rFactor is ALMOST as good as sex with Scarlett Johansson :P

Woohoo.

I played the demo but with a keyboard. the car was spinning around every 5 seconds :/ very sensitive. Or is it a case of me not configuring the game properly??

Depends, what car were you using? Racing simulations are difficult on a keyboard!

I play Gp4 religiously on keyboard without much problem, I can drive Montreal and Sakhir beautifully with it :-D

I was racing as a BMW in the demo I think ??

Well to be fair, GP4 doesn't really have "physics". It has cars on rails. You can drive it with your eyes closed and it'll get round the track ;-)

In rfactor you can use the F keys on your keyboard to turn on driver aids to help with the controls.

i spent my first half of rfactor using keys, and there are few mods that you can really enjoy with keys.

because keys are digital ;-)

i then bought a gamepad, cheap, and use that atm because my wheel wont fit anywhere while iam at home lol.

but yeah good luck getting one of those bmw's round a lap with keys without spinning, even with a wheel its tough. i usually set my cars up to have alot of understeer.

Set up on 35-40 wings and turn on traction control and stability control

First thing you should probably do is soften up that rear end, then work on the wings. But yeah, TC is a no brainer with keys lol!

but a car in real life, no way in hell does it spin as much as in rfactor. i play rfactor with force feedback wheel, but still need to turn on stability control, otherwise it is just too fake how slippery any car in any mod is. i can see why this is a problem on keyboard, in gp4 its on rails on keyboard, but thats how it should be with keyboard, you press one button to go, one to break, at least you still have to be precise with breaking, and i find on keyboard you get much slower lap times then with a wheel.

Sorry but what's clear from your post is that you just can't drive.

TIP:

rFactor has a feature called: Garage, with that, you can change a LOT of things to get rid of oversteer

Like has been said, espec with keyboard imo the very first thing you should do is soften up that rear end!

as everyone knows i dont like rfactor, but its very drivable. infact id say its easier to learn than NR2003

I'd say NR2003 is easier to learn, but harder to drive overall. Can feel the limit a bit easier in NR2003. But theres no question both are hardcore simulations.

for me NR2003 is harder all way round, i find it very hard to keep the car at the limit for long periods of time. plus in rf i dont play it much, so when i get back into it i find in not that much off the pace.

rF sucks so much arse in oval racing its not funny.

rFactor cant do stock cars at all. It's just terrible at it. Open Wheel on ovals is much better though.

The being able to go through the wheels is still abit gay, will this problem be fixed?

rFactor v1.255 - This update is for compatibility issues with the new retail DVD. It will require re-activation, but is required to race online.

I can easily race champ cars at Long Beach (IDT version) with the keyboard. Its so easy that I can race by the TV cam angles.
