Until when teams have to decide their fuel levels? I mean will Kimi and Lewis able to change their fuel levels according to weather foreceasts?

Most of them will be on 1 stoppers.

As most are expecting dry weather tomorrow, surely McLaren have put a full dry setup on Hamilton's car or something, with Heikki going a bit softer.

Perhaps more of the same at Ferrari, with Kimi softer than Massa.

I've a feeling Hamilton will go for an aggressive 2 stop strategy tomorrow, rather than taking the obvious route. Do what everyone else does, and he'll struggle more to overtake them, probably finishing 5th or 4th. Go aggressive and he'll slice through the field while those at the front are squabbling for 2nd place (Heikki ought to win easily enough).

Zonta showed what a poor car can do with a lighter fuel load in 2000. He was hurt by the race being only over about 40 laps or something in the end (with the medical personnel on the track and debris from the 2nd turn accident), but he'd have faired better if it was over the original distance. Surely a car many feel is the fastest here can win or at least lose minimal points by doing the same.

They must have changed it quickly then, as he dropped 4 seconds between Q1 and Q2, whilst others dropped between 4 tenths and 2 seconds.

Where is this "dry weather" people mention? F1.com, weather.com and local weather reports all reported between 80% and 100% chance of rain and storms.

Just going off what the teams and drivers were saying. None concrete, but it seemed the consensus was that it was going to be a lot drier than today.

Might have just misread that one. We'll see.

Dry weather tomorrow? Really?

I think what they mean is that it will rain, but not as heavily as today and friday. I'm not looking forward to another Fuji type of race with just Safety Cars all the time.

Kimi and Lewis were so far off the pace that i got the same impression as Gav, in that Kimi and Lewis, possibly Kubica, are set up for dry, and Massa and Heikki gone for a better grid position.

ah, but remember that newey is very good at desugning a chasis with very little aero. watch out for red bull next year.

Hold on, don't celebrate Vettel's pole just yet! The stewards might decide that it's too much of a disadvantage to Ferrari and penalise him!

In all seriousness though, great laps from both STR drivers but particularly Vettel. IIRC Red Bull (the team) are focusing their resources on 2009, whilst Red Bull (the parent company) are trying to get the Torro Rosso as quick as possible this season because they will have to use that car again next year. Since they won't be able to buy their car from Red Bull.

I think that's why Torro Rosso are so much quicker at this stage of the season. But starting next year, Red Bull *should* be back on top.

eh?

NASCAR has got it worse than that. Good try, but...

I haven't had that fun watching qualy since ever. Glad to see ferrari going conservative than risk massa going to fast and then boop! Brilliant drive from Vettel in the wet. Those guys at Faenza really deserved it after the Fuji incident and the hard work they put in this year :)

fantastic qualifying, in particular for the red bull trio!

well done to massa for getting into Q3, it will be interesting to see what his strategy is for the race.

anyway, i think this is going to be an absolute cracker race, potentially Nurburgring 1999 and Suzuka 2005 combined. Kovy would be the slight favourite i suppose, but Webber, Vettel and Massa are in with a shot, obviously depending on the weather and their strategies. The first corner will be crucial as always, kimi and lewis will need to watch out to avoid damage, as there is usually a few broken front wings on the first lap.

hopefully webber and vettel don't take each other out again like fuji, because that would really be devastating for both of them.

Wow great quali, we need rain more often then hopefully a dry race to make things interesting.

Vettel, just fantastic especially if gehard is telling the truth with him not being on a full wet setup!
Hope he can keep up the good work with a solid top 5 tomorrow. And bourdais showing good form just like I said thought earlier about both torro rosso's making it into top 10.

Im puzzled about Kimi and Hamilton, and not sure what setup they're on but they had no pace! Id assume them being on more of a dry...

Cant wait until tomorrow to seeing them make their way through the pack. Would love to see Kimi to do similar to Suzuka 05.

And the gp2 race was great! The conditions changed from wet to dry and really made it fun!

I wud compare Stock Car Basil more to SASCAR than NASCAR.. And here in Finland we reach same level of racing even with bit cheaper cars..

&feature=related ;)

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

No Suzuka 05 again. MP4-20 was a sec faster than the rest of the field. But now there are just tenths between teams and all the field is in 2sec split.

Congratulations to the belgian GP stewards for ruining a 1 year work of the iSport challenger, they decided the title not the weather @ Monza... Giorgio kept doing mistake after mistake.

Mind you, Giorgio was desperate to lose it when being chased by Di Grassi and then when he crossed the white line on pit exit thus serving a DT... It just shows why Giorgio wont have another chance in F1. Hes too much inconsistant and too much weak under pressure. I'm sorry for whoever gives him another chance in F1, he just won the title because he was helped by stewards with "double standards for unsafe pit release penalties"... and because Turkey couldnt keep their track clean from dogs! Also iSport was useless at times - especially when releasing Bruno from pits, that happened twice, with Di Grassi @ Silverstone and Valerio @ Spa. I still cant understand why the hell they took longer to give him a car ready for Monza in qualy yesterday. That was very unprofessional.

But anyway Im pleased with Brunos performance this year, hes seriously a great driver to watch. looking forward to see him in F1 next year.

I dont mean for him to exactly repeat suzuka 05 but instead I want to see that kind of performance from him like we saw at the beginning stages of spa.....

GP2: yup pantano made a noobish mistake by passing that white line, with his experience in both gp2 and f1 he should know better. I cant say if he deserved the title or not this year but all i know is that im glad he will be out of gp2 as he has spent too much time there...i guess the good thing drivers like senna and grosjean can take out of it, is that they have had a good measure against him at times so they know themselves they have good potential

why kimi and hamilton where slow? Simple to explain, when kimi was on his fast lap he spun off, then the lap after it began to rain harder. Lewis went on intermediates, but it wasnt good and he went back for normal rain tyres, then it began to rain harder. Nothing strange in that imo ;)
