McLaren sent him out (or he decided to go with) intermediates which seems like an incredibly stupid risk to take in Q2 when everyone else was clearly going out on wets doesn't it?

Massa again benefits from pure luck.

Steve Ryder sounds like someone has died reporting on Hamilton finishing 15th.

It wasn't pure luck. He set that time when Hamilton was out setting times, and Kimi was doing the same. May be a different setup, but it wasn't luck. His was last improvement.

Didn't seem much like luck to me! on the same lap Hamilton and Raikkonen were still 2-3 seconds off his 10th place time.

Lewis was lapping 2 seconds slower than everybody else at the same time they were on track.

Epic laps by Vettel, Heikki, Webber and Bourdais.

I predict a race, just as great as japan 2005, it must be with hamilton, kubica and kimi coming from outside of the top 10, with vettel on pole, unbelievable.

I started to get nervous when Heikki was on his final lap, coming up to the line he looked like he might nick it.

Delighted for the staff at STR who have been there since the Minardi days, about time they had something major to cheer about :D

Yes, that was totally rubbish. What were they thinking when all others were lapping on wets? In uncertain conditions either you do what others do, or you gamble. And with just 2 points deficit and so much to lose, you have no logic to gamble.

The inters issue with McLaren made no difference at the end. Massa was still lapping in the high 1.37.xs, and Lewis was only in the 1.39.xs. Same time, 2 seconds difference. I wouldn't be surprised if they found a problem on his car. But come the end of it, he was no where even on equal conditions.

Superb qualifying, Sebastian Vettel is a star in the making. He does remind me of Stefan Belloff.

it was interesting to hear Dennis saying "Focus Lewis, just 1 lap" almost like if they knew the speed was there, just that Lewis was not doing it...

anyways at least Kovalainen was right up there for the top teams.. he's looking good tomorrow for his 2nd win

and where's Piquet?

If Hamilton had lapped at the same time with Kovalainen instead of waiting in the pit, he would have ended up higher. Anyway maybe Hamilton and Kimi will fill up the fuel tank. But in such conditions where situation may change and pilots have to do additional pits, I wonder if filling the tank works.

Torro Rosso are amazing in the wet, Vettels pole was no fluke either because Bourdais got his car up to 4th as well. Maybe they should just close Red Bull and focus on Torro rosso!!
I hope they switch engines or something next year because theirs no point in Vettel moving at the moment.
