Round 6 Zandvoort - Race day part 1!

Welcome back to Zandvoort in Holland today for the race that follows yesterdays exciting qualifying session! Hunsley will be hoping to take the win after claiming another pole position, but Zakes, Copeman and De Boer are all pretty close to try and deny him, whilst Maverick, Tafuro, Copeman, Antunis, Vanthoor and possibly even Hunsley all need as many points possible to claim that GPGNC title.

Of note today... the weather has changed dramatically! From yesterdays sun, we have a nice rain that looks set to stay for the whole race, so how will the drivers cope with this change, and possibly one of, if not the first wet race of the season? Anyway we are ready to go down to the track, as all the cars between Hunsley and Oakley look ready to go.

One light, then two, then three, then four, then five, and they all go out, we are Go! Go! Go! Zakes makes a lightning start and manages to get passed Copeman into 2nd before the first corner, whilst Hunsley still has the lead.

And the USA driver can't stop going backwards at the moment! De Boer has jumped him to take 3rd place. A little further back, Maverick has jumped Carreiro, whilst McGregor also has a great start and jumps Vukcevic and Carreiro.

Tafuro gets himself ahead of Urazel, as does Stein of Germany, who has had a terrific start from 18th! Vanthoor also goes backwards, and sits behind Ward.

Tafuro isn't happy with one place gained, and tries for the lunge on Antunis into the Audi S. But nothing doing, and both drivers escape unharmed in the poor conditions.

Hunsley trying to pull away at the front, but he doesn't get the first fastest lap for very long, as Zakes behind him is going faster.

Copeman earns his 3rd place back with a very slick move up the inside of De Boer. Very nice and very clean racing.

He isn't the only one on the attack, as Antunis gets passed Vukcevic into the points in the very same place. Urazel behind them looks to do the same...

Yup he's ahead and will be able to make that one hold out of the first bend.

We have lots of action on this first lap so far, which is a good sign! That race charged up Belgian car easily cruises passed Ward.

Whilst behind them, pointless man Heart makes his move on Paddock, and also gets himself passed like all before him.

No no no, De Boer that is not the correct line for turn 3! He gets a poor exit from turn 2 and ends on the grass. No damage, but he has to rejoin the busy track...

That could very easily have been very messy! De Boer rejoins, but then gets tagged by McGregor. Still no damage to either of the cars, small traffic jam though.

De Boer can prevent a spin though, and gets the car going at racing speed in 8th place, right ahead of Vukcevic.

Not for long though... disasterous lap for De Boer, chucking away his high position. This turn its turn 7 where he has got it completely wrong.

This time he really is way back, down in 17th behind Xanthis. He will need to show his qualifying pace to save his afternoon...

Not that the cars are too spread out for him to overtake. Stein isn't really quick enough, and now heads the massive tail of the back half of the field.

Antunis is still moving his way up the order. Next lap, next driver. This time he cruises his way passed Carreiro for Portugal and into 6th.

Urazel also takes another man, and quite cruicially that puts Tafuro now down into 10th, further from points.

Whilst Vanthoor too is getting a move on, and gets his Belgian car passed Stein. He looks rather racey today.

Whilst Razak's day gets worse for him, as he has now fallen into to 20th due to Jantsher overtaking him, nice solid move.

Another lap has meant more overtakes in turn 1 for most people, but for De Boer it means yet another slip. He gets turn 3 all wrong and is lucky not to hit those barriers on the outside.

That now puts him in stone dead last. From 3rd to 22nd in effectively 1 and a bit laps, if only there were points for places lost...

Whilst on the opposite end, Hunsley has a little space over the fighting pair of Zakes and Copeman, who both have a lot of time over Maverick and McGregor.

That's another man in the gravel trap, but this time its not De Boer. Oakley makes an error in turn 7, but he was 21st, so not much lost.

However this man does have a lot to lose with an error! Copeman has lost his car in turn 12 and is now in gravel. He needs to get back on track asap!

He rejoins infront of Vukcevic, Tafuro, Urazel and Vanthoor. Italy, Montenegro and Usa are three wide down the home straight and into turn 1...

Its Vukcevic who comes out of it best off, at the top, with Copeman and Tafuro slotting in behind. Copeman lost a lot of ground and points with that error...

Down the home straight again though, and he is looking to reclimb, starting with attacking Vukcevic...

Yup he has made it nicely through, and that puts him up into 7th place now.

Razak wasn't going to take that earlier manoeuvre lying down, and he has soon got back passed Jantsher in turn 1.

Whilst De Boer has taken another man and finds himself in 20th place, right behind the fighting pair.

Vanthoor desperately trying to find a way passed Urazel in the Audi S, but that costs him a lot of time and Stein is all over him...

They are neck and neck through the first turn, perhaps with Stein slightly ahead... Yup Stein has held the place and these two have swapped again.

Annnnd that's this first part over, so now for some just as exciting commercial breaks ;). But feel free to get yourself a tasty beverage or a nice snack, and rejoin us for part 2 very shortly! :)

Round 6 Zandvoort - Race day part 2!

Do you have your beverage and snack ready? Good good because im afraid the commercials are ending and we are now ready to go back to the trackside to give you some more of this exciting race coverage today! Over to the commentry team.

As we arrive back on screen, De Boer makes his way passed Jantsher, he has gained yet another place on his charge from the bottom. Oh and Hovarth was the man he overtook earlier.

Vanthoor is really attacking Stein into the Audi S! They are almost off the inside of the track! Stein holds though, that's awkward for Vanthoor to overtake there.

Whilst both of them make it out perfectly, Razak gets it all wrong and ends up running wide onto gravel. He then has to wait for De Boer, Jantsher and Hovarth go passed before rejoining.

That's Tafuro up into the points! A very neat move up the inside of Vukcevic into turn 1, and memories of spa are not repeated today ;-)

Nope Hovarth thats going to fast and too sideways... The Hungarian loses it into 2, and ends up sideways in a barrier with 2 wheels less. Thats our first retirement.

Oh whats this! Zakes is right up the inside of Hunsley into turn 1, has he got it, will he take the lead?!?

Yup he does, Zakes takes the lead! Hunsley then finds himself unable to turn in and runs wide onto the gravel! Will he get back on before the onrushing Maverick and McGregor...

That's a yes, he still has 2nd place to show for that Zakes move, but the 3 are bunched are really rather close now.

Whilst Oakley isnt happy to settle for a last place finish, and takes Jantsher in turn 1. However he goes slightly wide in turn 3, and the Austrian does well not to hit him.

That gravel trap trip from Hunsley means that Zakes has about 4 seconds of lead to play with at the front, he is looking good.

Oh what's this! McGregor drives right up the inside of Maverick as the swiss driver goes defensive to cover the inside. Terrific overtaking move!

Vanthoor gets a bit too friendly with the gravel on the exit of turn 12, and that lets Stein and Ward slide right by him.

That groups up Heart, Paddock, Yoshimoto, Xanthis and De Boer, giving Yoshimoto the chance to overtake the all black car down the straight.

Which he takes very well. De Boer is having a very very late lunge into Xanthis, and does well to avoid damage, but they are still equal and can they make it round...

No no, the answer is no and once again it is the home man De Boer who loses out. He goes well wide on the exit, and the gravel simple points him in the opposite direction.

For the 2nd time today, De Boer finds himself in plum last of all running cars. Terrible terrible day.

Yoshimoto having to defend very hard from paddock into the Audi S. With such an inside line he should have it covered though.

Your standings after 10 laps, with the first round of pit stops clearly very imminent:

Those standings could well change those as Carreiro has gone wide into gravel at turn 7/8. No barriers but has he lost any places...

That's a yes, and one of the easier moves for Copeman of this season as he gratefully accepts the gift from Carreiro.

Zakes is the first man to get the pitstops under way, pitting himself from the lead. Will this early tactic work?

We don't know yet, but Vanthoor is finally rewarded for his hard work as he manages to get his car passed Stein into turn 1.

Whilst Maverick comes out the pits right behind a lot slower Heart, Ward and Yoshimoto. Thats not particularly great placement.

Hunsley, who had taken the temporary lead, now pits himself. Can Zakes hold the lead he had?

No Copeman, that really is not the track. He loses yet another massive chunk of time once again in turn 7. All his hard work to regain time, gone.

He now finds himself back behind Carreiro, right infront of Jantsher, Urazel and Vukcevic in 11th so far, slowing them all together.

Maverick gives him the chance to reclose any gap though, as he too makes an error after turn 12. He doesn't lose as much time though and doesn't let even Carreiro passed.

Oh hang on? McGregor has got passed Hunsley in the pits! That's potentially up to 2nd place for the Australian team, stunning work!

Meanwhile, Tafuro comes out of the pits right behind Jantsher and into the path of Urazel. Tafuro makes it through, and Urazel needs to hope he can fend of Vukcevic.

With conditions so treacherous its not surprising there are errors. What is surprising is that Carreiro and Copeman are pretty much swapping positions by making mistakes in turn 7. This time Carreiro slips to let Copeman through.

However this time its not just Copeman. Jantsher and Tafuro also make it passed Carreiro, whilst Urazel and Vukcevic are so so close behind.

Antunis has waited for a very long time to pit, and now does so, from the lead he had.

This means that Zakes can stream through to recollect his lead. His margin has fallen though, as McGregor is pretty close behind.

Jantsher dives into the pits, and this confusion causes Tafuro to slow slightly, meaning Carreiro is now onto him...

And he is through, so the portugese man has reclaimed of the place lost from his turn 7 incident.

Annnnd as much as i would like to show you the rest of this enthralling race tonight, some of us commentry team really need to sleep, otherwise we collapse, so you will have to enjoy a rather long commercial break, whilst we out here rest and recouperate ;)

please hold the lead please!
really good race so far... i hope i can get on the podium one more time this weekend...

Round 6 Zandvoort - Race day part 3!

Hello again folks! After a rather long section of commercials for you, and maybe to odd filler programme, our team are back and ready to go back to the Zandvoort track for more coverage of this great race! I hand you back to our commentry team once again!

Thank you and we are back onboard with Vukcevic in 10th. Oh whats this, Urazel in front of him looks to be taking to the grass into turn 3.

The Turkey man doesn't lose too much time and rejoins the track quickly, but has fallen behind Vukcevic now.

A big congratulations to the Brazillian pitlane team! They have done a quicker turn around, and Antunis is now ahead of Maverick after both have stopped!

Vukcevic has to go defensive into the Audi S, taking the inside line. But wait he's now beginning to squeeze Urazel, thats really too tight!

And its Urazel who loses out completely! He spins massively and goes straight into the barriers. He's lucky to not lose any wheels, as its only a front wing he can carry on. Vukcevic meanwhile drives away completely unharmed. The incident must go down to his fault, he moved across very suddenly into Urazel.

He does manage to keep the car running, and the Turkish driver limps back to the pits in last for a new front wing.

Now over the Razak, and we see Yoshimoto simply cruise past him in turn 1. Plenty of overtaking through that bend. Razak down to 18th

Meanwhile Vukcevic may have lost Urazel, but Vanthoor he has not, so the belgian simply shoots passed in a much faster car. Vanthoor 9th, Vukcevic 10th.

Oh no Urazel's day just goes from bad to worse! That looks like turn 2 and he has just gone straight on. Oh we are getting through that he had throttle issues, so would have retired anyway. Thats disappointing.

De Boer attacking yet another of the back runners down in 19th. He's side by side with Razak coming into turn 2, only one can fit...

Its De Boer who has the inside line so he was always going to win that race and does so, taking the 18th and pushing Malaysia into 19th.

USA team radio: "I've got transmission issues and the throttle is stuck, i'm going to have to stop, the car has just collapsed on me!" Its the end of the line at turn 3 for Copeman, a sad end to what could have been a promising day.

We have the standings for you... But off screen McGregor has slipped! Hunsley is now in second place and has closed right up on Zakes. With all the other action we didnt really notice!

Well Razak and Jantsher wouldnt want to stick to those standings, and they are at it again, this time its Jantsher making his way passed.

Hunsley attacks Zakes into the Audi S! But thats not really a sensible place to go and he backs out of it. Zakes still in the lead for now.

De Boer has probably spent more time in the gravel traps then on track today, and he goes wide yet again in turn 6.

In the midfield, its Oakley making his way passed Xanthis rather too easily. No fight from the greek man.

Not that it really matters! Oakley just slides the car straight on into the gravel trap, must have forgot the track was wet. He now sits in last again.

McGregor having to go defensive now to keep that last podium place! Antunis is too far back this time, but you can't help but feel its inevitable.

Whilst Maverick in 5th is having trouble keeping both Carreiro and Tafuro behind him, not the easiest pair to hold back.

Hunsley is side by side with Zakes down the home straight! Is this the moment where he takes the lead back?!?

Yes he is through! Not a reapeat of last time and both drivers stay on the track, but Hunsley has the lead! Can he now hold it from Zakes

Carreiro fed up of waiting behind Maverick and he attacks down the inside of him on the home straight...

But he brakes way way way to early and that allows Tafuro to slide up round the outside and take 6th place! Clever driving from the italian, just sticking close.

Error from Zakes! To add insult to the injury of losing the lead, he has now presented Hunsley with a gap! He has slid the car wide in turn 2, and now faces the must slow grass.

Antunis is through! In perhaps the only move through the Audi S that will work all day, Antunis slides up the inside of McGregor and grabs the 3rd place.

Tafuro tries to copy to move on Maverick, can he make it through the tight gap? Vanthoor has now latched right onto the back of these 3.

The answer is no, well more like not this time, as the italian is still very close and still very much on the attack.

And he doesn't waste any time! Seconds later he is attacking down the straight up the inside of Maverick...

And he makes it this time! That's Tafuro up to 5th and Maverick down to 6th, in pretty much a championship battle.

Carry on the tradition of leaders pitting first, Hunsley is the first man to dive into the pits to be serviced by his red South African men.

If you want a way to chuck away a podium, that surely is it! Antunis runs wide in turn 7, and thats enough to let McGregor clean through!

Some more pits stops and... Vanthoor has jumped Carreiro! The belgians team get him away a lot quicker and he is now ahead of Carreiro. Both still behind Tafuro though.

But the italian is getting majorly held up by a slower New Zealand, which is backing him right onto Vanthoor.

And Vanthoor is through, Tafuro was held up too much as Paddock dived into the pits, and that allows Vanthoor to get a massive drive on him and cruise passed!

But im afraid now it is time for yet another commercial break, a small one again this time, and we will be back shortly to give you what we predict will be the rest of the footage. We promise we will be right back so do go anywhere! ;)

And with that retirement it is bye bye championship...I fear that my luck has deserted me when I needed it the most. Without any point here it's going to be very difficult to do anything.

Round 6 - Zandvoort - Race day part 4!

Welcome back and thank you for sticking with us so we can show you the final part of the race today! We wouldn't want to delay as there have been as many overtakes as pirelli and drs put together, yet we have neither! I think we are now pretty much ready to get down to the track for the last part of this race.

You rejoin us to see Vukcevic right down in 18th after his pitstop, well there still are about 6 cars to pit infront of him, but he's lost a lot of time in his pits! Our data is telling us that he had an electrical fault going into the pits, and they take a good 20 seconds to solve. Points now look a lost cause, and he is keeping De Boer company.

Zakes goes wide! Somehow he has managed to lose it in turn 9 of all places, and McGregor and Antunis cruise right passed him, disaster!

Carreiro is fed up of being held by the yet to pit Stein and so drives passed him in turn 1. The difference in speed is evident with a full Carreiro powering passed an empty Stein.

Maverick comes out the pits... and he is infront of Carreiro! Does that mean that possibly Vanthoor has leapfrogged 3 drivers over this stint?

Antunis is into the pits, as is Zakes right behind him. This should be easy for Antunis to stay ahead, there is enough of a gap...

With McGregor having pitted too, Hunsley sails passed the two and reclaims his lead. He now just has to hold this til the end.

Meanwhile in a crucial battle between 2nd and 3rd, McGregor finds himself ahead of Antunis after the pits, he will be happy with that!

De Boer fighting with yet more backmarkers, and now he has got his way passed Stein into 13th. Thats the highest he has been for a while.

We have some standings for you with 10 laps left, whilst doing this Stein touches gravel in turn 8, and gets away with it completely:

Tafuro has made a mistake going slightly wide in turn 3, and that has cost him a major chunk of time in the first sector, Maverick is a lot closer.

Zakes looks like he is throwing away all chance of getting a podium today! He gone wide again in turn 7. He doesn't lose any places but he's further away from those infront.

And he rejoins the track not to far ahead of Vanthoor, he is now going to have to defend hard to keep his 4th place!

McGregor makes a mistake in turn 2! Antunis cruises by and grabs himself a 2nd place, McGregor will be frustrated with that!

Vukcevic begins his climb back up the field as he takes Paddock to get himself a 10th place. Nice and easy move.

McGregor gets it way wrong and goes completely wide in turn 7, thats a major mistake.

Oh dear thats a race ending mistake. He can't slow down the car, and he drives straight into the barriers. With less wheels that car is going nowhere quickly. He is out.

Maverick makes Tafuro pay for that earlier mistake, closes right onto him and cruises by in turn 1. He is now up to 5th, whilst Tafuro has 6th.

This could go from bad to worse for Tafuro! Now he has Carreiro taking a look at him into turn 1...

But he can't make it through, and Tafuro gets away with his 6th place, for now.

Ward isnt so lucky though, and he loses out the Xanthis, who has to keep the power down to get through as Ward looks to take the outside line.

Gravel dust + Antunis = Mistake! Its only a minor one though and nothing that will let Zakes behind him back on him. But that gives Hunsley a massive lead now...

Razak looks like he is going way too fast over gravel and has lost the back of the car...

Yup suspicion confirmed. Razak does a McGregor and just goes straight on into the barriers at turn 7. Are the conditions that bad?

Jantsher chooses someone else to attack now Razak is out, and this time its Stein who he is looking to get passed.

Stein won't give it away that easily, and he is still level as they head up to turn 2.

The pressure shows for Jantsher and he can't control the car in turn 2! That's barriers and a retirement for the Austrian, who was never going to trouble the points.

Hunsley now, round the last bend for the very last time, he surely has this, it would take a miracle (or an engine failure), for him to lose this...

Neither happen, and Hunsley wins the Zandvoort Grand Prix! He takes round 6 of the GPGNC and adds 10 more points to his account!

Antunis takes himself a 2nd place step! Considering he started in 9th place, that must have been more than he could have hoped for.

Zakes may well be disappointed with the last podium place though. He must be thinking what could have been without those errors...

Official results of round 6 Zandvoort

Full standings and points after 14 full rounds

So from a top three to a top 6 pretty much. Below that its looking more unlikely.
Still only 9 points between 7 and 14, so the middle pack is very tight too!
End of the road in Zandvoort, so goodbye once again!

Nice coverage, but it's strange that the pit crew is the original 2001 pit crew not the pit crew I painted. Have you used the entire mod I supplied truecrysis?

My Grand Prix 4 Files

I'm a total dick. How many people can say that?
Yup i havent edited the mod at all apart from updating the perf for this race, and putting Maikels newer helmet in, nothing else was changed so im not sure why...

This game is f***ed, every time I look like getting some good points it completly f***ing screws me over. It's starting to get to the point where Australia might not even bother entering in season 2. It's just not worth it. F**K!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again, a brilliant coverage Connor! It was a pleasure to read it!

And on the race.....YES!!! Unfortunately my second stint cost me a lot of time as the tyres seemed to get worse and worse. But I'm 1 point ahead of Tafuro and make a further 4 points gap to Copeman, which brings me in a good position in the last three races. But I definitely have to stay concentrated, one mistake and everything could be over!

Sorry nathan but it was a wet race, car were quite frequently making mistakes, yours was just one of the ones that got it really bad. It was a complete lottery

I screw up my race also. I think my driver forget who to overtake in the last races. ;)

Belgium

Team Belgium wants to give a heads up for Team Netherlands, because we feel for them. Just the way we spent 1000 points at the Belgium Grand Prix, Team Netherlands now probably spent 1000 points to this grand prix. We both ended up with nothing. Let's continue with a big smile and throw De Boer out for next season (LOL!). How much bad luck can you have?
I really don't know how I am hanging on in there still only 5 points behind. Mind you that is two races now that I have used maximum points and not got anything.
