Yep, i saw it just after my latest post : /by Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
Yep, some sounds are in bnk format, as i never get used to read wav files, i can't tell you how to read them... Post Edited (02-24-03 20:51)by Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
You don't need any editor as engine sounds are generated by the game from text files (in the sound folder). So you just have to edit values in those files with a simple word editor.by Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
Hi all, Here is the first step to what many are waiting for. It is the first 3D fully textured realtime viewer for any .gp4 file of the game ! It has no editing function for now, but you can already see any 3D object, car or even track from any side. I have to warn you that the hundreds of textured used by tracks needs a powerfull computer to be handle smoothly, so don't await to mby Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
Impressive ! Why is there still a black area inside the rim, texturing isn't completely finished ?by Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
Nice work ! still have some details to enhance but it's close to the end And thanks having come on this forum to show it us ! Post Edited (02-22-03 16:04)by Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
fraps is a framerate counter. That means it tells you how many times is refreshing your screen per second when you are playing a game or using a tool using OPenGL api or Direct3D. As my tools are using OpenGL, you can use fraps with them to know how fast is your computerby Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
Well, My TeamEditor, might work with both (original and patched version), anyhow, could you tell us what's your graphical card and if you uninstalled totally GP4 then reinstalled it before patching it ? It would be a good starting point. Post Edited (02-22-03 13:44)by Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
" Sorry silly question but what is it." Hmm...just a moon of cheese Well, no, of course it's an editor for GP4 and to answer to your question, Go_Alesi (do you know he leaved F1 racing ? hehe), yes for now it's still a fantastic viewer but it will surely become more than that in the next days/weeks. About the graphical card, i had the similar question yesterday, in fby Lo2k - Grand Prix 4

Hi all, just saw many post about difficulties about changing carshapes, copiying some, renamming others, hex editing textures and so on... As i thought since some time about a tool, i released it this evening (yep, between 2 track editing posts ). So here what it does: - patching every carshapes from a team to use new tex names in one clic(yourwonderfullteamname1.tex is now possible withoutby Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
hehe, nice advice, Orpheus. I will do so, thanks About see throught, i'm not sure it has nothing to do with my modification, i rather think it's the actual GP4 ingame render. Post Edited (02-20-03 14:05)by Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
Just a proof that it could work. For now I HAVN'T CHANGE WITH MY EDITOR, i just used it to know what values to change in monza.gp4. As you can see, it works PS: Oh, and the yellow "2" in 3D viewer is fraps result but it doesn't work in realtime, only when i move the mouse, so it doesn't show the real value. The real value is 43, when i keep moving the mouse foby Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
to sasjag: Nice shot I never saw anything so weird with GP4, whatever tries i already made but i can't really help you with it, sorry... to Xero: Yep export will not be a problem as i said sooner, the only problem is to provide an easy way of editing the huge amount of datas, but else, it's near easy. to Morbid: to Glyn: Yes and no. Yes because this way tracks use more polygons (by Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
That's an interesting question and i'm sure that some GP3 moders are knowing the answer, no ?by Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
Yep, i agree with you but zmodeler doesn't import tyres correctly and that's why i decided to build a 3d viewer/editor at first. But as my editor is most powerfull than i thougth, it will need more time before i release a real tyre editor, sorry. Good luck anyhow PS: i'm thinking about doing rounder tyre since the first GP4's screenshot (do you remember the arrows aby Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
A new work shot: Here is a 3dsmax render, using a vrml file of the track, given directly by my tool. Still no texturing for now and additional fake lightnings but this time you can see all three layers.by Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
hmm, i don't know...i thought about exporting them to wrl but it would also limitate the editing options...so i don't know right now. Post Edited (02-17-03 20:56)by Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
You're right Ellis, these are steps that i will have to follow to build a final editor. For now, i can read any gp4 file, store all its datas and display them in a realtime 3D viewer. Texture mapping is near OK but it's also bringing to front the matter of batch converting tex to tga files, as i still can't read tex files directly. Exporting datas is also not a problem. The real wby Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
Here is anew screenshot of my 3D viewer. Works a little better now Many interesting things come from my tests: 1- Tracks (at least Monza) are compound of 3 layers. On the picture below, you can only see elements of the first one, wich contain fences, cranes, walls and stands. Second layer got roof, trees, far buildings and near backgrounds. and third layer is coumpound of terrain himseby Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
Yep, many couples of hours but here i am. But i had a bad surprise afterall, just look below : / It seems i have a bug somewhere with some faces... It's strange as the same code works perfectly for carshapes or tyres shapes. Anyhow, even if the scale is a bit big for cameditor usual value, mouse viewing is perfectly smooth Post Edited (02-16-03 16:20)by Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
hehe, really soon, in fact if i havn't that f%$*ing virus on my comp, you might already see some track viewer (not soon editor) screenshot. So stay tune for some news (till i will have reformat my hard-drive and reinstall everything, that means in a couple of hours at least)by Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
Un-be-lie-vable ! But there are so many unbelievable things in GP4... When i have a little of time, to unstress me i list all the uneeded files in GP4: I might be at about 20 or 30. That means that more than 20 files are useless at all ! Have you ever look at the anim folder (in menudata folder) and see that 2 videos have the exact same size ? well, one of both is useless as it's the exacby Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
That's maybe coz you used an editor to modify your last texture that didn't save the alpha channel correctly and put the whole alpha channel to black (meaning no reflections). If so, just check it in paintshop pro or a similar editor handling the alpha channel and change all the alpha layer to white.by Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
But source code is not needed for a track/car editor, we already have all the materials, we only need the will (sure we have) and plenty of time (not so sure) to do it. But anyhow, i'm not sure it would be a 3D track editor, but maybe only a track convertor to export track into another 3D format and then import it back to the game after having edit the track in a real 3D editor. But forby Lo2k - Grand Prix 4

Maybe the game isn't properly regged in windows registry. To solve that , you can use my CamEditor and choose the "GP4 Manual Path" button and select the path where is installed GP4. It's a good idea too to test the new 4.1 version i just releasedby Lo2k - Grand Prix 4
