geez i can remember the first time i saw gp2 and thought that it'd cost me a fortune to get a new pc to run, i remember it being one of the first times i had seen texture mapping on top of polygons and was gobsmacked at how realistic it looked lol :)

Yeah best ever track was on GP2 though I forget its name but it was some ultra mountainous road circuit with a chicane that's basically a 10x vertically exxaegrated Eau Rouge and a main straight longer than anything else. It was basically impossible to go round the track in anger as you would fly off from berms and bumps, awesome stuff I would reinstall GP2 just to play that one single track :D

Heh they look awesome, I made my first helmet for GP2 and it was sucky but my GP4 one kicks ass :)

Btw does anyone know how to fix the hyperspeed problem under XP where the game speeds up a lot then slows down to normal then speeds up again ? Using VDM and no-cd patch.

You can try a program like "slowdown" or

Thought I'd post in this thread since it is reminding me of the days of GP2. I can remember loading this game up and blasting round Silverstone for the first time and almost getting lost. I still think the Pacific GP circuit was one of the weirdest and craziest tracks I've ever driven.

Aida-TI was one of the best to watch, and was OK to drive. One of the ones I was best at, it suited by oversteering style. :)

P.S. Marc, those pics I posted from 2000 are from a primitive incarnation of F400!

I'm currently preparing a GP2 game if anyone would be interested in it.

Basically you'd run a team from a 100 Million budget , choose your favourite livery (or send your own), pick your engine, two race drivers, a test driver and spend a bit of money to give you reliability.

Then off we'd race, I'd take screenies and post them up with a story of the race and we'd see whom came out top.

If more than 14 people wanted teams, I'd do a knockout pre-qualifying system which pops the top 10 teams from the previous race straight through and then a qualifying session of aggregate race drivers times to give the other 4 teams to progress through.

Would anyone be interested in that?

Si, you are decribing almost an identical game which I run for GP4 ;) Mentioned briefly above, actually, it's called Formula 400 and currently has 13 managers taking part. If your own game doesn't get the numbers, you're welcome to join :) but best of luck!

anyone interested in my remeniscence when I see those screenshots? Well anyway. Back in 1997 (I was 11) I wanted to play GP2, but I couldn't - my pc was too weak (386, 4mhz, 8mb ram). I got F1GP1 and played it for hours, but I wanted GP2. So I always enjoyed playing it when I got the chance somewhere else. One weekend my sister promised to get me the game and her friend would install it for me. They did and with it they brought a new computer with 144mhz which was just enough to play, not as smooth and one might wish, but it worked and that was most important. :)

Had great fun driving it for years and in 1999 it brought me into modding, although I didn't release anything till 2000.

One story of my life and how I got my GP2 :)
