have you tried to track down the 1:18 Minichamps Kimi 1st Win 17D? looks very nice but very pricey. even the 1:43 version is expensive, but the driver figure is cool.

here's the 1:18 version: [cgi.ebay.co.uk]

and the 1:43: [cgi.ebay.co.uk]

unfortunately Minichamps suffered a case of Mattel-itis, they used the exact same figure for the 1:43 Trulli 1st Toyota Podium TF105 as they did for the 1:43 Kimi 1st Win 17D, as can be seen here with both my models back-to-back:

(the way Mattel used the same driver figure on the 1:18 Kimi 1st Win 17D as the Schumacher 52 Wins Belgium F2001 model.)

I hope they don't re-use this driver figure for Lewis' 1st Win model. I think they've already said the Button 1st Win model will have a driver figure standing next to the car, possibly holding a trophy, but I don't know if that's exclusively for the 1:18, or if it'll be the same for the 1:43 too.

RIP Jules, never to be forgotten. #KeepFightingMichael

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

wow looks very nice!

did you glue the engine cover down or can it still be removed?

also, i got (as i'm sure others may have) another email from GPL today about the back-orders. they basically have no idea when any of the back-ordered models will arrive, could be this year, could be next year, it's anyone's guess. and also the list of back-ordered models wasn't complete in my email, there were a few missing. this might just be because they can't fit them all in one email.

hhmm well THAT version is kinda poor, don't know what it'll look like with the complete livery and kimi's fixed helmet...

edit: on second look that it's really mattel's worst model...might be worth buying after all, with the intent of adding decals..

Finally got around to taking some pictures of the Brazil 2006 F248 1:18 model.

Had to post a couple of the box, looks like Hotwheels had a WOOPS moment forgetting to whiteout the hashmarks on one side.

and on another side an ugly white strip, in a half attempt to cover the hashmarks!

hey that's a surprise Karan, i didn't know you bought the Brazil model!

does the visor on the large helmet open? are the race-wins on it readable?

and that's really not impressive what they did with the hash marks on the box art. you'd think someone would notice it during Qualiy Control (if they even have a QC department at Mattel, lol).

they haven't done much race-ageing either, only looks like a bit of dirt on the bargeboards and rear wing.

and about the Kimi model, why have they f*cked with the helmet on the box? they should be making the helmet on the model match his real helmet, NOT editing the real helmet on the box graphics to match their piss-poor version on the model.

@ Paul, have you received your 1:43 Williams you bought for £2? is it any good? can you post some pics? cheers.

Yeah i got it a month ago or so :) The visor seems to be glued in place unfortunately. And no the race wins arent readable by the naked eye certainly. Maybe with a camera with a powerful closeup lens could read it.

shame at Brazil they used the hashmark livery, otherwise that would look awesome with the proper Marlboro livery.

yes gp3, it does.

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it
