Well, I called verges the ground stripe closest to track tarmac (but after the white edge line) and bank the ground stripe just after the verge stripe (usually, it goes from verge to fences.

yes i saw that, but is there an actual difference between them? does it matter if you make 1 meter verge with 6 meters bank after it, or 5 meters bank with 1 meter verge?
(btw, at monaco the two of them somethimes switch from being closest/farest from track.

I sincerely don't know, all I know is that verge are more rigid than banks which can be precisely oriented in direction and height.
So if you have a flat area, verges could do the job, if you have a more complex area, banks will surely be better.

@Ghostrider: no sorry, I hadn't much time to get my hand on it (and on 3deditor neither) between my holidays, the new 2005 hud, caught cold on sunday and installing my new computer today :)

editing .gp4 file graphically removes fence.
editing .col file removes any projected shadow from a car on that fence
BUT
editing .dat fence distance (in bank description command) physicaly displace the fence ;)

make sure the clipping is correct, and also, check if the "unknowns" are the same as surrounding objects, if then it still doesn't show up, rotate it to the other side, or just set the texture property to "two sided" :)

what I would do is something like that:
a first corner that looks more like bahrain

now the fence is all removed
move the pit exit to the end of the straight line

who knows... if I can do this... than I'll move to a 2nd corner...3rd and then we'll get a whole new track :)

hole is graphical, so just edit .gp4 file and fill the gap :)

i still have troubles trying to get tracks into any 3d editing package :S Xero said someting about flag values but that would mean physically taking every piece out and pieceing it all together in zm or 3ds which would take years lol
