Geforces 4 MX are only powered Geforces 2 MX. They don't support advanced DirectX 8.x features (pixel and vertex shaders), which you find in modern games today (I think also enviromental bump mapping in GP4 uses them).
After all, my old Geforce 2 GTS runs fine with GP4, almost everything on at 1024x786 @ 25 fps.
Go for the Ti4200 or, better, for the Radeon 9500 (which is a DirectX 9.0 compl

Grand Prix 4 I'm using a Sound Blaster Audigy (1) and a PCI 128 under Win XP and Win 98se with default drivers, on a VIA KT133A system, no problem at all
3D multi-speaker accelerated sound, good PO.
It may be a chipset-related problem, some Creative cards can cause much trouble in combination with a VIA chipset (not in my case). Be sure to install the latest VIA 4in1 drivers package.

Grand Prix 4 At the moment, the fastest P4 (3.06 GHz with Hyper-Treading enabled) can beat the fastest Athlon XP (2800+). AMD has now some problems with the production of these chips in volumes, so the fastest Athlons you can find around are probably the 2400+/2600+.
The floating point engine (FPU) of the Athlon is way superior to the one of the P4, which is optimized to reach very high clockspeeds (during an

Off-Topic I never found anything like this, only a lot of even good racing games free ("like in beer" but nothing open source. You can only try something like Tuxracer of Tuxkart... Maybe one day?
Anyway, flightgear is a good project. It runs even on those Windoze boxes...

Grand Prix 4 Yes I also have the GP3 version... but it's somewhat different from the original GP2 track... maybe only the 1998 cars are different from the 1994 ones, the original track was more challenging.
I guess I'll have to learn how to use the GP4 track editor when it wiil come out... I have some good ideas...

Grand Prix 4 I'm now running a SB Audigy (finally I got the drivers cd...) and I haven't experienced any problems with win98se, nor with my former SB Live! 5.1. They sound great in GP4. I'm running a VIA 133A mobo (with the infamous 686b southbridge), no problem at all.
Also, I'm using a SB PCI 128 on the same system.

Grand Prix 4 Hell, I've just bought a SB Audigy (in replacement of my old Live! card) and it didn't include any driver cd. The reseller told me "You'll find the drivers on the Creative website", but there are only updates which require the INSTALLATION CD!
Anyone know where I can find a copy of the drivers for Win98 (and XP, possibly..)
Just one more thing... it works OK under Linux w
