it could well be that while it'll be internally identical to any usb2 drive, it will have a special firmware which measns only it will work. I'm sure it won't take long for that firmware to get leaked / hacked and any could be used.

I've had mine pre-ordered since August 23rd, and I'm still slightly unsure whether I'll get one on release day or not. Apparently all £20 deposits will be honoured.

Word is that some may not get it on release date, but not long afterwards.

The rumours I've heard is that that all Game pre-orders will be covered and there will be plenty of Xbox Core consoles around.
