Then one would assume that Rubens is vastly superior, right? But that's not the case, he had the car and didn't push. In the end he got the WDC and that's what matters. Having an interesting battle for the championship is just a bonus.
CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!

Massive massive congrats to Jenson and Ross! Most of the congrats for Ross and his immense work to get the team to where it is. YOU ARE THE CHAMPION!!!!

Not as much emotional as I hoped to be but how unlucky can one man get. A puncture for Rubens. Just torrid luck. Hamilton's going to be pwnd in Brazil if he's not watching his back.

@Chet: Congrats to you mate! :)

Barrichello has been faster than Button lately because of the new brake calibres that Brawn did bring for Silverstone onwards, it fixed the braking problems that Barrichello had earlier and since that he has been faster than Jenson but it doesn't change anything and Button did deserve the title, he did the job earlier this season and others did more mistakes, simply as that.

That it did, for sure. One of the better races this season.

It always is! Its great to have it last on the calendar again next year. Its also ironic that even when Brazil isn't last, it still gets a championship decider (just like 2005).

Also, a great drive by Kobayashi, showing speed and tenacity which i didn't think he had in him. He is looking good for a 2010 race drive with Toyota now.

Regarding the race itself, that was pretty damn good! Stunning drives from Kubica, Hamilton and Vettel.

Some clenching moments in that race. The 2 Japanese drivers need their heads banging together, as that was nearly disaster. Some decent handbags from Trulli and Sutil (I can see where Trulli was coming from - something we discussed earlier in the season) and Alonso set the example.

Classic tracks make for classic races. Were you watching Mr. Tilke?

Pretty much how I feel. The Brawn guys more than deserve their night after the winter they had!

Button deserves his title too, but I'm feel he owes the team more than they owe him. Congrats to him - over the course of the season, he was the better driver of the title challengers. :)
lets not forget buttons drives earlier in the year - they were on a different level.

also lets not forget that this car was over a year in development (by honda) so its not amazing they started off quick - what is amazing is how they have kept the development going all year.

First of all well done to Brawn and Button.

On the race, great drive from Lewis and Kubica. RedBull looked a good 2-3 tenths quicker than anyone on Friday so for Webber to win was expected I guess, he controlled it well though. Podium was pretty funny, it seemed nobody really cared! Kobayashi or whatever his name was drove a fantastic race!!! Ok abit aggressive against Nakajima but it was awesome! A mirror image of Nakajimas debut, let's hope his career doesnt mirror Nakajima's though. He impressed me a great deal and I think he showed alot more than what either Jamie or Beumi have shown since their debuts.

I was waiting for people to mention Barachello's puncture, funny that if he had not got it it would not ahve made a difference to the championship result. But only a blind man would doubt the puncture.

Vesuvius - Button has really only been slower in qualifying, in the races he has still been a confortable match for Rubens if not quicker. Today was another example. Rubens did not have great pace today. Martin also mentioned it also during the coverage about Barachello's race pace.

Button drove a fautless drive today with some great overtaking. The Brawn was clearly not as quick as the RedBull, BMW or Lewis so Jenson really did get maximum. I was disapointed not to see Vettel have a stab at Jenson though. Again its something I see lacking from Vettel, we saw Jenson going all out today and yet Vettel knowing he had more fuel than some in front was content to sit behind. At least when he was behind Button I expected him to really go and push for it, knowing Button may give him room... It's the one fault I see with Vettel. His speed will never, and should never be under question. He has owned Webber, a "1 lap specialist". Vettel has been king of Qualifying and clearly has the speed. I think put simply he's Lewis without the flare and aggression.

win when you can, score points when you cant.

edit - btw, who else noticed both Brawn's rear wings not looking as stable as the others? may have been the lighting effects but to me, both were moving around more than the others.

also agreed about Brawn. Amazing, but of course a thanks to Honda for being as helpful as possible with the selling and eventual buy-out. We only have to look at BMW to see the opposite. So hats of to Honda, and like I said before I hope Button and Brawn feel the same way.

Great drive from Mark, and a thoroughly deserved 2nd win after his recent dismal results.

Awesome drive from Kubica, punched way above the car's weight. Great drives by Lewis and Vettel too, tremendous progress made through the field.

What an insane first few laps! A very long time since the opening laps of a GP have been quite so chaotic. We got great entertainment from Trulli, at one point I thought he was about to kickbox Sutil. The pitlane fire was spectacular too, fortunate it stayed away from the pitwall.
And the racing was brilliant too, great amounts of overtaking.
Altogether, a really good race.

Good to see JB pushing hard and being feisty for once. At least the race where he finally clinched the title was one of his better ones this season. And he did deserve it more than any of his competitors did.

But for me the real success story of this season is Brawn GP. To rise from the ashes of an uncompetitive Honda team like they did and win both the Drivers' and Constructors' Championships, all within 12 months, is nothing short of mindblowing. No wonder Ross was in tears. They all deserve every moment they'll have to celebrate this one over the coming days and weeks.

Christ, you're even a bad winner...

He just didn't have the straight line speed. The only car capable of even getting close to the Brawn was the McLaren (and possibly the Force India or Ferrari with its KERS). The Brawn was just too quick in a straight line - it was blindingly obvious from all the onboards.
Absolutely brilliant race !! not boring like the past few races huge congrats to jenson been a long wait of nine years but patience has paid off :)

I was watching the fourm on the red button after the race and lee was doing an interview with hamilton and she asked a question and hamilton sort of flinched and looked up and completly ignoring lee and she said just ignore them, i was wondering did someone spit on him ? did anyone else see this.

Wouldn't call it funny whatever happened. I thought someone threw something myself.

Not entirely sure how a fan could get that close though - it was over the not-insignificant pit wall.
Congrats to Jenson, despite everything, he is a WDC just as much as any other, so well done. I feel so sorry for Rubens, and I hope the much awaited Williams Renaissance is next year for him. Excellent drives from the top 4 and GO KOBAYASHI!

I'm so satisfied with this year's Brazilian race that I really have no words to describe;

It's really good that Interlagos was yet again able to provide good stuff to the motorpsort fans around the world with the new cars. A circuit that hasn't changed in 20 years.

I can say that no matter who wins in this track, as long as it was a good race, i'll have personally points to be happy.

I can say i appreciate more of this circuit rather than any driver in f1.

Gav, Maybe so but having read Atlas and other forums it is quite amazing how many people doubt his puncture. Obviously missing his pitlane entry ;-)! People will always find ways.

Thats not being a bad winner, thats being real!!! Surley thinking the puncture was faked or it was a false stop is being a bad loser??

Works both ways.

He was quick enough ;-). The Brawn was quick in a straightline, i was supprised to see Lewis take so long to pass Rubens. Button's move on Buemi was what Vettel should have done with others. He came from pretty far back, Vettel had the car to do the same. I felt with the car he had he could have, and should have done better than he did.

It's not just been this race but others too. Vettel as far as I was concerned was not aggresive enough considering he needed to do well here.

The great thing is though he's still a baby! He shouldnt be disapointed at all, he's driven a great season and will get many many many more chances to win. What will prove invaluable will be the experienced gained from this year.

edit - mentioned Kobayashi in other post along with Buemi and Jamie...

I forgot Grosjean! Thats how much of an impact he's made! Today, Kobayashi made Grosjean look more average than ever. He was first to spin in the wet, he crashed and had an awful weekend, with much less F1 time and experience Kobayashi was awesome.

what a great race, plenty of good action.
Congrats to button, really deserves this, he has been driving amazing and this race was great from him. Brillaint overtaking especially on buemi from quite far back.

Kubica also did great in that BMW aswell as kob in the toyota, great defending but quite rough especially to nakajima..woah!

Excellent race :) A classic, entertaining from start to finish.

Delighted for Jenson, some truly awesome overtaking moves there - you could tell he REALLY wanted that title! Has led the Championship from day 1, with more wins in his season than the World Champions of 2007 and 2008. A thoroughly deserving World Champion, and anyone who says otherwise is looking at the facts through crazy glasses.

It's also good that we head to Abu Dhabi with nothing but pride left to play for, I think it will suit the "new race" atmosphere far better than having a title decider.

Kobayashi impressed me with his feistiness against Jenson and his refusal to give up. He pulled off some great comebacks against Jenson's passing attempts. He does need to learn about etiquette, with the apparent blocking moves Jenson wasn't happy about - and then his move later on(I was out of the room making a coffee so just missed it), where he did something silly to Heidfeld?
It was pleasing to see his fighting approach though.

Oh yes, Kobayashi was the best thing out there today. Fine he broke a little bit of the rules with the weaving 2 times at some moments but that was a worthy drive from him. Absolutely faultless, you'd never expect that from new rookie drivers in this season. And this with no testing OR the fact that he had no racing chance in Suzuka.

Also it was a little ironic on how Lewis became the Tim O'Glock of this year. Anyone see the bit where he had things thrown at him when he was being interviewed by Lee. As much as I dislike the guy, it was taking it a little too far imo.

Another thing, did anyone see the flinch that Kimi had when the fire started around him in the pitlane. I just stuck in shock on how Kimi just went on to race ahead. Did Heikki get any penalties after? Because there was nothing else mentioned in the commentary.

Nick ran out of fuel due to a Fuel rig failure. Kobayashi moved over twice in front of Nakajima and he went sliding off the track
