I agree. But I think they should really go with just about any other driver they're in touch with - Bourdais, Sato, Button, Barrichello, Senna. Bourdais/Sato would be my preference with Button/Barrichello driving for the team that ought to take over Honda.

honda supposedly have this big new sponsor for 2009 (petrobras) so its gonna be senna. rubens doesn't seem to have even been mentioned whatsoever, sadly.

I think that if Honda hadn't gone for the "Earth" Approach they might've stayed on the grid with the moonies from sponsorship

The Thunder from Downunder

I'm sorry to shatter your dreams, but last year DR said that if ProDrive was to enter F1, it wasn't going to be called Aston Martin.

And times have changed. They have an Aston Martin LMP (engine and chassis) coming, and a brand to promote during difficult financial times.

Yes. The engine in the back of Charouz Lola will be in the back of an Aston Martin LMP if it is ready for Le Mans 2009. It is the same engine that is in the GT1 DBR9, with a different restrictor.

yeah the rumour mill points to red bull/str and toyota.

toyota didn't mention their commitment to f1, rather their commitment to 'aiming to be the best'.

and red bull rumours suggest the repurchase of bergers share of toro rosso was to enable the entire red bull outfit to be sold in one.

rumours tho, nothing more than specuation and hysteria.

Red Bulls commitment to Motorsport, and increased funding for the NASCAR Team suggests to me that they will not be pulling out of F1.

I'm looking at Toyota, or if 2009 goes badly, Renault.

do you think the loss of the french gp would add anything to fuel the fire of renault leaving? if they were, of course...

If Red bull was seriously considering leaving F1, then why did Dietrich Mateschitz buy the remaining half of Torro Rosso back from Gerhard Berger just a few days ago... That really would not make any sense.

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.

that would really make sense because as mentioned before, he might want to sell the whole Red Bull package as one.
