Hi, After some time, I have managed to get GP4 working on my Windows 8 laptop. The game runs very well (max settings, high FPS, low PO) but is extremely unstable. It freezes every 10 minutes or so, and I have to exit to the desktop. The GpxPatch log is the same each time. Does anybody know what might be causing this? The log is below, but I have cut out all the start up stuff to make iby Go Alesi - Grand Prix 4
Hi, How many people on here have a scalextric set? I was never allowed one when i was a child - only a microscalextric, which was rubbish because the cars were glued down with magnets. Thinking of getting a proper one soon, but I just wanted to ask anyone who has one, are the cars similarly glued down now with the 'magnatraction' system? I do the joint account thing too for household expenses and rent, with us each banking our own wages into our own accounts and then paying into the joint account. It works well. We pay based on a proportion, like your gf suggested. That way, the person earning more gets to keep more in absolute terms, but it means the person earning less still has some money left over. It works fine, and it mby Go Alesi - Off-Topic
I'm not using a wheel for GP2. I have a wheel - I cannot set it up, though. You can disable steering help, I downloaded a utility for it from grandprix2.de . Just as I believe you can disable steering help with a keyboard in GP4 (from memory, doesn't GP4 Tweaker do it). YOu cna't with Gp3 though - for some reason, nobbody made a util for that.by Go Alesi - Other Games
Hi, I felt like giving GP2 a whirl the other day, so I got it working using DOS box. Although I have the original CD still, I just downloaded a version that came pre-packaged with DOS box, as my CD would not start (it gave me an error about the wrong version of windows). Anyway, I want to run a simple .exe. that allows you to turn off steering help for keyboard. When I run the .exe it justby Go Alesi - Other Games
In the pre-patch list of issues being looked at they said that the damage sensitivity would be increased. I did not see it in the final changelog. Can anybody confirm whether the patch has changed anything on that front?by Go Alesi - Other Games
What does the final upgrade relate to:" 8. AI: Driver Behaviours - Addressed some issues in driver behaviour balancing that were causing occasionally unrealistic finishing positions." May that be about fixing the rubber banding? Also, I've missed this somewhere, but what's up with the Fuel Sim setting? I haven't noticed any issues when I've been playing (althoughby Go Alesi - Other Games
I've got the demo on xbox. Graphics are okay - nothing special but not that bad. The demo tracks are good, in terms of layout, style and length. The co-driver is pretty poor - no distances to the next corner (just the corner 'grade' and those annoying sarcastic comments... As for the handling, it wasn't great with the pad. It felts floaty (like it looks in the replays) aby Go Alesi - Other Games
Well even on their 'best case' scenario they've seriously screwed up a lot of calculations. Althugh (and I fear that I'll get shot for this) I can believe that the AI race problems are caused by messed up calculations regarding AI fuel consumption, race pace, easing off etc. Just don't understand how they could have missed it before. I see the logic in the bit aboby Go Alesi - Other Games
Well, yeah, but the point I was making is that it was meant to be a lot more subtle and to resemble real-life practice. As it's turned out, it is effectively rubberbanding becuase they've messed it up.by Go Alesi - Other Games
Post on the Coddies forum from Steven Hood about the rubberbanding: QuoteT4RG4 I haven't been through this entire thread but I did spot a post by someone called mav16? He has the right idea It's fair to say it was a little battle to not use the rubber band system of earlier games. One reason I didn't want to use this system is down to the fact we have far more cars in F1 thaby Go Alesi - Other Games
What is the wet weather driving like? I've heard some people say that it is no different to the dry if you've got the correct tyres on. Other people say it is really difficult (as it should be). They can't both be right...by Go Alesi - Other Games
Good that there are some poisitive comments about general handling. Concerning about the damage sensitivity, which is something that's been picked up on since the GamesCon. Surely Coddies could just release a patch cranking it up a bit...? Although I suspect they've chosen that level for a reason.by Go Alesi - Other Games
At the end of the day, the damage just needs to be sensitive enough to make you cautious when overtaking. Although I would prefer something more subtle, I can take front wings coming off in lumps and wheels just falling off as long as you don't have to career into someone else at high speed to do it. If you can start bumping around like mid-ninties touring cars then that's really off puby Go Alesi - Other Games
Graphically the wet weather looks good, but the handling looks suspect. Looks no different to driving in the dry and he was using all of the kerbs like normal. Hopefully the driving aids were on.by Go Alesi - Other Games
Some good videos here with aids pretty much off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3wJ6PKFXxU Monaco video Looks much better than the Ferrari Monaco video. Handling looks similar to GP4, ie plenty of front end grip, but a challenge to actually nail it spot on and get a good lap time.by Go Alesi - Other Games
What did I say? I don't want to spend £40 on a game that I have doubts about. Would have tried a demo but can't, so I'll need to wait until somebody makes some sensible comments on the physics (I'm sure the rest of it will be very good). It does not matter whether they like the game or not - I just want a clear description of the physics. I may rent, although it seems to cby Go Alesi - Other Games
Still distinctly unconvinced by the look of the physics. Cars look pretty glued and looks like they'll just turn no matter what. Also note the various shots where there's tyre smoke as AI cars slide round the corners... As they're not doing a demo (some stuff about licensing - but they could put a demo together for the games conventions...) I will have to wait until somebody tuby Go Alesi - Other Games

Well it looks good and they are still saying the right things... But I am still extremely sceptical of the car handling. I jsut don't trust coddies, no matter what they say. All of the videos so far have looked less than convincing. And if the cars handle badly then it's going to ruin all of the other top notch stuff they seem to be doing.by Go Alesi - Other Games
Hi, I've tried googling this, and I think I get an answer but it's not clear. I have a TV with an inbuilt Digital tuner. I want to get a DVD recorder (I have no stand alone VHS recorder) which has a single tuner. I have one ariel connection. Can I watch one channel and record another? I think the answer is yes - you plug the ariel in to the TV and the recorder in to the TV too (bby Go Alesi - Off-Topic
Hi, Think my disc drive on my Xbox is about to give in - typically just 1 week after the end of the warranty. I've had some disc read errors, and it's taking ages to recognise a disc sometimes when I put it in the drive (sometimes it's fine). On FIFA 10 the crowd sounds kept cutting out, as if there was a sound file missing. I installed it to the HDD and it runs fine - makes meby Go Alesi - Other Games
There are lots of threads on this - it can be caused by many different things. See the FAQ at the top of the forum for some soultions. When I had the problem, it was a DX problem. Even though I had Dx 8 from the Gp4 CD, it didn't work. I upgraded to Dx 9 (I'd done a HDD format so I didn't have all the most up to date stuff) it worked.by Go Alesi - Grand Prix 4
I used to hate Allen, but Legard is truely awful. The long silences are getting more and more frequent, and when he does talk he's just plain boring and obliterates any sense of excitement. Brundle seems like he's trying to fill in, but it's not really his job, and then Legard goes and cuts over him. They seem to be getting worse, not better, as the season goes on. Could be that you're trying to run the game in a resolution that your TV doesn't support. Remember that, if it's widescreen, it might have a relatively low vertical resolution eg 768 or something (that's what mine has).by Go Alesi - Grand Prix 4
None of those worked. But I solved it. I had Dx 8.1 on my system, and when I tried to install the version from the Gp4 CD, it finished instantly, so I assumed that I had the exact same version. Seemingly something was wrong with the Dx though, becuase I updated to 9.0c from another game disk, and hey presto, it solved it. Hope this helps somebody else with this horrible problem!by Go Alesi - Grand Prix 4
Hi, For the first time in all the years I've had GP4 I've been hit by the problem that whenever I try to start GP4, the screen just goes black and then goes back to the desktop. GP4 ran fine on the PC, and then I did a re-format of the HDD and windows wipe. I have not connected to the internet yet (I'm writing on my laptop), I haven't installed anything other than driveby Go Alesi - Grand Prix 4
You should download GP4 Tweaker - seach the gp4 forum for it (I think there is a link in the FAQ) There are 2006/7 mods, and you can update to 2008 or 2009, but not sure that there is a single mod yet - you probably have to download all the cars seperately. Again, do a search on the GP4 forum. But a very good website to get you started is here: That has some tools (including carset manager aby Go Alesi - Grand Prix 4
Thanks for that. Hopefully the Windows live thing will take off a bit more, although not sure why people would want to pay for it when they can play other people on PC for free.by Go Alesi - Other Games
