@logue, I got you point and I am agree with you on that. Thanks I don't live in England, there isn't Hamiltonmania aorund me. Even they support McLaren or Hamilton, I also don't like the people which follow winners. Even sometimes I wish Hamilton wouldn'thave won the title so that I won't have to share my team with those who doesn't know anything about the team before 2007. I disliked those when there was Schumi domination, and now, they are supporting my team, is it anything worse out there? :)

just another point on the pace of the BGP.

we know it hasnt got KERS onboard, and we persume the others have it on board at least and occasionally running it.

Who is going to Melbourne with the intention to run KERS?

No-one imo. The balance will change yet, the other teams imo will also have the extra 30kg to play with at Aus. By running it in testing, the teams are effectivley sandbagging imo. Brawn being the only exception...

It could all change

williams will not be using it for at least 6 races i think they said, wether it was used in the latest test, i don't know.

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

From what I could gather Toyota haven't been running it at Jerez and Barcelona and won't start the season with it either.

From what I've read, only BMW are happy enough with KERS to consider running it at Melbourne. Whether they do or not depends on whether it would be deemed an advantage or not pace wise I guess. While Melbourne is quite quick, perhaps there's no straight long enough to warrant the risk... then again, if they're the only one, it would be a massive advantage if they had to come through the field... and it always seems like someone is doing that at Melbourne!

Onto the actual final tests now. ;-)

'Nando's made a fine mess of the Renault by sticking it into the tyre wall early on, stopping the session for half an hour, apparently without setting a time, so something probably broke.

Just the 2 times so far. Rubens is already down to what was a good pace earlier in testing (19.8 - the only '09 time lower than that that I remember was Vettel setting a 19.0). Hulkenberg has just gone to without 2 tenths of the BGP with a 20.0.

Is this going to be something new for us then this year?
Hi-res versions would be awesome and a great edition to the F1 site.

Love the pictures, if they will be high res those would be amazing during the season if they can make them useable at race weekends

Judging from some of Heidfeld's comments, BMW seem to be pretty sorted with KERS alright. Kovalainen reckoned Macca would start with it, and since they've little else going for them, if it's working then they might as well use it, since it seems not many others are.

Force India are deffo not using it, Brawn, presumably won't be using it, Toyota and Williams don't seem to be too keen, Ferrari had their problems, although they appear to be sorted now. Hard to know what the Red Bulls are doing. I think Renault might use it. Like a number of things this year, it's a real flip of the coin thing, which is good for throwing unpredictability into the mix. However, like gav said, Melbourne probably isn't the most advantageous circuit for it. Malaysia is far more promising.

Felipe said Ferrari is going with Kers for Melbourne.

If Ferrari do I can see nothing but problems. They've broken down so many times in testing with the same problem of KERS overheating even without reaching a race distance.

FIA tested the onboard photo function in Barcelona:

These photos were taken from specialised cameras, not regular onboards. As you can see they are even mounted in impossible positions.

Didn't Honda start developing their KERS system a long time ago? Why wouldn't Brawn use it then?

From Autosport:

...As yet the team does not have plans to run KERS. Considering its late start to the season and limited budget, this seems to be a sensible route to take, as KERS is not mandatory in 2009. This choice might even have gained Brawn GP some of its pace, as the car can be configured to run ballast in the most efficient places (i.e. towards the front) rather than some 30Kg of the ballast being replaced by the KERS system in less efficient locations.

Honda have developed a pretty nifty KERS system, but Brawn don't seem to be interested in using it atm. Dunno why, but I'm guessing it's just easier to get the car running without the extra work involved in integrating it into the car.

Doesn't look like they need it atm - Barrichello once again breaking records in Jerez today, the car seems too good to be true but I really really really hope it can compete for this years championship, what a phenominal stroy that would be!

Barrichello didn't beat anything - if anything they were further back compared to the opposition than they were at Barcelona, but I guess that's not an issue, as they've not got any data for Jerez.

Rubens was 2 tenths off of Vettel's '09 best earlier this winter, while Alonso was only 6 tenths off of Rubens, which is quite a improvement... though he did crash (suspected suspension failure) and miss all of the morning session.

I've seen conflicting reports on McLaren. The majority suggest that they never intended to run today (instead opting to run Monday to Thursday while waiting on new parts, rather than the Sunday to Wednesday the others are likely to run), some suggest Hamilton did a single installation lap (in which case I guess they've lost a day), while a couple of reports claim that the car broke on that installation lap... though I'd be staggered if that was the case - surely they'd have got it going in the afternoon.
