that 2nd lap for hamilton, he had the biggest slide in the final corner, it looked like he was drifting rather than driving

It's so difficult to read into these practise sessions but I think Ferrari look significantly faster with the heavier fuel loads on their runs compared to Hamilton's sprint lap. If it's dry then Lewis should be able to snatch pole but the Ferraris will catch him in the race. Also we've gotta remember that in Melbourne a lot of teams esp. BMW didn't show their pace until Saturday so they might still be able to get amongst the top four.

But the again, the only thing that counts for Ferrari, although they were fast in training, is the alltime favourite cliché:

"To finish first, you first have to finish."

And with a not working ECU made by their archvillains McLaren, only Italians in the pitbox, ánd a Macca which uses a ferrari-syle/stolen flexwing, it's going to be a tough weekend for the Scuderia ;)

by looking at the the sessions ferrari has a big advantage there is no way lewis will make his tyres last driving like that to get a time.

Mclaren need bmw to get infront of ferrari.

In australia though though it looked like mclaren and ferrari had a second over the rest yet in fp3 that all changed.

But they are having probs with the last turn.

I'm aure the Maccas would much rather get in front of Ferrari themselves than be overtaken by BMW ;)

I doubt it a little but yes they do get some advantage from that... anyway it will most likely rain sunday so things that we saw today are not important then anymore.

But they need to preserve their engines for two races
I don't think they pushed really hard on the engines
thus no actual advantage from it

Last year there was a rule change, that on friday you can use another engine then in the race, it was so people would drive more on friday, so i think they arent driving their engines that they use for saterday/sunday ;)

Yup - you can use a different engine on Friday and there's no penalty for changing it should it fail, luckily for Toro Rosso and F.India :P

Certainly news to me. I won't go as far as to say that they've got a problem. The Australia incident was fully acceptable. You build a car to the regulations, and if it gets launched, parts will fail. It was just the way it landed. You see that sort of thing happen all the time in many areas of motorsport.

In this case I'm just going to assume it's a freak accident, and if an internal part failed (like the anti-roll bar I suggested a couple of pages previous) then it's possible that the uprights also failed under load as a result. Once the left-front had gone the chances of similar damage to the right-front increase many times too, and remember it had already failed.

I'm not convinced that Vettel's failure wasn't related. It looks like a disc exploding, but if you look at a video, you can clearly see the wheel or suspension has gone too, as the right-front is running at a peculiar angle (positive camber). Whether that was caused by the disc failure or the disc failure was caused by it we'll not know until STR say so, if they themselves know.

Either way, RBR and STR have some major issues to sort out. Be they suspension or brake discs, something is breaking.

You have a new engine gear box for friday.

From sat morning u must use the engine and gear box from the last race, unless of course its the 2nd or 4th race.

I dont know if rbr will be allowed to race tbh I just dont see how that is safe at all.

gearbox lasts for 4 races ;-)

That is news to me about the engine. RBR and STR have some problems with the suspension and brakes as last week DC's disc popped and now Seb. They really sort it out, who knows it might not happen in race and blow someone else out if one of the RBR or STR flunk themselves
