i completely see what you're saying and in a court of law i think you'd be 100% correct. infact i was saying something similar to a friend yesterday,

they aren't contesting the charges but also they haven't said 'we did it' so it would be up to the WMSC to examine the evidence from the stewards and piquet and see if there was enough there to decide what happened.

however, having thought about it, the WMSC isn't a court of law and doesn't require any where near that level of proof. so i think the events of this week coupled with the stewards report is going to be more than enough to convict them.

Doesn't seem so mysterious to me. They cheated and (eventually) they were busted.

Pat Symonds's did say that Piquet Jnr came to him with the idea of crashing and that it was discussed. In that sense, on the fact of it, of course its different from the MS monaco 06 incident.

As far as I'm concerned what happened is no mystery, human nature, greed etc.

Turns out the FIA were told at the Brazil GP what had happened.

He does have his father though, and he is apparently incredibly rich.

I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to throw some money at one of the new teams to get Jr. a drive, and even despite this case, 30m or whatever he could give them might be very hard to resist.

One can only assume that Piquet sr. provided no evidence, and is providing some NOW, or else the FIA SHOULD have acted then.

The FIA could not react then with out Jnr's statement. And Jnr couldnt give any statement whilst he was still a Renault employee.

And Snr probably grassed to the FIA because he anticipated Jr being sacked after the end of the season.

Sure! But why to react so quicky, because somebodys title wouldnt have any worth.. ;)

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

Had it been reported last year they could have wiped the result and Massa would be champ even though Ferrari cocked up the pit stop.

In theory yes, but could you imagine the furore if they actually did this?

They would have been more likely to exclude Renault from that year's constructors championship, which would have had a much bigger impact (considering they finished 4th) than this year, where they will finish 7th or 8th probably.

But it wasn't reported last year, and it was at the time just a claim from Piquet Sr. They actually had to have evidence and/or a statement from someone involved. Ifs and buts.

you see... something all you don't know is that piquet sr. after leaving the car racing became a very successful businessman in the telecommunications industry... possibly have enough money to process briatore and buy a place for piquet jr. in any team and will not be poor because of it... in addition, there is a rumor that the final result of the race would had been arranged for one or more bettors benefit... until the trial much will show up and happen

No point in starting a new singapore thread yet soo.

This weekend, a track which should suit Brawn rather than RedBull gives them a chance to wrap up both titles!!!

If Button scores 4 points more than Vettel adn 1.5 (so 2!!) more than Webber neither RedBull can win the WDC.

If Brawn get 13 points more than RedBull they cant win the WCC!

Big weekend, the way things went in Valencia for Brawn and their pace generally on this type of circuit you'd expect them to beat RedBull, so RedBull need a big result!

Stopped after reading this: ''Carlos Gracia, the head of the Spanish motorsport federation...''

You just know what's coming after that.
