Watch the race again Astro, see how many times Lewis swiped the barriers trying to keep up with Fernando towards the end of the race, even Lewis admitted it.

lewis and alonso will not lose points as they dont nothing wrong if anyone loses points it will be mclaren.

Ron should not have said a word i think the ocasion just got the better of him really as thats the best race they have had in years.

Ron did not really say that much wrong anyway, he made it clear that the switched lewis to a 2 stop and they past the bit the safty car would have made a differnce.

If lewis was on a 1 stop his quali lap was about the best ever lap lol. He would not have been any good on the super softs with a heavy fuel load anyway look how bad massa went.

Well i was waiting for a few races but all the hype around Lewis is correct. No other rookie has got 5 podium places in his 5 first races. He has a reliable car and a fast one but seeing his driving style and how he defended his line in the battle with massa you must admit he is the future of the F1.
I wouldn't mind so him in a ferrari in 2 years when kimi's contract is over at ferrari :-)

And that the hype went from Button to Lewis is very normal, Button @#$%& his career when the crap started at honda by that contract issue to go to williams. He would have stand much futher if he would have gone to williams at that moment, now he is a driver like Ralf > worth @#$%&!

I don't know about Lewis being the future of F1. Too early for me to consider that. The five podiums may have a lot more to do with the car than Lewis's prowess as a driver. Plus he is not the first rookie out of the box to impress.

I agree after button naturally the B. Public would be looking for another Hero .. and who better than Lewis, true also, Button hasn't a clue concerning career decisions his own deception with the Williams contract has well and truly bitten him on the Arse! Unfortunately he will go down in History as another nearly man .......... B.T.W .... Who the hell is Ralf Schumacher ..........?

Lewis Hamilton will be in F1 for the next 13 or 14 years, I guarantee it. He is most definetly the future of F1. Along with Rosberg and Kubica and hopefully (just because I like the guy) Kovalainen.

Oh yeah those guys are definitely the future of F1, no doubt about it. Ron Dennis isn't too impressed by any of the GP2 drivers atm and i have to agree.

So getting the rear end out and doing 4 wheel drifts isn't pushing hard... were we watching the same race? Hamilton even kissing a couple of walls...

Fact was them two drivers were pushing hard, if you couldn't see that from the TV pictures maybe you should question what you regard as `pushing their butts off.`

nobodies disagreeing they did push for a majority of the early portion of the race. you just need to get your timeframe sorted and then maybe you'll be able to keep along with the discussion. kthxbye

Kova has been less than impressive though.

tbf, I think it will be Rosberg and Lewis... Kubica has been on-off against a good team-mate, but not a two time world champ.

Rosberg, has shown a great deal of maturity this season, and imo could develop into a very very very good racer.

And who is Rosberg against?

It's a lot easier to look good against Wurz than to be on par with one of the best drivers in Heidfeld.

Indeed true, but we dont know how quick Wurz really is, Mclaren know hes quick, hell thats why was their tester for so long, hes probably the most inteligant driver or at least one of the most.

And last year, Nico made the rookie mistakes probably expected but this season he even looks to have shown to have improved a great deal.

Kovy should be forgoten as driver of the future, he wasnt great in gp2, and not once so far has shown good enough pace to be considered as someone to take on the best.

Did not renault have the chance to hire DC, I thought he was a candidate for a seat??? If so a big loss to Renault imo.

who is to say renault wont ditch fisi for DC to the end of the season...or for next year?

piquet jnr will be a renault driver next year for sure...but will they risk 2 newbies in kovo and piquet in one team? RISKY!

bring DC to renault, loan piquet to redbull, or ditch heikki to redbull.

even webber to renault, though he is far too highly overrated.

I bet Flavio will sack Kovalainen first. He has been by far the biggest disappointment yet.

What's speed got to do with testing? All Wurz has shown in his career is that he could hack it, briefly, with 2 past-it relics from the 80s. Other than having a spectacular crash, I can't remember him for anything else. :\

I guess you've not re-watched the race then Astro, Keiran just confirmed what i wrote earlier but you could visibly see Lewis hanging out his car on the edge and beyond it several times in the LATER stages of the race. If he was holding station i doubt he would have been risking a puncture or damaged suspension in his attempt to catch Fernando.
Apparently he was none too happy about being told to slow down, which he evidently didn't.

Tbh Wurz has dissapointed in qualifying this year but his races have usualy been better, Malaysia (from 20th on the grid to 9th) and Monaco for instance. He is slowly improving but for speed he is no match for Nico who i do rate highly.

My money is on piquet jnr getting a drive at Renault ... hope so any way.
He gave Lewis a head-ache in GP2 so that would be interesting.

Chaging the subject slightly...

Mad max's little rant about F1 of the future:

he makes some interesting points, especially towards the end of the page

I never said he wasn't quick, just none of his races in the past I can remember him for anything positive. I can't recall one single event when he exceeded expectations enough for it to stick in my head. The one thing I do remember is him battling with MS in 1998 at Monaco... and he slammed it into the tunnel wall because of that. ;)

I remember Wurz had some good races as a replacement for Berger in 1997 but it was noted that he did well because Berger did the development on the car to get it to handle well.
I think Wurz is a great test driver and gives good feedback but is not a particularly great driver and certainly not an ace qualifier.
