Want to explain how a template series such as nascar can make a car look decent like its road going version without actually adding lights?

And if you looked at any NASCAR testing photos, without lights they are boring.

Well that fits well with nascar itself then. And if they are boring then that's the designers fault, but then we are talking about american cars here.

Ok since you dont *quite* seem to understand common sense, i'll say it for a second time. ITS A TEMPLATE SERIES

Yes, but they don't have to be EXACTLY the same. They could have like indents where the lights would normally go or something and then no actual glass or anything.

All I said is that the stick on lights look stupid, no need to get worked up about it.

Tried some more tracks

Donington Park

Layout - Simbin conversion from the GTR2002 mod i think. So its decent accurate, not great but driveable
Works? - Pit lane lights and start lights dont work, as per usuall.
Looks - Has some mip mapping problems but nothing to bad

Knockhill

Layout - Appears to be a TRD conversion so its actually pretty accurate. Its missing a couple of grand stands and theres a kerb or 2 out of place but nothing serious.
Works? - Appears to
Looks - Very poor mip mapping and some problems with the textures where they join (grass and kerbs mainly). Also the skyline is broken. Problably one of the most accurate tracks yet

Silverstone

Layout - ISI conversion so far from perfect, but ok
Works - appears to
Looks - Very small mip map problem, but nothing too bad. Excellt textures for most of it, except the grid which needs new ones. Overall, pretty good really. Oh, and a odd shadow at Stowe, like theres an invisible bridge or something. Very strange, but doesnt effect the driving at all.

you need photoshop or simular with a .DDS extention

You can view .DDS files in with the DirectX 9.0 SDK Update, free from Microsofts site, though a 200mb download. I've no DDS files to play with at work, so I can't check, but I expect you can extract the files too... doubt you can create or update DDS files though.

Woohoo, the wonders of remote connection.

You can edit .DDS files. You can even create new ones and import .TGAs, .BMPs, even another .DDS ontop of your new one. The program you want is DXTex, which comes as part of that SDK.

Quite neat, and a saving of approx £8,000,000,000.

or download the appropriate prog from nvidia and have dds support in your image editing software of choice (well, ps or psp really but it's still good :p)

I forget which one it is exactly but there's a few useful files on there in addition to plugins.

ok, perhaps i was wrong, i'll check later. But i could swear when i drove down the pit lane the lights werent on, and it didnt give me a error for passing a red light, which it should have done because the session hadnt officially started yet
