FAO all,

I was in the middle of making a 2010 guide but I noticed there is already a thread made... Looks very similar to mine but not by me. I had this idea to help users and hopefully it has. Unfortunately I will not be finishing the new page designs and layout as two 2010 threads would just be confusing and pointless. I may finish this thread somewhere else that doesn't have one so keep an eye out as you browse around.

Things to do before updating to 2009

Start with a fresh GP4 installation [or another installation of GP4 in a different directory] and install the official GP4 patch. Then get the 9.6 decrypted GP4.exe and put into the main GP4 folder [usually C:/Program Files/Infogrames/Grand Prix 4] I usually rename the original GP4.exe to GP4_bk.exe incase you need it again. Then download the new GPxPatch version 3.93 and install. Finally, always backup whatever files you are replacing or editing - it's better to be safe than sorry!

Car Order Guide
For those wanting your season 2009 to be in grid order, change the "car_xxx_carx_lod_x.gp4" file only, not the .tex files. Your .gp4 files should renamed as below:

McLaren 2009.gp4 files become "car_ferrari_carx_lod_x.gp4"
Ferrari 2009.gp4 files become "car_mclaren_carx_lod_x.gp4
BMW Sauber 2009.gp4 files become "car_williams_carx_lod_x.gp4
Renault F1 2009.gp4 files become "car_benetton_carx_lod_x.gp4
Toyota 2009.gp4 files become "car_bar_carx_lod_x.gp4
Scuderia Toro Rosso 2009.gp4 files become "car_jordan_carx_lod_x.gp4
Red Bull Racing 2009.gp4 files become "car_arrows_carx_lod_x.gp4
Williams F1 2009.gp4 files become "car_sauber_carx_lod_x.gp4
Force India 2009.gp4 files become "car_jaguar_carx_lod_x.gp4
Brawn GP 2009.gp4 files become "car_minardi_carx_lod_x.gp4

You can can make it more acurate if you want and reduce the number of cars from 22 to 20 quite easily in GP4. In your GP4 Directory, find the 'gp4tweak_data' file and open it. There should be several columns of '1'. Column 1 equals car 1, column 2 equals car 2 etc. Therefore, if you want to get rid of cars 20, 21, 22 and 23 - replace the '1' with '0' in the last four columns. Thanks to SchueyFan for that information

carx and lod_x.gp4 would be renamed to the corresponding numbers, eg. carx would be car1 or car2 and lod_x.gp4 would be lod_1.gp4, lod_2.gp4, lod_3.gp4 and lod_4.gp4

This will give you the correct 2009 team order.

For helmets, download the desired helmet set. Then look at the helmet textures files, they should be named "driver1_1.tex" to driver "driver23_1.tex" [they may just be named something like "hamilton1.tex"]. You will notice there will also be a "driver1_2.tex" [or hamilton2.tex], this is because the helmets are made in two .tex files. Next you must make sure the helmets are in the correct order [2009 in this case]. Rename the .tex files so they match the driver, eg. Lewis Hamilton is number one, so his helmet textures will be "driver1_1.tex" and "driver1_2.tex". Jarno Trulli's helmet textures should be "driver9_1.tex" and "driver9_2.tex".

Next, download ZaZ Tools [do any updates, these are requested by the program] and use the EasyWad to replace the files in the cars.wad which is located in the main GP4 folder [again, usually C:/Program Files/Infogrames/Grand Prix 4], then open TeamEditor 3.2b to adjust the T-cam, steering wheel and helmet positionings. These tools can be downloaded from below:

You can also use a tool called gp4tweaker to adjust positions of T-cams, helmets and steering wheels as well as many other features, download gp4tweak_1045_setup.zip and the updates. Download this file below:

makes no sense ..

if massa finished the 08 champ in 2nd place.. and he cant use number 2( Heiiki).. he probably use the number 3... and use Kimi 07 championship as an argument to be #1 driver in 09 is totally wrong considering his ´´ amazing´´ 08 season. his privilege to be first driver in ferrari fished in brazilian gp 2008.

kimi is still Ferrari's #1 driver, they've said as much - just like irvine finished above Schumacher in 1999, didn't change the order of numbers.

Only cos Irvine left Ferrari at the end of 1999 to go to Jaguar
