly new?
Its a shame that some drivers change their helmet colours when they feel like it these days. There always used to be a sense of identity in a driver's ch

F1 Chances of the driver driving car 22 winning the championship for the 3rd year running?
22 seems to be the number to have! Even if you have obtained it because your team was disqualified or your team was shut down and sold!

F1 What a fantastic weekend that was. Loved every minute of it!
Best bits was making my way out to Stowe to watch the Eurocup 2.0 on Saturday afternoon. And early on Sunday morning watching the first Renault UK series race from Abbey. She wasn't fussed about going until they all came racing into the chicane for the first time.....she couldn't leave her seat after that!

Other Motorsports I hadn't considered it, but Davidson taking Piquet's seat would be a smart move...although with no mid season testing...how much better could he do?
As for Lotus F1? Well, i've just put them into GP3 as the 11th team in my 2003 season.
