it wouldnt be a big issue if the ferrari is fastest on one flying lap like RossBrawn said and possibly slower than other cars when fueled.

As theres no refueling this year, it would make better sense to have a car that qualifies better and lock out the front rows as overtaking is pretty much non-existant anyway.

Just read Buttons interview tbh he did not sound to happy but its early days.

They all seem a bit shocked that the Williams and Renault are a lot shorter, maybe some teams will take the risk and not run their cars at full revs for some of the race in order to get better fuel millage. This will enable them to be lighter at the start and make up places. Just a thought.

Can we also highlight that the lap record for this track is held by the MP4-19A :P and that was at the top of the time sheets most of the time at this track as well, you really cant tell anything. Tracks like Jerez may make it a bit clearer, but its doubtful.

Yes which is what Button also said today, this track is totally different to anything else.

I thought it was DC who had it. I remeber alot commotion about it all...

His interview didnt sound unhappy, just that there were issues with his seating. It didnt look like his times were great, but as he said the times arent important here, besides that Lewis was quick yesterday so we know the car is at least good.

Like with always I think we will have to wait until Barcelona for the teams/drivers go all for laptime.

Rain could hit Jerez test days

That would suck if it did rain for four days, buggering up RBR's, Force India's and Virgin's first tests. Suppose its part of the risk you run by missing the first test.

That's why Bahrain should be made available as a reserve test venue. Although teams might need an hour or two in the rain to get some data for wet races.

There must be a few other options, there are quite a few F1-grade tracks now in Spain. Maybe even Algarve if the weather forecast is much better there.

There were talks of Bahrain being able to host testing in such an event... Would that be possible now? Like the week before the race - so have a week of testing, then the friday F1 starts? :p

Would such a thing be possible or is time too tight?

i saw somewhere that Willy Rampf reckons of all the cars hes seen in testing Ferrari have the most extreme diffuser so perhaps ferrari are trying to unsettle the other teams by talking down theirs?

Heard that and if anyone knows he does. It is a double diffuser rather than tripple as it appears so could be an extreme double.

Im supprised Mclaren have gone for something so complicated and intricate. We saw last year both Williams and Toyota revert to much simpler designs as they developed. Apart from that after the troubles Mclaren had last year I kinda expected them to start slow then add the extreme bits later but looks like they have full confidence in their validation systems and just going mental with it lol!

how does testing work this year exactly? I thought teams can only test on official test days at designated tracks? How come Virgin tested at Silverstone though?

Don't know it was a test or a car 'Evaluation' session.

It was probably classed as a shakedown, which AFAIK is not limited.

Shake downs are not classified as tests. After the initial shake down you can only do sanctioned tests, straight line testing, and media production which I believe is done on control tyres.

interesting, then I wonder why don't all other teams don't take this opportunity to "shakedown" their cars?

Well most of them launched their cars within a day or two of the first tests, so there wasn't really much need, i suppose.

Ferrari were going to do one, but bad weather stopped them. Lotus are doing one tomorrow, I believe.
