And worse yet got a penalty for racing and producing an exciting race. Crazy eh?!

I think Chet is talking about that chicane cut where he setup Kimi for a pass

I think it's unacceptable that the FIAs way of working (making an idiotic rule change and then back off, so they still get what they want) sacrefices a whole championship.

It's such a stupid idea, this most wins thing. Isn't the winner of a race itself the one who is in the lead at the end, and not he who lead the most laps?

Yup!

This is the biggest issue, Bernie wants last second dives up the inside and with that comes the massive risk of causing an accident...

And lets be honest, if wins are what counts I would rather take me and my rival out than settle for the points and 2nd ;-)!

It'll be a knockout championship next...Last 5 cars are eliminated and so on from the first race until you get a two car shootout at the final race.

Good God, I hope they're not reading this. :O

I've just read something funny. Piquet Sr would've lost two titles with the new system. Guess who was Brabhams teamboss in that time? Bernie Ecclestone. I bet he would've complained if that system had been introduced in that time!

Formula 1's teams claim the new scoring system introduced earlier this week is not valid and cannot be used in 2009.
They argue that the changes, which stipulate that the driver with most wins will become world champion, do not meet the necessary regulations.

BBC is now claiming the new system has been REMOVED

"Changes to sporting rules and to all regulations other than those referred to in b) above are published at least 20 days prior to the opening date for entry applications for the championship concerned, but never later than 30 November each year."

Fantastic news, lets hope we don't get the new rule for 2010 though. I am sure the teams will have a lot more say if they want to change the points system for 2010. The possibility of the one of the best seasons ever is back on woooooooooo. 7 Days to go

On 17 March, the FIA World Motor Sport Council unanimously rejected FOTA’s proposed amendment to the points system for the Formula One Drivers’ Championship. The ‘winner takes all’ proposal made by the commercial rights holder (who had been told that the teams were in favour) was then approved.

If, for any reason, the Formula One teams do not now agree with the new system, its implementation will be deferred until 2010.

Sense prevails! Who the heck gave the WMSC and/or Bernie the impression the teams wanted it though? o.O

Oh lovely, now I'm thoroughly confused!
