I thought it produced good racing - when they were actually racing. Way too many cautions, even more than the old pack style of racing. Part of that I blame on guys being way to aggressive, especially early on in the race when it was totally unneccessary. But the fact is, no matter what you do to match the bumpers up or whatever, you can't have cars bumping each other - especially in theby loren - Other Motorsports
I really wish they'd stop throwing cautions every time somebody has a solo spin into the grass, or worse, the paved area on the backstretch.by loren - Other Motorsports
Watching the 150s right now. Strange racing this year. If you aren't paired up with another car, you drop like a rock. And three or more cars no longer works, which at least means there won't be one giant pack running around for the whole race.by loren - Other Motorsports
Not the first time: Porsche stopped Jordan from calling their first car 911. March were allowed to keep CG911, which followed on from previous CG901, CG891 etc. If I was Ferrari, I wouldn't have changed the name. They're not selling F150's and they're not bringing them to the US, so it's hard to imagine that a US court could actually have compelled them to change theby loren - F1

Winglets on the brakeducts are legal now (RBR)? Though I suppose if moveable wings are allowed.... The teams are pushing the boundaries very far, which I like, its their job after all, but I think the FIA is having a hard time keeping up. I hope they are really thinking things through when they undo rules like this. They sure haven't done in the past, like when they opened up the area forby loren - F1
I'm sure there's some sentimental value about having a French GP, but where? F1 has left a lot better circuits than Magny-Cours lately. Magny is boring and in the middle of nowhere. Ricard isn't very exciting either and I don't think they really want to host the GP. They're not shutting the roads down at Le Mans twice a year. The other circuits in France are all way tby loren - F1

Now that I read it again I think you are right.... the little vertical extension is the problem. Two sections max, both of which must be closed. The little vertical extension would constitute a third, open section in the rear wing area. Though it wouldn't surprise me at all if someone had found a loophole somewhere....by loren - F1
The way it's drawn in the side view - with the horizontal part of the fin slightly ahead of the rear wing - looks like it is legal, at least the way I read the regs. But then again I have a hard time understanding them now. And I'm an engineer FFS. The FIA have made a huge mess of the the tech regs in past 15 years or so but especially in the last few. They always write in a very obby loren - F1

sorry mate, I guess I never really check PMs on this site. I haven't touched the 1994 cars in quite some time....really hard to get them up to the standard I want.by loren - F1
hmmm if I recall CFRP is reasonably linear stuff, though you can make it turn in some funny directions with asymetrical layups. There are some materials out there (weird metals and such) though that are highly nonlinear & still elastic. I wouldn't be suprised if teams were to use something like this in the mounts, if you watch some of the cars from about 2000 you can see that the entireby loren - F1
Brands seems to have more than its fair share of nasty accidents. Obviously its been upgraded since all the horrorible crashes in the 80's, but still the barriers are pretty close to the track.by loren - Other Motorsports
The earlier GP2 cars had ground effects to improve overtaking, but now it looks like they've gone away from that in favor of this horrible F1 look. Everyone making rules in racing has totally lost it over the past decade or so.by loren - Other Motorsports

US will have to get past Ghana first, they might trouble the US defense with pace. That top quarter will be interesting, and it means we're guaranteed a suprise semifinalist. I like the way the knockout rounds are shaping up, most of very the negative teams have been eliminated. I don't think we need adjustable rear wings. Adjustable front wings has been a flop, now they want adjustable rear ones as well. I wish they'd open up the engine configuration, right now the cars are TOO equal.by loren - F1
I'm going to give myself a heart attack by supporting this USA side. Tough for Slovenia, they were good as well. But I think its the right result.by loren - Other Sports
Wow referees wtf?!?!?! Horrible in both games today! The Spanish guy seems to think tackling is illegal now, and the other guy has denied a perfectly good 3rd goal from the US. Okay I'm biased here, but the only foul I see on that play is the Slovenian guy making a tackle on M. Bradley that is only legal in the kind of football we play here in America. Yes, I think England will get better over the next few games. Playing the US in the first game was probably a good thing, as England have not had to play many competitive games lately. Friendlies are okay but just not the same. Still I'm a bit disappointed, as an American I always support England when we go out, but I doubt this England team will go any farther than previous ones.by loren - Other Sports
Wow, probably the only newspaper in the world not showing poor Green on the front cover. The English seem to think that game was the end of the world. Come on. Its a draw against the second best team in the group, and the disparity isn't as big as a lot of people think. All it shows is that England aren't good enough to win the Cup, and a reasonable person probably could have figureby loren - Other Sports

Was F1 that horrible before they started continually screwing with the sporting regs? They hardly changed at all in the 90's, but since 2002 we've had all kinds of gimmicks: 2 new quali systems, 2 new point systems, all sorts of changes about what tires you can use and when you can change them, when can you fuel the car, what parts of the car can you change between sessions, etc etc etcby loren - F1
I love the fact that Ferrari claims that it is just part of the livery.... is that why its also on Ducati's bikes? I wonder if any team other than Ferrari would be allowed to flaunt the rules like this.by loren - F1
