I will be compiling the mods for season 8 so all helmet and car download links need to be sent to me :)

Hmm, will be interesting to see what happens in the race!

A very good qualifying for me. One mistake I spotted in the coverage is that it said I don't have a season 8 seat when I infact do have one.

The race has been run and won! I will post the pics tomorrow night :)

GPGSL Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Race Day

Well it looks like this circuit suits the MPR, Ricardo won the support race and now Sevastian and Hunsley have tied up the front row for the feature race.

Pedersen brings up the rear in the SCR.

Five lights!

And they are off!

Sevastian gets off to an early lead, but Hunsley looks to steal that lead away.

The field is already stringing out.

Kittleson out breaks himself and bumps his fellow Snake driver Kederer.

Kederer then smashes his front wing into the back of Maverick who loses his rear wing.

Kittleson carries on undamaged.

Sheppard having got caught in the melee after the Snake/Maverick incident, has dropped behind Pedersen.

Standings after lap 1.

Maverick and Kederer pit for new wings

Greidanus chases down Greenhalgh but both down in 19th and 20th.

Sevastian takes fastest lap at the end of lap two.

Legge in 10th makes a slight mistake in the chicane.

Johnson takes 11th place from Jalving.

1st Sevastian, 2nd Hunsley, 3rd Cartwright, 4th Horváth, 5th Warrington.

Johnson locks up.

Karjalainen follows suit.

Greidanus has lost some ground on Greenhalgh.

Kittleson is putting some pressure on Jalving.

Davies flat spots his bridgestones.

Sevastian about complete his 6th lap.

15 laps to go.

Greidanus has suddenly caught Greenhalgh and tires to pass.

He has another go.

Just ahead Spencer has a moment.

Sheppard attacks Vilela.

Kittleson takes Jalving.

Cartwright, 3rd place.

Its closed up for 2nd place.

Elleker holds off an attcking Karjalainen in the AMR.

The pitstops begin, Kittleson is first in.

Horváth makes a slight mistake in 4th.

The leader pits and Cartwright takes the lead, but where's Hunsley?

This must be a mistake by MPR, Hunsley is in the pits too!

Hunsley is in despair has he queues behind Sevastian.

The mechanics casually wander off.

Then casually walk back again.

Finally Jack gets his car serviced.

Greidanus passes a struggling Spencer.

Hunsley down in 19th just ahead of Kederer.

Spencer must have a setup problem.

And again.

Stay tuned for part two.

GPGSL Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Race Day - Part Two

Welcome back to the Yas Marina circuit for part two of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

You re-join us with 10 laps to go and part way through the pitstops.

Horváth leads Warrington.

Jalving locks up again.

Cartwright is being held up by the struggling Spencer who has yet to stop.

Warrington pits as does Horváth.

Sevastian re-takes the lead.

Cartwright runs wide.

He's passed by Edwards and Elleker.

Horváth must have stayed out too long as he is now down in 7th being pressed by Copeman.

It's now Warrington's turn to get his braking wrong.

2nd to 9th all on the finish straight, but Sevastian is long gone.

Jalving again makes a mistake.

Warrington attacks Karjalainen but fails to get past.

Cartwright closes up to Elleker.

Cartwright fights his way past Elleker for 3rd.

Karjalainen is next up to take Elleker.

Greidanus attacks Vilela and takes him.

Karjalainen now ahead of Elleker.

Elleker is really struggling on this set of tyres.

5 laps to go.

Although the cameras miss Warrington's overtake on Elleker, they manage capture Copeman's.

Edwards now pulling away from Cartwright.

Both Aston's together behind Cartwright.

Elleker now slipping back to Johnson.

Cartwright attacks Edwards for 2nd.

Edwards still 2nd.

But Horváth is right behind him ready to pounce.

Last lap.

Andrei Sevastian wins the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Horváth 2nd.

Edwards 3rd.

Karjalainen 4th.

Warrington 5th.

Congratulations to Andrei Sevastian and MPR.

Just prefer those wheels mate :) They are Enjoz's 2d wheels but I edited Lee's 2010 textures with Maikel's GPGSL tyres.

How on earth did I end up down there?

Très disappointing...

By the wat, brilliant job Stu in running this. Now we've probably got launches to look forward too ;)

Great concept this fantasy race. Goes to show that the car definetely makes a difference, and also shows that earning some good perf ratings in the test series, as Andre has, is a big plus!
Well done to Stu for running this race weekend. Hope we make this an annual, end of season event!

Well I feel a bit like Eddie Jordan right now.

Both my boys on the podium - a sign of things to come I wonder!? And then a TNR almost missing out to make 3 in the top 4.

Very excited about this duo, really nice coverage too, thankyou for your hard work :)

Real shame for Cartright, would love to give him another shot. You have my number mate! ;)

Jenson drives it like he owns it; Lewis drives it like he stole it

That was pretty disappointing, up a few positions after the stops and then I start dropping down like that :(

Well, I'm sorry Stefan. I would have hoped for a bit more successful return to ART. However, if you lose your rear wing in round 1 without any personal fault, the race is over right from the start. So I just used the chance to daydream of my times in the ART while I made my lonely rounds back at the grid :-)

Great coverage Stu :), something that I can't say about my race. Being pushed into John in lap1 and losing my frontwing, the race was already over.

During last season there were some discussions about my performance levels for next season. I said I would open a discussion on it, so here it is.

I am happy to take some form or performance cut, whether it be some sort of championship handicap, 'old age' simulation or something like that. I mean of course I don't want the series to become boring for anyone, and while it is great to be performing well, I don't know if it would be good for the series for me to go out and have the potential to dominate the next season. What are people's thoughts on this?

I agree that I think it is something that needs looking at and I also think you have been most gracious in offering to take a perf cut. I wonder if we don't have to be that drastic though. I wonder, would a small "ballast perf" work. I know in Touring cars that the first three drivers are given a wieght balance to carry around for the next race. Could we implement this somehow (and only god knows how) in the perfs? Say the first three took a small reduction for the next race.

I still think though that the main aim should be to implement this "long term" and that they best way to do this is for new teams, whether they have bought out a current team, or are completely new, to start with the base perf. Then, over time there will be a gradual rotation of the top teams.

that'a actually quite a good idea. just add a small perf penalty to the top 3 or whatever drivers for the next race to mix things up a bit.
