ive just installed it on my newish system for the first time (9600xt 256mb, 512 ram and athlon 64 3400) and its really stuttery at points, it runs ok, but at points like pulling out the pit garage (even on low detail) it is less than 1fps has anyone got any ideas?

Another reivew, PC Format (UK) gave it a score in the 80s (can't remember exactly). Seems a much better review to me and they spotted things PC Gamer didn't that make the game no so great. I've always thought this with sims - PC Format give a better opinion as they obviously understand 'physics'.

sorry for late response andrew. I believe GTR has some problems with ATI recent drivers . I have huge problems too like the game freezing for 5 to 10 seconds after exiting the pits and normally after some laps it works ok
I suggest you to try older drivers , like 4.7. I didnt try it myself but there are some guys having those problems too

Glyn, could you go on more in-depth on the physics review, and such minimal details? :-o

:)

I have 9600XT and a very old drivers (3.10, I belive) and the game freezes when exiting the pits, but I have no problems on track

Basically GTR uses the ISI engine as found in F1C. It's updated slightly, but the tyre model is the same (I think) which means its a bit lifeless - they isn't any feel. Ellis might be able to shed more light on it than me as he knows a lot lot more about the engine.

anze on your case update do more recent drivers ... perhaps the problem is the game itself which isnt so compatible with ati

I duno that much about the engine, but i have driven it enough to feel its flaws!

There is no communication between thw graphics, the physics and the FFB. If you lock a wheel you dont feel it. You dont even see the car change on its suspension like you should. You just see a little smoke and you hear it.

this i find VERY common on ISI based games (except rFactor). No communication between the parts of the game. It feels very much like your sitting in a car, whilst other engines feel like your driving a car
