"This year hardly any when went out the race only wurz and kimi made any progress on their starting places."

Speed.

And it was really helpful that Schumacher went from being 6 seconds behind Coulthard to 60 without picking any positions up because of the SC.

Canada will put to test Hondas improvments...

But this week, whilst the teams head to Silverstone, Honda wil head to Jerez to test their updated car ;-)

Both showed good pace but yet again, the laptimes say JB was the quicker once released, every so often he'd drop back to set a good lap... then once RB did a good time JB would follow up and beat or match it. The two had a great battle and JB was VERY lucky Hieddy came out the pits where he did because he was slow, and held Kimi up BAD and let JB 'finally' get on with the job. Both drivers disapointed, but tbf, they raced the two Williams and had comparable pace with them, so thats a huge improvment. Only annoying thing is JB should have stayed out 1 more lap longer before his second stop because he set his best second sector, then came upto traffic in final sector, then pitted, however he could have got the traffic out of the way up the straight, then go for another quick lap, and probably would have been out in front of RB, im sure he could have done it because he pitted 4laps afer rb for the first stop then second stop only 1lap after and yet both had more or less same stop time...

Massa drove a solid race, but nothing worth noting, Hiekki just @#$%& up quali, I dont think he had the 1lap pace, but going by Fizzy, im sure Hiekki would have scored points if he get Quali right... if not Fizzy owned him, and bad.

BMW not showing near enough the pace they have been doing. Granted, wasnt Kubica stuck behind RB for quite abit of the race.

There were some good battles on track though, the two Mclarens...

The two Williams and Kimi verses the two Hondas and Heikki and DC.

Btw, I felt DC was abit moaning after the race about his front wing, would it really have mattered that much ?? I mean in the final 10 or so laps he was flying! :s

edit - test not this week, week after next ;-)

"I was quite surprised, because I was fuelled to do five, nearly six laps longer than Fernando, and they stopped me with three laps," Hamilton said.

"So the time where I was really able to bridge the gap, I wasn't really given much time. I came in two or three laps after. So that's unfortunate, but that's the way it goes.

so McLaren stopped Hamilton to win ? looks like it...

I don't buy that. Fernando showed that he had enough in hand to beat Lewis fairly and squarely this time.

No he didnt. Look how Lewis caught him 20laps from the end, and then he had to stay away from Fernando. And then he says that this was his easiest win in his career. Rofl...

1) Boring Race... Gave me some Great sleep!

2) Mclaren strong, expect the reverse again for Canada and US.

3) The FIA is smoking some really strong stuff. Get all these 21st century rules out of there.
a) Rev limiting is completely useless and gives to boring races
b) Engines: 5 year engine ban? 5 races in I am already bored of it
c) Points system is completely redundant. Stop punishing people because Schumacher won so easily!
d) street circuits? NO MORE! PLEASE! In Cart you can have them cause the cars can pass each other, Formula One is Boring ENOUGH this year!
e) Elements on the cars (areo bits) need to be limited at least. The winglets and bits are making the cars unable to follow each other at any circuit.
f) Traction Control, Get rid of it for good
g) Bring back slicks, why do we seriously need to use two different tyre compounds? It doesnt add to ANYTHING!
h) Remove all engine restrictions, I wouldnt mind seeing a bulky V12 or a high pitched V10 screaming down into the tunnel at Monaco. The cars are behaving like stock cars all the same.
i) kill the creation of similar circuits.
j) Bring back the Old Hockenhiem configuration
k) These drivers arent even racing anymore. Even worse they arent afraid to admit it, RE: Massa post race comments. A MONKEY CAN DRIVE AN F1 CAR these days!!!
j) Get rid of all these reliability rules. Reliability has killed the sport. I want to see engines blowing up. I want to see teams pushing the limits of machinary and technology to gain a competative advantage.

I dont want to waste too much more of your time. Just a quick comment on the drivers.

Kimi is overrated, and it is getting to him. Michael Schumacher should come out of retirement for Canada, I still believe he can win the championship this year. Massa has been consistant, so has the Mclaren duo. The hype regarding Hamilton is slightly justified, he has been doing great, he has been up there. But then again he has been driving the best car on the grid. The hype 5 races in is getting annoying now, lets cool it people!!!

Anyway formula one is dying, there is something really missing this year aside from Passing.

cheers

mclaren could have made the desion to bring him in early due to a few reasons

Traffic as there was some before his 1st and also they did not want him to push extra hard and hit the wall after the race he did say he hit the wall a number of times.

@ Bigbrother

If you don't like kimi, don't come here bubling on how bad he is or how over-rated is he, just because you hate him.

I don't like hamilton and alonso too, but i don't do pointless talkin about how crap they are, and when-ever a ferrari car got pole instead of a mclaren driver, i didn't said...alonso sucks, he's overated, he can't get a pole...

so go get a life

Check out the who made the fastest lap, plus Alonso went paced himself and was never as ragged as Lewis was.

the debate isnt about kimi vs ms from last year. its just that if you look at how the race panned out today - scott speed was only one position behind...from 18th. and the 2 hondas gifted kimi 2 positions with really weird strategies. yes some things went against kimi...but he wasnt even close to passing anyone. maybe with wurz but kept going closer and the dropped back. and im a huge ferrari fan! at least schumi showed spirit, kimi just looked unhappy with the car and theres no excuse come race day for that. 3 test sessions and quali to prepare and set up a car. the best f1 drivers get a ballanced car by the race (alonso was at one with his car).and yes the crash may have made a difference but come on. get your head in gear kimi. most of the field looked more up for it in lesser cars than him today.

Alonso would have known lewis would not try and pass him so he slowed his pace down look how slow he was after his 2nd pit stop being extra careful.

Lewis did not have the pace in the 1st part of the race and thats why he did not win simple as that.

A great drive though not many people finish 2nd in their 1st monaco gp.

feel for hamilton. think hes over-achieving at the moment and might be reaching the limits of his skills at this given point in time. hes battling against those with lots of experience , especially a double world champion and only time can bring that....where does he go next? still, if he was racing a few years abck with the lower relibility rates might have won a race. been ages since driver in lead broken down (ms in suzuka last can remember but before that was a while).

I don't agree with some of what you said, but I'm with you there. I'm yet to watch a session (qually or race) live this year yet. I just record it and start playing it about half an hour later (45mins today) so I can just skip the ITVness and adverts. I just can't motivate myself to watch F1. My life used to revolve around it - I hadn't missed a race broadcast for 14 years until 2003. :S

Anyway - I love Monaco - it's one of the few great driver tests left. It's magical to watch cars dancing between the barriers, even when they've dumbed down the track. Watching Alonso and Hamilton was just awesome. I know before the race there will be no overtaking, but it just doesn't bother me. The drivers losing huge clumps of time in traffic, the noise, everything is just awesome. I hope Valencia isn't a Melbourne sort of street circuit - technically one, but just like a standard road race (don't get me wrong, I love Melbourne, I just don't see it as a street course).

As I said before, rather than saying that Monaco is Lewis Hamilton's best chance of a win this season, i truely believed that this was the best chance of a mistake, due to the inexperience he has in F1.

As such, he performed well, but was outpaced by Alonso. No shame in that.

Red Sam's got it there IMHO... This was Lewis's biggest chance to n00b up against a barrier, and he stayed clear of them during quali and the race despite hanging his car out around many of the corners. He even managed a great race, so no sign of a mistake!

At the end of the day, he was only beaten by his double World Champion team-mate who is regarded by many as the best driver currently in F1. Not a bad day at work.
