Kovy has come clean and claimed responsibility for the crash. That's Lotus's track action done for the day.

From now on, I'll be posting pictures of the test here. It will be more organized ;)

Great pics, thanks Raulongo! Loving the contrasting liveries of the cars this year, especially seeing the pics of the Lotus and Ferrari beside one another. We can see even before the season starts that the 2010 field will make nice viewing cosmetically.

I do not get why a team would go testing without a spare nose, seems stupid and a waste of time.

It does seem a little bit short sighted. But there might be some valid reasons. Just don't ask me to come up with any :P

Interesting that Sauber/PDLR decided to not do any more than 8 laps today in the mixed conditions:
Quote
"With the same mixed conditions as yesterday, it simply wasn't worth doing much driving today. We have a good understanding of the car, and I'm looking forward to the next test in Barcelona, hopefully on a dry track."
Quite a surprising approach to take.

Also, good to see Glock get in some good laps today for Virgin.

Finally, nice to see some different teams/drivers on top - I know it doesn't mean much, but so far, it seems to point to a very competitive season.

If it's a brand spanking new car, they probably won't want to manufacture loads of wings until they know it's actually not a duff design.

exactly... apart from that they might have already developed it further so stopped manufacturing of that one and started on a new one and just assumed the old would last the Jerez test.

Maybe so, but you expect problems in testing, it's part of the reason you test, to iron out the problems. At least one spare would have logical.

RBR must be worried, they keep breaking down.

Not necessarily at this stage. Like J i m says, you expect problems in testing, and it's not like it's the final test before the season starts either. And they have shown some good pace so far.

It didn't seem like it was a massive problem given that they were back out on track not long after.

Haven't all the mechanical problems so far been with Webber's car? Vettel's had a clean bill of health I think.

It could be the same chassis though, we don't know.

It was down to the engine alot last year, so hopefully the Renault will prove more reliable this time around.

RBR always seem to have mechanical problems with every car, more so than most.

The Renault engine in itself was quite reliable...sometimes the installation is the problem, even Renault has some installation problems in 2008.

The potential of the Cosworth V8 was ruined by poor installation into the Williams in 2006, the engine was sound but the installation caused numerous problems.
