chet, I think Bourdais was actually catching up and defating Vettel with STR2b after few races. STR3 then has beeen causing him probs as the car is understeering in fast corners and oversteering in slow ones - what he doesn't like. But not taking anything from Vettel, he's very talented.

Personally, I don't like the look of the circuit. I think it's ugly and in an unattractive location, but at the same time I think it's going to be good for racing. So it might win me over yet. :)

Great runs from the Toro Rosso cars, although I thought we would always see a Ferrari / McLaren front row. If it's true that the right hand side of the grid has more grip than the left, Hamilton's looking in good shape for the race, since he seemed to have more pace than Massa before the fuelled runs.

And whilst part of me wants Toro Rosso to have a good race, part of me also wants Vettel to get an average start and keep himself out of the way of the Championship battle, which is really looking exceptional at the moment!

The circuit doesn't look at good right now, looks wise, but all in all, i for once really enjoy qualifying after a long time, whereas half the time i nearly ended up bored. The spanish government should now just get rid of Barcelona as we've found its replacement and which also offers some speciality for the racing. Massa for the race win ofcourse :D, but I want to see Vettel come from 6th and get on the podium, bourdais too he looks good around this place. Now what do you guys think about the Glock situation? Will they put him back 5 places because of what happened to Heidfeld and Piquet or will they forget about it?

RIP Bird :(

yeah, i agree with monil, about the glock situation. looking at the grid, if vettel gets a good strart, he has himself in for a podium. i think massa and hamilton both have a chance of winning, as does mr. r. although look where bourdais is! i also think vettel is the next senna, becuase he is good on street tracks, so he should be good at singapore, in a months time (at night!!!!;);););););))

They've moved it to the right now:

Pole slot moved to right side of track

By Jonathan Noble Saturday, August 23rd 2008, 12:36 GMT

The pole position slot for the European Grand Prix has been switched to the right side of the track ahead of this weekend's first race in Valencia.

The original first slot was situated on the left hand side of the track, which was supposed to have been more favourable for the racing line into the first right hand corner.

But after observing the behaviour of cars during practice on Friday and Saturday, FIA Formula One safety delegate Charlie Whiting has announced that the pole position slot will now be moved to the right.

A statement issued shortly before qualifying said: "Having observed the line taken by cars across the grid, and in accordance with Article 36.2 (a) off the F1 Sporting Regulations, the first grid position will be removed and pole position will now be on the right hand side of the grid."

The regulation refers to the layout of the grid, stating that on new circuits the pole position side is decided by the FIA safety delegate.

Ya.. I was laughing my head of after seeing Senna cruising so slow. Also lol @ Pantano. ;)

Kimi, so, Massa Fernando Sebastian is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?

LOL jus seen that in GP2 too...

In f1, great lap by massa to take pole. Hamilton did well but i expect him to be a few laps lighter than Massa. I think Kimi might be heaviest out of top 4 like last time.

Haha!

That's impossible, you need to have monkeys on the pitwall to do that kind of strategy ;)

its amazing how close all the cars are, approx 100 second laps and everyone seperated by only 2 seconds. but that didnt look good for heidfeld as most of the weekend (Except q2 for some anomolous reason) he was about .5 second behind his own teammate, i dont think he will be at bmw next year.

Yup, that is pretty cool I guess you can say its 2% performance difference from Ferrari to Force India, purely from the car alone seeing as though engine is the same, except probably a development or two behind for the India car. First of all that alone shows how impressive ForceIndia are seeing as though Ferrari spend more than 2% more than Force India, or that it's easy enough ( relativley ) to make an F1 car fast, just to get that extra 2% more needs so much more money and development which atm ForceIndia do not have.

Again it says something about the rest of the teams and prep for this GP. Its a long track with alot of time to be lost in alot of places, and yet they are all so close. I would expect the gap between the teams to be alot bigger, and pre-gp I expected it to be like Catalyna, ie the teams to run in tandom, ie the other Mclaren would not be far behind the leading one.

did you know that roberts steering wheel is upholstered with leather while Nick prefers a silicone material that is perfectly adapted to the shape of his hands?

Does anybody else suspect that Vettel is fuelled heavily? I reckon he has genuine pace to keep up with the front runners, judging by his pace in Q1 and Q2. Apparently he locked up at a corner on his final lap, but even so, that shouldn't make a difference of over a second.

I think I'm right in saying Vettel ran wide at that corner which hates undertrays on his last hot lap, thus losing time and finishing further down.

I wonder how many cars will be excluded after the race for a worn plank.

It was a good session and a good pole from massa. I think lewis will win though.

Wouldn't have thought any cars would be excluded for worn plank tbh, they'd have to run on it heavilly every lap. Eau Rouge at Spa is worse and I think only Schumi in '95 has paid the price for that.
