i think i read somewhere that testing is banned until the new year - but i think they have some allocated days for young drivers. i could be wrong though.

I think its 3 days for drivers with limited or no F1 experience, then as of January 1st 2010 its two or three 3 day tests i think. either way whatever it is it means a very boring F1 winter.

There is next to no winter testing this year. Between the last race and the end of the year only young driver testing can take place, and then there are only 4 x 4 day tests (so 8 days per driver) with one car/team before the start of the new season. First test will be held in february.

Why can't they just forget the "testing ban" and start testing cars and such. It's a fan based sport so give something to the fans atleast :(

The best idea that's ever been suggested is that F1 teams are allowed to use Friday test sessions as an unlimited, open testing day. i.e. run young drivers if they like, use up engines as they wish, test new components, etc. and not have it count towards the race weekend.

Unfortunately, that idea was panned because teams want to use Friday entirely for setup work for Qualifying.

I can understand their reasoning, but way to kill a great idea. :(

They should have certain Monday's after the race for testing purposes. Perhaps 4 per year or something.

Perhaps better than having all that testing before the race, as invariably the best car will always win, rather than having some cars perhaps not quite as optimised as they could be, as is the case with the limited running before an event we have now.

Yes, that sounds like the best idea - and Bernie suggested it as well, so it has some high-level support from within F1 itself.

This is 1 of million reasons why world needs Vatanen instead of Jean "Mosley jr" Todt to lead FIA.

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

That's the thing. I'm backing Vatanen but the way the whole FIAsco been panned out in the FIA boardrooms and such it's looking extremely unlikely :(

According to GPWeek, the next testing we are going to get is 3 days from 1-3 December of young driver testing. Each team can run only one car, I believe.
