I believe its the 2008 version.

Team France post qualifying press release....

Our man Girard has a lot of work to do, from 21st on the grid. We are confident however, that Jean can bring home some points.....

GPGSL Team Owner Debut - Melbourne, Season 8 - present
GPGSL Test Debut - Hungary, Season 4. GPGSL Race Debut - Adelaide, Season 5.
Hello all and its race time here in Estoril. With Alpenstrom and pole and Girard his closet rival languishing down the field after a poor qualifying is it time to see that gap increase. The weather is sunny so that will be a non factor today.

We are waiting for the start as McGregor lines up alongside Alpenstrom on the front row

We are go and its Edvardsen with a great start shooting right past McGregor

Maverick had a struggling start and Silva tries to thread the needle between him and Jantsher

Into the first corner and Alpenstrom is going to lead it with McGregor losing another place to Kamikaze behind

Silva gets right up alongside Vukcevic for 6th

With Vukcevic trying to hang on around the outside but not going to be able to

Maverick was not the only man to be slow of the line as Antunis bogged down as the mess of cars raced to the first corner

Nikolov misjudges his braking point clipping the rear of Maverick

It forces Hunsley to the outside

Tafuro just ahead takes Jantsher

As Vilela capitalizes on Hunsley being forced wide to steal his place

Byrne also made a pass on Copeman just further back of this

Edvardsen taking a defensive line against Kamikaze

Maverick forces Nikolov out wide to prevent a pass

Kamikaze is alongside Edvardsen down the main straight

Just as Silva and Kederer do to McGregor and Vukcevic respectively

Kamikaze takes second and will set his sights on Alpenstrom

Meanwhile McGregor puts up a better effort keeping alongside Silva round the outside

Advantage back to Silva as he is now on the inside for the hairpin as we can see Kederer passed Vukcevic

McGregor has to conceed the position now but a great effort in defending Silva

Standings after the start and early lap drama

Kederer immediately sets his sights on McGregor

Nikolov trying as well on Jantsher

This time McGregor does not manage to hold off Kederer past turn one

And its the same for Jantsher

Maverick another to suffer a loss of place at turn 1

Alpenstrom already has a small cushion on Kamikaze

Tafuro getting defensive against an aggressive Nikolov

Silva having a look at Edvardsen but he is a little too far back and will tuck in behind

It was not going to be long before Nikolov found his way past Tafuro

Jantsher is continuing to go backwards today

Maverick closes the door on Hunsley and they are so very close

Girard on the other hand has Silvestre passed before turn 1

Silvestre trying to hard to keep up runs wide

He hits a car???!!

Manages to only come away with a broken wing

We can see Silva in Edvardsen's slipstream attempting to use the extra pace

Another pass at turn one this time Silva on Edvardsen

Edvardsen taking a more defensive line with Kederer closing in

Kamikaze has not managed to claw back any time as Alpenstrom slowly adds tenths to his lead

He has a reasonably comfortable gap back to Silva

Edvardsen loses another place after his great start and this one is to Kederer

Vukcevic drops a place to Nikolov who is continuing his charge

A group is forming behind Maverick

Edvardsen now finds himself with McGregor in his mirrors

Janthser gives Copeman no room around the outside

He still tries to go around the outside but finds himself further away than when he started

McGregor getting back one of the places he lost to Edvardsen who seems not to have the race pace today

Copeman is another to go for the pass at turn one

But Jantsher is putting up some resistance

Copeman holds the pass though

With that we will take a short break after a frenzied start to the Portuguese GP

Seriously? From 8th even further downwards? This season is just so frustrating. And again the boost seems to help not at all.

GPGSL : Team Owner of 'Maverick Track Performance' (MTP)
Nikolov is going well in these 6 laps. We all hope his running forward is succesful :)
We return with the second part of the Portuguese GP here in Estoril

We rejoin with Jantsher having just been past by Copeman with more to worry about

Hunsley holding a tighter line as Jantsher ran a bit wide

Its at turn one though where Hunsley makes his move

Janthser refuses to let the place go

Hunsley can keep just enough alongside Jantsher to stop him cutting him off

And Hunsley makes the pass at the hairpin having the inside line

Jantsher is forced wide and De Boer has a chance at a pass

But Jantsher cuts back across on the racing line to stop that

Copeman is all over the back of Maverick

He has a good run out of the last corner

And pulls alongside Maverick

He dives up the inside and Maverick has to let the place go

He does look at making an instant pass back as Copeman runs a bit wide but the hairpin is long enough that it can be saved if you do

Silvestre finds himself lapped very early on

Copeman now starting to work on closing Tafuro down

By the end of the lap he is already right on his tail

And passing Tafuro taking the 10th spot

Byrne catches up to Jantsher

Here are the standings with pit stops to come

And it is Alpenstrom who starts them off

Kamikaze moves into the lead

As Silva pits

Vilela the other man in the top ten to pit this lap

Alpenstrom rejoins in 8th not quite into clean air

Maverick finds himself on the wrong end of a battle between him and De Boer

Silva is back on circuit 13th

Vilela 17th

McGregor pits and rejoins in 12th

Nikolov pits in from third

As Jantsher joins Maverick in the pits

Nikolov rejoins in 9th people still scattered about the track

Good work by the swiss pit crew as Maverick gets out ahead of Hunsley with Jantsher behind that

Kamikaze pits from the lead

With Kederer joining him

Vukcevic and Copeman also stopping

Edvardsen takes the lead

Alpenstrom stays ahead of Kamikaze but he is a lot closer

Kederer rejoins ahead of Silva

Copeman gets ahead of Vilela and Vukcevic he got in the pits

Silvestre finds himself lapped again

Edvardsen finally pits

Allowing Alpenstrom to take back the lead

Edvardsen rejoins in 7th place

Silvestre locks up and hits the car again

This time he will not be able to keep going and is stuck in the middle of the circuit

Everyone is having to be careful to pass the stricken Silvestre

Nikolov locks up trying to chase down McGregor

Trouble for Tafuro perhaps a botched pit stop as he has a loose wheel

He cannot make it to the pits and is our second retirement

Standings with those pit stops done

Vukcevic trying to make up for his pit stop chasing Vilela

Girard has had a slow day and locks up with Byrne lingering behind

Vukcevic passes Vilela at turn one to get back one of his lost places

Nikolov has closed up on McGregor with him trying to catch Silva

Kamikaze holding his own against Alpenstrom in this stint

Time for our final break with a second set of pit stops to come

Here we go with the final part of the Portuguese GP

Its Copeman first to draw the camera's attention with him locking up chasing Edvardsen

Nikolov finds himself right on the back of McGregor and he will be thinking about passing Silva too

Copeman up the inside for 7th place on Edvardsen

Nikolov steps out of the slipstream of McGregor

He makes the pass at turn one and sets his sights on Silva

De Boer is looking to drop the gap to Vilela in the final points scoring place

Standings with the second pit stops coming

Its Johnson who starts us off this time pitting and rejoining just ahead of Marinescu

Vilela the first to pit from the top ten and returns in 13th much closer to De Boer

Alpenstrom pits

As does Kederer

Kamikaze is in the lead but has traffic which will hinder his chances

McGregor pits from 7th

Alpenstrom is back on circuit 4th

And Kederer returns 7th and McGregor back 9th

Kamikaze pits from the lead

As Nikolov follows Silva in

Copeman also pits with Edvardsen in tow

Alpenstrom retakes the lead from Kamikaze who will be ruing the traffic

Silva rejoins ahead of Nikolov in 5th and further ahead than at the stop

Copeman is out in 8th with Edvardsen 9th

McGregor has kept within reach of Nikolov after the pit stops

De Boer eases past Vilela for the tenth spot

Vukcevic finally pits from the 4th place he took by not pitting earlier

And is out 9th with De Boer in the background

Kamikaze has a backmarker and 2.5 seconds to make up if he wants the win

But holds a comfortable gap back to Kederer

Who in turn is safely in third for now

But whats this a mistake by Kamikaze running wide

He spins into that car

Now struggling to get back on circuit

And its clear to see why he has no front wing

This puts Kederer in second and Alpenstrom now has even more leeway

Kamikaze pits from 8th for his new wing

Vilela is now in tenth

Kamikaze returns out of it now in 16th right in front of Jantsher

The gap for McGregor is a second to Copeman who must have passed him somewhere, probably turn one

Kamikaze perhaps a little frustrated makes a pass on Girard

The gap is under two seconds for Nikolov to perhaps push the podium

Kamikaze messes up again on the back end of the circuit

He hits the barrier and now retires and its a frustrating end for the Japanese team

McGregor is falling away from Copeman

The only real sniff of action in the last laps has been this one for 11th between Maverick and Hunsley

Alpenstrom takes the win though and its been a great race pushing Alpenstrom ahead in the championship

Kederer and Silva fill the podium

And Vilela takes the final points place

Here are your official standings

Fastest lap went to Alpenstrom

Very, very happy about 2nd place :). That's way more than I was expecting.

We could save a podium place just at the end of the race. Although we though we could fight for the win.
Nevertheless, a good result for the championship.

BTW, great coverage! :)

Indeed a great coverage again. But I'm really, really frustrated. Again no points for team Switzerland despite a good position and a decent perf. We'll have to scale down the expectations more and more. Even P10 seems to get unlikely already.

GPGSL : Team Owner of 'Maverick Track Performance' (MTP)
Nice race for us, we merely missed the podium! Great resut as once again Nikolov made all the nation be proud of his performance. Българи юнаци! :)
Team Suomi:

Despite starting 3rd, 7th is a great result. Feels good to be back in the points after so long.

Unless I'm very much mistaken... I am very much mistaken!
Jean Girard caught uttering some words as he left the circuit....

"..... stupide Portugal. Piste stupide. Obtenez-moi le camp d'ici...."

GPGSL Test Debut - Hungary, Season 4. GPGSL Race Debut - Adelaide, Season 5.
Finally!!!

I'm absolutely gutted, another good race thrown away.

My Grand Prix 4 Files

I'm a total dick. How many people can say that?
Glad you guys enjoyed the coverage cos i found it painful to do this race since i think only one pass occurred that was not at turn one. As for people falling back i feel for you John. I dunno what it is this year i think more people are spending big points in the race so spending 250 is as bad as spending zero. I am sure for season three we will make changes to fix it up a bit. The variance is something True suggested we should modify again and he is probably right i just kinda dallying on it because unlike when at zero it killed the races and it was much earlier in the season now it would be messing with the championship considering how people have spent so much of their points

Btw post

Don't get me wrong Ben, I don't want to make the series at all bad. I just understand team Australia very well now, how frustrating it is when always and again and again something happens that spoils good results. I agree though that zero variance wasn't the right way either. But right now it might be too high because spending boost points at all seems to be even more a gamble here at GPGNC than at the GPGSL. The correct allocation of boost points is an essential part of this series and I feel that with the variance now this part is spoiled in a very negative way, as the variance can totally destroy all the efforts you intend to get in with a boost. And as the variance doesn't decrease in this series, it shouldn't be as high to make this happen again and again.
Of course nothing should and could be changed in the middle of a running season, but for next season I'd really encourage some changes to the variance. My suggestion would be to make the variance double the number of a regular boost for one session. As the standard number for boosts is 250 points per session, this'd make the variance 500 and would allow +/- 250 points of the actual perf. If people think that this is too little, maybe 750 or 1000 max could be considered. But definitely not more, if you ask me.

GPGSL : Team Owner of 'Maverick Track Performance' (MTP)
Well yeah i mean 1000 is probably too steep i cannot remember what the old variance was. The more you lower the variance you increase the spend 500 to win. Although it could open up to accumulate points over the season without a spend or bust if you commit big points then the incentive is not quite there to be consistent. Any suggestions though and i will do some testing in the off season to find a formula that works.

So far there is reducing variance
Perhaps increase ai errors or chance of car faults?
Lower the perf spending cap per race?
