stripped MS' car, and put 3 coats of the acrylic paint, then 1 coat of enamel paint on both cars' wings. the shade is slightly too dark, but it's glossy, so looks better than the orange-esque dull finish of the acrylic.

tomorrow comes the fun part of applying the decals, some of them are tiny, literally 1mm x 1mm for the marlboro logos on the visor strip, and the nametag ones are 2mm x 2mm.

Quite the project! looking good so far though, looking forward to seeing the final conversion for that set :)

Just received this one today. Probably the best packaged model so far. With an outer box (shown) and an inner plain black box with bubble wrapping inside that, to enclose the model/display case. This one seems to have a working fuel-filler cap too. With a 3" long pit lollipop attached under the base, who's end is supposed to be used to open the fuel-filler cap, but you can use your fingernail just as well.

saw these a minute ago, thought they looked quite snazzy, somewhat different to the norm especially in 1:43 small scale!!

saw some in 1:18 too!

nice model Karan, i didn't get a lollipop with my F1-2000, but i did have one with my F399 Irvine model (sold it ages ago though).

in the black interior box, is the case suspended apart from the base, or is it actually attached to the base? with the Alonso R25 Brazil model, the case is suspended in some plastic shells apart from the model. i think they do that so it can't get cracked or anything during transit.

Dan, those are great figures, are they yours or are they on ebay?

I only have 1 1:18 Senna model like that, the MS ones go for crazy money these days (might convert it to Rothmans one day). I've never seen the yellow Benetton outfit figure before.

after leaving them overnight to dry, the wings onthe 2 F2004's look too dark, and they have a sticky feel, the enamel paint hasn't completely dried, so i'm not happy with them. i might strip them again, or just put the matt red on top again, then buy a more suitable shade of gloss red next time i'm near the model shop.

look at this 1:18 MS figure, nice of the guy to add the Marlboro decal on his stomach area, but he hasn't bothered anywhere else on the figure, so what's the point? [cgi.ebay.co.uk]

and he says it's never left the box, so how did the Marlboro decal get applied then? magically through the box?

Dan, i searched for them, and found the item with less than a minute to go. the price was £26, then with about 12 seconds to go, it jumped to £33.

not really cos he didn't accept Paypal, but i just wanted to see how much they'd go for. had it stayed at £26 i might have had a punt, but it was inevitable it would jump in the last few seconds.

it was lucky i searched for them when i did, 1 minute later, and i'd not have found them.

oh and i stripped the red enamel paint off the midwings of the F2004 models, it came off like a sticky goo.

need to get a glossy red for them.

nice, and yes, the Minardi models look pretty good. i like the 1:43 Jos PS03 from his 100th GP at the Nurburgring. it has a taller case than the normal minichamps 1:43's, and has him sort of half-in, half-out of the car, hoisting himself out with his arms, with the steering wheel on the monocoque top.

and this is nice too:

there's a Justin Wilson version too.

about Massa, I have his 2002 and 2005 Saubers, the 2005 is very nice.

and look at this, B192's are hard to find, expecially the Schumacher 1st win version, but this is probably even rarer, the seller describes it as "The Holy Grail", an MS B192 with road markings on the base card: [cgi.ebay.co.uk]

yeah the B192 from Spa with the rain tires is quite rare indeed, being such a momentous occasion in his career. but there's been quite a few regular b192's up for bid lately :)

the b193b in the nordica livery seems to be the rarest of his models (in 1:18 anyway) and have only seen 2 of them so far. one guy advertised it as the 'mother of all ms models' and that was pretty evident from the $600+ price it fetched. this one went for a bargain, relatively speaking - [cgi.ebay.ca]
