I wouldnt be supprised if Mclaren seat became available for 2008.

Just grr that JB is signed for 2008, and you know he wont want another Buttongate.

So I wonder IF alonso or lewis for that matter isnt in a mclaren in 2008, who will be.?

There are some stories that Alonso will go to BMW next year and either nick or even JB could end up at Mclaren.

Either way it does look like alonso will not be at mclaren after this year, and tbh I dont think they will miss him.

tbh alot of the problems in mclaren have been caused by alonso who keeps on slagging the team off to the press. I dont think he ever thought lewis would be giving him a hard time and alonso can not handle it.

Lewis has said sorry to the team for sat and they should now just move on and forget it, its done not much they can do about it now.

Lewis was faster in quali anyway even with a heavy fuel load it still looked like he would have got pole, but we will never know that.

It's not really a question of pointing fingers at any one of the drivers since the problems are mostly the result of McLaren's somewhat inflexible although admittedly greatly limited by the current regulations (SC procedures, fuel credits etc) way of ensuring equality within the team and secondly the extra media (and other) scrutiny given their championship position and having a reigning double World Championship and a very talented rookie driver.

What is slightly troubling for Dennis is a clear need to change the operating practices to avoid future conflicts while maintaining equality or lose one of the drivers otherwise.

Reading the news about him taking a vacation would to me indicate that need to rethink certain thinks within the team.

Yep, Mclaren haven't had two top drivers with such determined and selfish nature's since Prost and Senna and hadn't factored this extraordinary tussle for supremacy when the season began.
Mclaren does need to revise it's stragies to avoid a simlar scenario to what happened on Saturday.

Sorry but that's not true. The last time Fernando said anything negative was several months ago and even then the British press takes what he says and twists it to make it look worse than it is.

Dunno he was saying after quali the reason why ron was angry was beacuse he was fastest and not the british driver.

It was on f1-live.

It would not supprise to see ron stand down at the end of the year either he looks like he has had enough.

No doubt lewis will get a team fine, he could have cost them alot of money.

U can sort of see why ferrari had a number 1 and 2 driver, even though i do not agree with that.

It's BS. Alonso will be at McLaren in 2008. So will Hamilton.

Alonso's problem is that he expects to be the preffered driver for winning two world championships & was used to that coming from Renault.

Suppose so, but he doesnt expect a rookie not to follow his teams-orders, Alonso is understandably angry.

Alonso can not really comment though about following race track procedures and rule can he.

Remember after China last year as well having a go at fissi and the team.

I dont agree with what Lewis done but its done now get over it, and even though Lewis done that alonso did not look good on fuel burning runs he was off track a few times.

Mclaren though do seem to hold their cars in the pits longer than most teams, but then they are able to due to the way the engine works.

And I dont think the FIA have any right telling a team how to go racing. There was no rule about how long u could stay in the pits for.

You don't impede a driver, there's a rule against it.

Taking away WCC points is a different matter though.

The whole thing should have been left for mclaren to deal with and not the FIA. They seem to cause more problems than fix.

no, i don't agree with you Marcl. the FIA had to intervene because after Monza last year, they clarified that anyone judged to have deliberately held up another competitor during qualifying will be penalised.

and from what we saw, Alonso deliberately held up Hamilton.

the fact that it was his own teammate that suffered doesn't even come into it.

what Alonso did is exactly the same as blocking someone on-track who is trying to do a qualli lap, you've ruined their lap. Alonso stopped Lewis from even attempting his lap.

i don't agree with the arbitrary 5 place drop though, it just seems too random.

the person who did the blocking should just have all their Q3 times deleted and be made to start 10th (or if it happens in Q2, then make them start 16th, or in Q1 make them start 22nd, you get the picture).

RIP Jules, never to be forgotten. #KeepFightingMichael

I think it should have been his fastest time that was deleted if anything.

The part I dont get is the none scoring of mclaren for the long pit stop. Thats the bit I am reffering to.

I agree marc.

The amount of negative press leveled at both Mclaren and their drivers would put pay to those kind of antics form happening again.

If both their drivers want to play games then i don't see how Mclaren themselves should be blamed for that.

If I remember correct Ferrari did not loose the points in Austria 2002, and mclaren did not loose theirs from Australia 1998. For me them 2 things are a lot worse than what happened in quali.

If the FIA are going to impose points bans than at least be consistant.

What fissi done was a lot more dangerous than what alonso done and yet he only got dropped 5 places. Fissi actually could have caused a crash.

Last year if i remember right alonso lost his 2 best laps in Italy? they are just all over the place with rules.

I do hope mclaren appeal tbh even though its more court hearings.

Lol.

That is something the FIA lack.

McLaren's actions as a team were one of the contributing factors why each and every fan watching the qualifying was robbed of a genuine duel for pole.

I don't like the point penalty, but the team could have handled the situation a lot better instead of that 20 second countdown with no car in sight.

So do I. People shouldn't think everything on the internet is true...
