A fine would be out of the question.

If Piquet, Pat and Flav all confessed to fine Renault would certainly push them out the sport.

They have come out well from this.

So has Brundles management scheme I bet ;)!

The judgement has been returned:"Renault have been disqualified from the FIA Formula One World Championship, with the ban suspended for two years, after the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) found them guilty on Monday of conspiring to cause a deliberate crash in last year’s Singapore Grand Prix.

I am shocked about the fine as well, but Renault probably would have left so that might be why.

Plus Renault have said they will do more for road safty.

I still think this is worse than what mclaren done, seeing that Renault also had Mclaren info at the time. So I dont think this punishment fits the crime, but if it keeps a team in F1 and engines then its for the better.

I think they got away with it very lightly tbh.

With Mclaren it was proved that more people then originally thought were involved. Not only that but it was proved they, well Ron lied to the council, which is why they got the fine.

In this case, all people have come foward, and unlike Mclaren there is no evidence to suggest more poeple knew, or were involved.

I think the difference is that renault admitted it. Mclaren continued to deny the charges against them even when faced with overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

its flavios continued denial thats got him his life ban.

The sentence was very lenient for Renault. The judgment says there is no disqualification for the team if they don't make a fault until the end 2011.
Lenient also because Briator and Symonds were fired.
So, it is good for F1 that Renault stays but they are very lucky...

The lifetime ban of Briatore and 5 year ban of Symonds is just deserts. However they seem to be patsies too, to make way for the limp pat on the wrist of Renault. Kind of shocking that they got off so lightly.

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.

If he pitted from the lead the light system from Ferrari wouldn't have failed any less, so no, he didn't lose it because of Piquet.

as i say ifs and buts...he wasnt due in that lap i dont think, it was hurried, perhaps in anormal stop the mechanics would have been more calm, maybe it would have still been a botched pitstop as i say its all speculation.

Massa still should have finished ahead of Lewis, but the pit stop went wrong. That is why Massa lost all points in that race, not due to Piquet.

Massa was lucky he got no penalty in Valencia anyway, got given the Spa win and got away with a crash in Japan.

So all in all he does not really have much to complain about :)

Do you think Flav will try and appeal?

A light let off for Renault imho should of been a bit of a harder hit. Then again punish them too much and they will just up and leave :/

Can't believe Nelsinho got away just like that, without a fine or something.

Brundle and many are saying Piquet should be banned as well, as he is old enough to know right from wrong.

Anyway the guy is finished, who the hell would want to employ him.

We should allow whats his name back on the forum lol :)

But when you think about it what Piquet did was no worse than any of Schumachers run-ins and he got got free? Oh and lost points on a championship he lost anyway!
