GPG Nations Cup - Season 2 Thread <> Provisional Calendar at Page 1 <> Mod build in progress <> Any interested managers still welcome!

Yeh it is just the one round we are after and thats Zandvoort to True, But you can feel free to send in as many as you want.

After True's exams are finished then we will open up some discussion on improvements to the series. The perfs we can release to you before the round so you have an advance on knowing them but i personally like to know how the race went before i decide what i want to spend. Another idea would be sending the perfs to one person and then they distribute it but this is all stuff we havent been doing yet since i am already looking to arrange a system to make the series as efficient as possible. Its also like next year anyone who showed interest in race directing i will give the oppertunity next year i just been always looking towards that

My personal improvement ideas for the serie:

- Use country names instead of driver names. It's the Nations Cup for a reason.
- Qualifying of 25 minutes.
- Race length of 50 minutes.
- Use the GPG Nations Cup logo as signature when posting races and with making official announcements.

After a 3 hour maths exam yesterday... my exams are done! . That means my time is empty so all the more GPGNC time for you guys . On the topic of improvements, yeh we welcome suggestions from you guys. Its possible we could use someone to organise the perfs to try and get everything streamlined, but whether we post who used what boost before the race... im not totally sure, because the boost system means that some of the differences are rather big, so if only one person has used 1000 for the weekend, they know they have a very high chance of winning, with the exception of failures.

Rubens ideas (thanks for them ): I use country names already, that one really has gone down to RD's discretion
Next season when everything is running smoothly we probably will make annoucements more official, with like an official format for boost pm's, annoucement logo etc.
You can make races time limit instead of lap limit? Is that doable in game? Or would it be the RD doing external timing?

On official business... I think i will give you guys til the end of wednesday to get your perfs in, not a long time, but some of you have already sent them in, so i dont think a huge deadine is needed.

50 minutes races are possible by using the average lap time of a track as base. Do some maths and you have the correct amount of laps.

Zandvoort was postponed to be the last race of the season, why so suddenly it is now the next round and also as the original round 6 event?

To be honest, the running of this serie is very chaotic with al lot of inactive participants. Sometimes the series looks like a joke with some strange decisions being made.

I delivered a professional looking CSM Mod for this serie, but it will be a waste of time if the running of the serie stays poor. Just my thoughts.

Zandvoort was originally postponed with it possibly not being put in at all. It just struck me that now seemed a good time to put it in, as its a european track, and the next tracks are asian. Personally, i didnt think it would make much difference whether zandvoort was now or whether zandvoort was at the end of the season... if i've misjudged that then sorry?

I think that this first season has been struck by a lot of problems, but we have felt that as its a first season its better to get through it, then iron out problems, sort out inactive people once the season has taken of, as theres not much people killing it before it has taken off . Sorry if people feel that decisions made are strange, i've never run anything like this, not sure about icky, so its a bit of a learning curve for me. If people are interested then this series will always stay alive, but if you feel that someone else would run it better then i am happy to let them take over if thats what you guys want .

Oh and the round 6 thing was just a joke... admittedly round number 6 was skipped and so was never actually done, if i carried on the numbers we would have 18 rounds but 17 tracks. Twas just a joke thing though

It would be nicer to have a track like Zandvoort as season closer. On a personal note, I also like to run Zandvoort as a RD.

People will keep interest only if the serie is interesting enough. The only way to achieve that is to make it look more professionally. The GPGSL is a good example of the things I said before.

Well the aim Turbo is to run the series after this season in a more organised way. I inherited the season on the basis that it passed through two hands where one of them didnt even tell me he was not bothering anymore. I have pmed the entire series to find out who is active to only have 4 ghost drivers sadly those who said they were interested didnt reply but what i should run the series with half the field? Why would i press people to be active when i myself didnt intend to run the series since i actually didnt have time for it so cannot guarentee total continuity. I was left with the CSM i was given which has had to make do because i simply have no idea how to create or edit a csm effectively.I am very grateful for you building one like you did and i am very thankful for that. I never set the rules at the start and what you were saying about race and quali is going to change because i suffer so many ctd's that i spend 7 hours at a minimum running editing and posting a race because i am new to this myself. The whole reason lots of wierd decisions are made is because i never ran a series before i never race directed before i was unwittingly throw into the fray so i am trying to lean on others as guidance on what decisions they expect.

I understand completey what you are saying where a good product will keep interest but simply what has happened is the series started badly, it was left with me who is completely inexperienced and without time so inevitably it has been impossible to really get it off the ground. You saw the mess of a CSM and without True who has been a Godsend things would be so much worse.

Also Turbo if you want to Race Direct i know True is planning to run Zandvoort you can always ask him. Things are already in motion for Zandvoort to be the next round.

All decisions towards next season will be made over the coming weeks for a complete overhaul of the whole thing. With so much to do i would rather put a detailed future for the series out so people can see the potential for it and with the right plan in place and a continuity of the team carrying into next season actually offering some fresh life and hope to this series

Without you this series wouldn't run at all anymore. When harjinator suddenly disappeared, I already thought this'd be the end of this series, as I myself didn't and don't have the time to run such a series. That you did it gives you my greatest respect and this is also why I never was worried when it took a little longer for the next round to come up. I know how much effort it is to run a race weekend and publish a coverage. And not only that...then to create the next standings tables, handle the perfs and so on! And Connor (True) is a big help as well.

So, unlike Ruben (Turbo), I don't think that it's very tragic what happens right now. Of course I agree with him that chances are needed and that a certain degree of stability as well as working rules need to be established, which seems to happen already by you asking for wishes of the participants. And so let me approve you of doing an incredible job here.


When it comes to the changes, I, for now, have very little whishes.
- It has been said already but I think it's important: The perfs should be published before the weekend is run and a time period (maybe 24 h) should be given for everyone to check his own perf.
- Country names instead of driver names: I think that's a good idea as well. It would also make it easier to swap drivers during a season by simply stating in the entry post which driver drives for the nation at the current state and this could be changed easily by only editing this post instead of the whole mod.

Yeah that was the original one used. I only changed to the other because i figured we asked for driver names we may as well use them but yeh i am happy with nations. I added the logo to the account so it should appear next time
