Couldn't have put it better!

But either way, Jo-Anne, it's not only what Mal says, but what the board says, what the rules say and what most other people stick to. Gosh, that reminds me of a certain ex-champion who, instead of using the gender argument, tried the same with his past success in the series. The point is, you already got an extra chance a few weeks back when your laptop was supposedly damaged. And that although you could have easily told Mal about it, since you two are so close, as you say. I had the feeling back then that you already got a slightly favoured treatment back then, because of this situation. So you definitely can't complain now that you didn't even use this extra chance.

You can consider these rules the way you want. The facts are that 90 % of the people participating here manage to avoid being suspended and show the dedication that is needed to keep the series running, and that the activity rules and penalties have kept this season running for much longer than any other series here on grandprixgames. I couldn't put it any better than Dan, so no need to elaborate on this any longer.

So, you are free to return next season, as anybody else, too, if you find a team owner who is ... social ... enough to give you a seat, after you basically announced already that you will miss further activity checks in the future. You also have the option to simply announce your absence and avoid penalties, when you say you go trecking. However, that means once or twice a season for maybe a month max. Not announcing an absence for the whole season and sporadically showing up. That's not the point of this exception.

Ok John, point taken........I had to buy a new laptop and as Mal and I live many miles apart now, he helped me via a programme from his computer to my new one to set it up for me. Dont ever make the assumption otherwise. I am not computer savvy in that respect, and I thank Mal for the time and effort and frustration it took to reload this laptop for me. It took him hours John, and not face to face with this laptop. Leave Mal out of this discussion!!!! I dont lie, it failed and I bought a new one....OK!!!
I have also moved into a new home and area and that also took time to be reconnected to the internet. Yes I do travel, and I think you will find, if you care to look, that I havent been missing longer than a month.....noone ever told me that I was able to have another post for me or that I was able to have an absentee note accepted WHY??
Do other members of this forum know that? All good John, Merry Xmas :-) to you and your family xx

Rules: Section 14 d) Prior notices:
A team boss or driver can give prior notices for inactivity, for example a holiday or a known loss of internet connections. In such a case a driver or team boss will not receive warnings. The notices have to be given by the team boss or driver himself, others cannot do that for him/her! Also absences need to be reasonable in time and reason!

NOTES:

Reading the rules is everybody's responsibility. Not having read the rules is no excuse in disagreements.

You know, maybe you don't realize it, but you're only making things worse for you with every single post. You only would have had to read the rules and you would have known. Or you only would have had needed to follow the discussion in these threads and you would have realized that a handful of people announced their absence, also in regards to activity checks, for certain periods of time. Even that could have hinted you to something and a quick peek in the rules would have cleared things for you.

As for what I say and don't say and whom I involve in this discussion or not is as much my decision as it is yours in your case. You won't order me to be quiet and if you want to discuss this further, then I ask you to please write me a PM and save the other members from yet another public argument.

Is the bottleshop opened yet....I need a bottle of wine

Take a Bourgogne, that's the place where we are right now waiting for the next race.

Completely agreed with Dan, John and everyone else. You can't ask for any favor or anything else just because you're a female, you just need to try your best to be active every two weeks as everybody does. Btw, you've never been so active since you're out of the series. ;) It would have been fine you did that just a few days earlier. Just a pitty, hoping you'll be back next season.

(and you're not the only female of the site, we have a girl at JHR and yes, she is driving (and active).)

Not a prob when I am home and have the internet, nothing to do with genders, ......Pleased to hear you also have a lady on your side, watch the stockings hahaha

I have no comment on the current public loss of another driver...... ;)
There is lots I could say, but wont. Enjoy your Friday's, people - beer o'clock to end the work week.

Is this conversation seriously happening? Really?

I thought, like, reading the rules would be the first thing on the agenda. I guess not, huh?

I don't want to see people inactive. I don't want people to get penalties, because I want the competition to be fair. But for us to help you with that, you have to help us by gracing us with your presence. If you're busy, say "I'm busy until next week/month/the end of time" and we'll take that into account. The GPGSL isn't an autocracy, and we don't punish people if we don't have reason to. The rules of the game are available to anyone.

Care to translate this to english?

A literal translation from this into English wouldn't make much sense (check Google Translator for example).

But if I understand it correctly, it would be something along those lines:

Here returns the repentant dog,
with its fed up hanging ears,
with its gnawed bone,
and with its tail between its legs.

At least 5 years of linguistic studies finally seem to pay off ;)

GPGSL : Team Owner of 'Maverick Track Performance' (MTP)
Almost. If I remember correctly the poem (from a popular TV show), the third sentence would be "with its gnawed snout". At least translated from the original show in spanish ;). But overall it doesn't lose meaning when translated, good job :-)

Then maybe we can sell the GPGSL to a certain Mr. Ecclestone? With him running it the spectacle should increase and people who get penalized will be able to bribe their way out and so avoid those long discussions about the activity rules ;)

That's a great idea. Or what about selling the rights to CVC? By season 11 there would be less than ten teams running.
