like some of you guys, i received GPL's Christmas catalogue the other day. inside it says that the Minichamps versions of Lewis' 1st Win model won't have a separate driver figure as far as they know, compared to the Mattel version which will have the figure.

that's a real shame if true, as you'd think they'd take the extra effort for Lewis considering he's going to be a major earner for them over the coming years, and if Crappel are doing it, then surely they should do it just to show them up, as they did with Kimi's 1st Win model. the Mattel one was rubbish with a fat, featureless, recycled driver figure, while the Minichamps one was accurate and specially made.

(edit for typo)

it's more like a book this time instead of the flimsy paper catalogue they send regularly, but it's generally the same stuff inside, just more pages:

I wanna ask something, I never ordered the catalogue, but GPL sent a catalogue to me after I ordered a model with them. Is this what they will do?

And in this case, am I right to say that I will also receive the christmas catalogue? OR I must order it?

Hey Muks - Sorry to bother you - Does the catalogue have the RBR Zip Sweat Top in it...?? I've been trying to get hold of one for a bit but can only find them in XL or XXL (Too big for me ;-))

If there is can you post a pic of it too so I can check it's the one i'm talking about (To avoid more disappointment!)

Thanks...! :)

@ GP3, once you order something, your name is automatically on their mailing list for catalogues, so i assume you will receive catalogues in the future, and probably also the current Christmas one. but everything in the catalogue is on their website anyway.

@ Taylor, yes the sweat top is in it, but it says "Sizes:XL & XXL only":

i'm not really sure the first win model is on my list tbh, i already have mp4-17d, so i'm paying 100 odd quid for a figure....not sure it's worth it!

It is, the model looks different to, better details, and the figure looks fantastic.

I had to get a lot of my stuff out of the loft last week so someone could come in and fix the roof, and while i was doing it i brought down 2 Ferrari models i bought over a year ago, but never got round to converting them to Marlboro. one is the F2003-GA '03 Canadian GP 999 Points in F1 Schumacher model, the other is the F2002 from the '02 Canadian GP. as i haven't ever converted an F2002, i decided to do that one first.

so tonight i took it out and removed the white paint from the engine cover:

i need to add a tiny bit of red paint to the gap between the panels on the engine cover, because i couldn't get a cotton-bud inside it to remove the white paint. also the tiny little deflector wings on the side of the airbox are plastic, so acetone fades the colour of them a bit so i need to touch them up with a bit of red paint also. so will do that tomorrow, then the fun of applying the decals can begin.

and i have a bunch of old newspapers i use to do this kind of work on, and i saw this advert for a job at BAR Honda: Click

added the engine cover decal and the 2 tiny ones on those little deflector wings on the airbox (a lot of converters forget about those 2):

without the camera flash you can see the car actually is red, not orange as it looks in the other photos :)
