Just did a career race at Istanbul in the Lotus, drove every lap like a qualifying lap to finish 9th, my happiness was short lived to find Senna finished 5th and Liuzzi 3rd.

I still can't figure out what the timings are meant to mean either on the left hand side.

I love Istanbul so much I got pole, fastest lap and win. In a Lotus. Don't ask how.

I also ended up in an argument with some guy that instead of overtaking cleanly, would swipe at the victim's car so it went off track. He did this to me a few times, so I got angry. I know that sometimes, we all accidently hit people, but I hate people that do it on purpose. Not cool. At least there are penalties :D

The timings are the current lap splits of each car compared to the leader's current lap :)

i have just done the british gp in carreer mode and i can now fully understand timing issues. pole was something like 1.33 and last was 1.38 i was going as hard as i could doing 1.43 and passing heaps of cars round the circuit and doing slower lap times. but come race day same conditions i could do 1.44 but they could only do about 1.53 i won by about half a lap in a str. i have also noticed that it is becoming more and more like that as i get into the game. i am .7 sec off doin r&d at hockenheim and am a full 10sec off the pace but still passing cars left right and centre and leavin them for dead. absolutely crap.

Its the same with a wheel, well on some of them anyway. The most ones I spin on are at Monaco where a normal F1 car can use them I cannot and Spain at the end of the lap.

Will Codemasters ever release a patch? Bugs that were discovered just before launch (pirated/review copies) should really have been patched by now. I've sold my copy on the 360 anyway, was getting beyond a joke.

I think there will be some kind of patch, but I can't imagine it will fix everything (if anything) - they want you to have a reason to buy F1 2011 after all...

Of course treating the public like idiots as they often have might cause a reduction in sales, but probably not.

yeah because half of the idiots on CM forum honestly believe they've been given the best F1 game ever. they're so thick they don't even understand the AI issues or how they affect gameplay. they happily blether on about how they're winning the WDC for HRT and how utterly amazing the whole experience is. the only explanation is that they live in cupboard and have never played any other racing games. not being funny but it would seem that the English "footy fans" are the worst offenders for not having a freakin clue about what they're talking about, as seen in the Silverstone thread.

anyway, CM are making a patch but I don't know what it's fixing.

I'm not an expert, but from the gist of your posts, it's not your favourite game is it? lol

This is different. This game is being castigated. It's not leaving something open for the sequel, it's putting people off entirely.

That said, the bugs present are massive. They're the sort which requires a code rewrite of a particular section - for example the fact that the AI times have little or no relevance to there models, which if it's as bad as it looks would be a huge problem which alone might take months and months of coding and a month of testing after that.

Codies are going to have to pull out all the stops here.

I'm starting to think that F1 2011 will either be a paid-for addon, be reduced in price for owners of F1 2010 or be a flop. They need to get the confidence of the consumer back, because all they'll be able to count on for sales otherwise will be the sheep on the Codies forums - it will be a disaster...

You would hope its a paid for addon if they don't significantly improve this years, but it will never happen. They will just keep releasing half arsed games until theres a massive drop in sales.

What it needs is a competitor, like FIFA vs Pro Evo. Pro Evo was always the best for years until EA noticed people didn't want just arcadey football games anymore. So they upped their game and now produce better Football games.

At the end of the day its all about the £££

I agree, just as much real F1 needs tyre war and engine war ... the first company that comes to my mind and could be up to the charge is Simbin.

Must admit that I have just bought this game without reading much about the problems everyone was having. I do one race in career mode and the auto-save fails and I have to go back as far as re-entering my name! Not impressed! I certainly won't be un-installing GP4 from a while.

exactly gav, they went from bad to worse, this was their opportunity to attract new customers, and create a fanbase to continue purchasing their games every year... instead they scared them all away...

who would trust reviews next year?, who would trust videos?, who would trust another "feedback from a F1 driver", who would trust their money on CM......
i had GP4 pimped with all the patches and stuff, but then it got annoying to have to start 3 or 4 patches before starting the game, but that was/is a 10 year old game.... this shouldn't be happening with a brand new game...

i will not purchase F1-2011, i will crack it as soon as is out, test it and if it's worth it, i'll consider buying F1-2012.... f1-2011 should be customers retaliation on them

OK Thanks for that reply, but your solution has no relevance to what I asked...

Does anybody have a solution for this problem?

Thank You.

there is no actionmap (at least in the corresponding folder) that applies to unsupported controllers. most likely the settings are stored in the savegame or somwhere else where you can't access them. so if you want to change these settings you'll have to emulate an xinput controller (you'll see a fitting xml in the actionmaps folder). then you can access the advanced options and set everything to your liking. afaik this is the only way to overcome the restrictions of the game

Good stuff, that will help me... How do I emulate an xinput controller? Sorry for my stupidity but I have never had a game before stupid enought not to allow me to set any settings I want...

Thanks a lot!
