Narrowly missed out on the points, bah. Here is hoping to finally grab some points.

@Twigster i am just sending you a pm about my perf points and about rd stuff.
Just over 21 hours to the deadline and according my records I only have 11 teams perf choices fro round 3. Looks like those 11 have a good chance at getting some points this race :)

PS: @icky - although you did send me a pm about being an RD you forgot to include your perf choices ;-)

YES BOYS!!!!! posted in the right thread this time ;)

Well qualy has been run and one lucky nation is on pole for raceday. However something for future notice due to the very short laptime at Laguna Seca every driver had completed their allocated 12 laps with 25 minutes of the session remaining. Coverage up asap :)

Apologies for the large picture sizes, I will amend it for the race coverage :-)

Here we are at the Laguna Seca circuit for the 3rd round of season 1 of the GPG Nations Cup and Italy’s Paulo Tafuro is the first to the track.

And he is quickly followed by home boy Chris Copeman, Hovarth, Zakes, De Boer, Vanthoor, Maverick, Urazel, Jantsher, Heart, Carrerio, Vukcevic, Oakley and Ward.

Tafuro is of course the first to tackle the Corkscrew and is through cleanly followed by a much faster Copeman.

And Copeman takes provisional pole by eight tenths from the Italian

Only to be pipped by Madagascan Zakes

And then again by De Boer

Before Vanthoor puts them all in their place

After the first laps here are the standings

Interlagos victor Felipe Antunis emerges from the pits along with Hunsley in the new South African car

Yoshimoto finds himself sightly up on Vanthoors time through the first two sectors

But a mistake in the final few corners cost him provisional pole

McGregor going well as he puts in the third fastest time

Ward puts in a decent time to go 7th

Headless Carreiro goes 9th for Team Portugal

And South Africa are up to fifth

After each driver has had a chance to put in a time here are the standings

Surfers Paradise pole sitter is having another quiet qualifying down in 14th

Oakley is struggling to find pace today

Likewise Horvath and Urazel

But home hero Copeman puts in a stunner and is just a thousandth off the Belgians time.

A very clean lap from Vukcevic gives him fifth

Here are the current standings

Maverick up in eighth for Switzerland

Dan Paddock currently taking home the wooden spoon in 22nd

But a good lap pulls him up to 14th

Copeman is up in sector 2 on pole sitter Vanthoor but is stuck behind Carreiro, can he snatch pole position?

Now past Carreiro Copeman is into the final corner...

NO Copeman has been held up heavily in the final sector, has Carreiro cost the American pole on home soil?

Jantsher is the first to start the next round of flying laps

Yoshimoto has crept up to 3rd unseen by the GPGNC cameras

However not one of the drivers manages to improve

The last rounds of laps are about to begin and with it so close at the top who will we see on pole for the race?

Current pole sitter Vanthoor is out to cement his position

Ward fails to improve on his time

As does Urazel and Vanthoors, has that just opened the door for a home pole sitter?

and right on cue here comes Copeman round the final corner on his final flying lap. Can he beat Vanthoor

UNBELIVEABLE Copeman puts in an identical lap and is still a thousandth down on the Belgian. Could we be about to witness one of the closest qualifying sessions in motorsport history?

Jantsher improves to 16th

With half the fields qualifying session now over can anyone beat the Belgians time?

Yoshimoto looks like the only remaining driver who could take pole from Vanthoor now

Xanthis sits just in the bottom half of the field

Yoshimoto is up in sector 1…

And in sector 2 could it be…

IT IS!!! Yoshimoto snatches pole with his final attempt, can anyone top that?

Hunsley is also on a good lap

And he puts South Africa into 4th

Dan Paddock is the final driver to post a time but it is well off the pace

And that’s it, every driver has completed their 12 laps and that means that Japan’s Ukyo Yoshimoto is on pole for the race, followed very closely by Vanthoor and Copeman

Further down the field Brazilian Felipe Antunis will start from 20th on the grid after a nightmare session along with currently 3rd placed driver in the standings Burak Urazel. See you for the race.

Oh my life that was close, and really really pulsating too! Third is brilliant for the race tomorrow. Such a shame to miss out on pole though, especially having posted an identical time. Who knows what might have happened if I hadn't been held up.

8th is not too bad for the coming race. Maybe I can catch some points, but a podium might become difficult.

And yeah, please resize the pictures for the race. I'm at holidays and it took me about 15 minutes to load the pictures (and apart from that, nearly 1/4 of them didn't load properly at all).

Unfortunately we missed out on pole, but nevertheless we're shocked with our result. We did improve on qualifying performance points, but not in a dramatical way and thus it is a great surprise what we have achieved. It's good to know what performance we're up to when we're not at our maximum speed. I'll just not be cheering to fast as previous races showed how crucial it is to keep the car on the road with us seeing our friends from The Netherlands dropping out of the last two races. Let's hope we can keep leading the championship after this round.

10th is good hopefully i'll get some points ..........the team editor positions need some work :)

Round 3 Laguna Seca Raceday

Welcome back to the Laguna Seca Raceway for the race. Japan's Ukyo Yoshimoto took pole position in what was a thrilling qualifying session, but he was closely followed by Belgian Laurens Vanthoor and American Chris Copeman. Who will take the race victory today?

And we're away and Copeman makes a fantastic start and is already alongside Vanthoor on the run down to turn 1

But Vanthoor holds firm and takes the inside line on the run to 2

But Copeman forces his way through and now McGregor is having a look at Vanthoor

However Vanthoor fends of the Aussie to stay in third

De Boer pulls out a gutsey move as he takes 6th off Vukcevic going into the Corkscrew

Yoshimoto sets the fastest lap and is a second ahead of Copeman

Stein is having a tasty battle with Ward

But to no avail

And here he comes again going into the Corkscrew...

and Steins through into 10th

The replay shows just how determined Stein was going through on the outside

Xanthis is going cross country

and gives the wall an almighty smack and is lucky not to lose a wheel. He rejoins last

Oakley and Jantsher both lock up going into turn 1

but Jantsher recovers quicker to take the position

Stein is being held up badly behind Zakes

De Boers off the road coming out of turn 7

But he recovers and holds off Vukcevic into 8

Zakes has become the latest to go off the track at turn 7...

and Stein and Ward are both through

Now in clear are Stein shows his true pace. Could he be a dark horse today?

Zakes is off again at turn 7

and collects Jantsher, who is out on the spot, as he rejoins the track

and more drama as McGregor's car burst into flames

an oil leak is what ends his day

Yoshimoto pits from first to start the first pitstop window

he re-emerges in 8th

Copeman is now in 1st place

Vanthoor pits

Oakley currently sits in 8th as Copeman and Hunsley take to the pit lane

Copeman is out the pit lane as Yoshimoto flies by

Only to go off moments later to let Copeman through into the lead

Antunis, down in 20th, is off at turn 7

As Maverick pits Copeman is back in front

Zakes is off the track again at turn 3

Which allows Paddock to take 12th

Hovarth is under huge pressure from Tafuro and co

And he cracks as he loses it big time and spins across the track

Razak has a big lockup going into the final corner whilst under pressure from Antunis

Stein is having a very good race and is up to 6th after starting 13th

26 laps to go here are the standings

Razak locks up again going into turn 1

Again he is now in last place

De Boer resides in 5th place but Stein is close behind

Urazel is having a look at Heart going into the Corkscrew...

and he is through into 14th

Maverick is looking to follow Urazel's example

And he does perfectly and is now up into 7th

Heart goes wide into turn 1

and taps the wall as Copeman pits

and emerges just ahead of the flying Stein

and Stein is putting the American under pressure. Surely this is costing him time

Yoshimoto is back in front

Stein has another look on Copeman going into 8...

and is through into 4th, has that battle given Yoshimoto the lead back.

Speak of the devil Yoshimoto is in the pits

And here comes Copeman

And the American is comfortably ahead of the Japanese driver

Vanthoor is in the pits

Which gives Copeman the lead once more

Stein has made excellent progress and as he jumps Hunsley to take 4th

Stein sets another fastest lap...

and again...

and again can the German catch Vanthoor?

Copeman is 5 seconds ahead of Yoshimoto with 10 laps to go

and here are the current standings

Xanthis is looking lonely down in 16th

Heart is off the road again at turn 7

which allows Hovarth through

Zakes is in amongst the action again as he taps Paddock at the Corkscrew

Tafuro has had a quiet race and looks set to finish 15th

Two to go

Copeman is into the final corner

and takes the win for Team America a superb drive from the American today with very few mistakes

Yoshimoto finishes second whose only mistake today may well have cost him victory

Vanthoor completes the podium whilst Stein comes home fourth after putting in fantastic performance and taking home the fastest lap bonus points

Congratulations to Team America for taking the home win. Yoshimoto, Vanthoor, Stein, Hunsley, De Boer, Maverick and Vukcevic completed the points scorers. Full Results to follow later
