last years Honda car on its first test runs, notice anything ? renault ran an interim livery a few years ago. There are plenty of opportunities over the next 12 months for sponsors to get good exposure(17 opportunities to be exact) right now, putting stickers on the thing come a distant second to making sure it goes and stops.by marwood82 - F1

i think where part of this decision will have come from is the testing ban. they'll have had next to no running at all when they turn up in melbourne. this means that friday running is going to be incredibly important, not just for getting a weekend setup, but also if they're not going to sit at the back all year, they'll have to use it for getting in a lot of the car developmenby marwood82 - F1

fits with what we were hearing at the end of last week. i heard a rumour that emirates airlines are going to be the main sponsors. also that there could be an announcement on thursday to clear alot of this up. emirates deny it.by marwood82 - F1

i'll be surprised if they go full on down the customer car route as the 'you have to build your own car' rule is one of the things that makes F1 special. I'd imagine it'd be standardised components of some form or another, Max has been arguing for a while that there are plenty of components on modern F1 cars that add a great deal to the cost and very little to the shby marwood82 - F1
on the 1 hand i'll be suprised if they don't go for Senna, purely because of the money he may attract. but on the other, with all the upheaval going on behind the scenes, maybe it makes sense to have a bit of stability on the driving front. I guess its all just rumour at the moment though.by marwood82 - F1

i wonder if they'll have commentary on the practice sessions. I know itv didn't, but the bbc covered them on fiveLive sports extra last year, so maybe we'll get the radio commentary?by marwood82 - F1
for those hoping for at least 30 seconds of coverage where the words 'Lewis' and 'Hamilton' aren't uttered this seems good news from the looks of it brundle will still be doing his grid walks! ...and the final piece falls into place!!! all in all. not bad.by marwood82 - F1

with HD, i got the impression it was just the general cost of doing it. They'd have to replace all the cameras and upgrade the whole on circuit broadcast infrastructure to handle the increased bandwidth. the cost of running a HD service would be higher too. Bernie said unless there was sufficent demand for it,(which he felt there wasn't), then it wasn't going to be worth it.by marwood82 - F1

the problem is that in a normal road car you're only braking from 30-40mph (often even less if you're trying to drive through bristol in the morning!). KERS is coverting and then storing kinetic energy which changes by a factor of v^2 ok, road cars have more mass than F1 cars but its the velocity that makes the key difference. also most car journeys are actually rather short(somby marwood82 - F1
to be honest its the symbolism more than anything else. Cars world wide are a very visible contributer to greenhouse gasses. (yes there are much bigger culprits) Formula 1 is seen as the pinicle of this problem. cars being flown around the world to drive around getting 4 mpg. I think in principal, trying to go down the green route makes sense, with different kind of green technolgy emploby marwood82 - F1

i went there about a year and a half ago. it was mid-week so just had a look round. (btw if you go, i wouldn't bother with the museum its pretty rubbish) we went up to the point where the new track turns away from the forest. they've moved the jim clark memorial to there now. It is really weird scene as its only slightly overgrown so you can still see the line the track took throby marwood82 - F1
from a purely spectator point of view i wouldn't say there was much wrong with silverstones facilities. yes a lot of the grandstands are either temporary or uncovered but then thats the case at a lot of circuits. The cheapest general entry ticket will still get you a good spot. and you can walk the entire way round the circuit. the car parks are 1000% better than they used to be. Accesby marwood82 - F1
Lol @ R29 a car only its mother could love. Though renault seem to have been hit by the credit crunch harder than we thought. rather than go to the expense of painting it, they've just asked someone to come and throw up all over it instead. didn't realise they'd switched fuel suppliers though.by marwood82 - F1
