it's more important than you seem to realise.

the perfect F1 sim would be achieved by having a complete immersion in what you're doing by having every detail - from the handling, to the graphics - as real as possible. the problem is that it only takes one thing to be crap - the graphics, the handling, the AI, the damage - and the whole illusion vanishes before your eyes and you're just back to playing a game.

when i hit the wall coming out of the final turn in montreal, i want to see the suspension collapse inwards, i want to see scuff marks on the wall and i want to see shattered endplates ricocheting across the tarmac.

i don't want to see wheels and suspensions and front wings bouncing off in huge chunks, i don't want to see debris bouncing along forever, and i don't want to see cars cartwheeling after hitting a piece of carbon fibre.

it's as important as anything else, and it's been hideously neglected to this very day

and, (EDIT), GRID is @#$%& shite.

everyone here will hate it (although still buy it). but it will sell to the masses. such is life.

Regarding the crashes. I'ld love a game where if you tap someones rear wheel the front wing becomes slightly loose, then eventually falls off and gets stuck under the car at the moment. Most games its either the front wing stays on or just flys off lol.

Sorry to go way off topic, but i saw a vid on youtube the other day of sutil's off during the british GP. Quite a spectacular event! However, all the people in the grandstand with theyre silver hats ons just sat there silently looking gaumlesly at Sutils car like 'What did he do that for? He's not as good as our Lewis!'

And its these people Bernie is trying to cater for nowadays, not the true fans.

rant over. As you were.

Thanks by the infos Marko;

CM's someone from staff:

"Our game will not be moddable."

pfff....;/

That really sucks. In case they release it with some crap tracks and/or shitty models or bad physics means we will have to stick to them.

Lol! Big news.. ;)

And that was on May 30, 2008 04:12PM.. ;)

But anyway.. CMR 1&2 and ToCa 1&2 were nice, so I know they can do a good game IF they just want to.

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

IWE that quote was taken out of this context.

Our game will not be moddable. The data structures we use are very complex to make the most of current hardware and we'd have to release a whole range of editors, exporters and converters + you'd have to buy a range of expensive art tools to work with them.We will be releasing an F1 game every year so you should get all the latest data you need at the highest possible quality.

Doesnt change the point. Complex or not, having new release every year brings most money (and on consoles there wouldnt be any mods anyway).

But having "more complex data structures" eliminates competition on PC and makes bigger amount of people to buy new part every year. Sure you will really get all the "latest" data and "highest possible quality" like they promise ONLY from them once every year.

Modder groups would top CM quality and they could offer latest stuff already soon after each race like it pretty much is with GP4. Big part of players would be satisfied with first part of the game and wouldnt bother to buy the new one wich is mostlikely going to be anyway just a season update. Just to remind CMR 3,4 and 2005 were about 95% same game compared to each other like also ToCa Race Driver 1,2 and 3.

Till now pretty much everything what this guy have said on CM forums have been easy to guess for most of people who have played CM games for bit longer time. But sure till this game is released there is some hope left.

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

Exactly right.

Modders really make the games what they are imo. Even GP4's simpler updates bring much more than the original. They bring a whole new level. Modders have the ability to almost make a new game (at least it feels that way). It can be so easy to get bored with the same game, but modders add so much more it becomes very difficult to get bored!

Well hopefully the game will be easy to mod so they can work their magic and improve the game. That's the only reason I would get it for PC.

@IWE

my point was that the "we will be releasing a game every year" wasnt presented as news, but repeated as he was specifically asked if the game was moddable.
What one thinks of him stating the obvious is another question and yeah predictably they wanna prevent modding of the game, maybe his words were meant to discourage any potential modders as well (expensive tools etc)

anyway, there's a first pic up in the forum of the spa track

By the way, I was having some discussions, is the actual name of the game announced yet? Some suggested in the current name scheme of Grid and Dirt. If the game would have been for pre-2009, my bet would have been "Stuck" as in stuck-behind-a-car …

I guess they would use 'F1' in its title.. Because just because of this, enough people would look at it, before taking it home to try

it'll be something fairly obvious to please the FOM, something like "Official Formula One Championship Season 2008" or something.

or possibly:

"Official World Championship Season 2008, starring Lewis Hamilton"
