On Friday, as part of an end-of-year day out, we took the year 5s and 6s to the Farne Islands. Spotting a bit of a chance of taking shots of something that doesn't need slapping, I brought along the S5500.
Click for the bigness, 1280x960 of it.
"Mummy, I'm cold"
Longstone Farne Lighthouse, where, in one of the North's most famous tales, Grace Darling took the victims of the ship-wrecked SS Forfarshire in 1838, as documented
here.
"Who's this ugly f*cker?!!"
Seals, for the uninformed.
"Momma?"
Obviously hard to get decent lighting with such a shot, but I'm happy with it non-the-less
"Touch my kid, and you're gonna get shat on." Kittiwake and now rather large, but still dependant chick.
Personal fave of mine, and my current desktop. Puffins for those that don't know.
All-you-can-eat-day is everyday here.
Possibly the ugliest non-human Northumbrian in existance. This is a Guillemot.
'Missing: One head'. Herring Gull.
Are there any Sand Eels actually left?
"Look mate, STFU, even with this hair, I'm still better looking than you." Ickle Herring Gulls.
I think I still need to work on my timing...
Maxxing the full 10x zoom, and cropped. Couple of Puffins flying along the cliff-top.
Another Herring Gull.
No matter how hard they try, Puffins just can't look intimidating.
"Mmmm, breakfast".
