GPGSL S7 [SEASON COMPLETED!!!] Rule Changes Announced For S8.

Hunsley To Join MPR For Season 8

Shortly after the conclusion of the San Marino GP a press conference was called outside the motorhome of MAC Racing driver Jack Hunsley.

Reporter: So Jack the word on the grapevine is that you will be joining the MPR test squad for season 8. Tell us, how did this deal come about?

Jack: Well all the credit has to go to my agent. As soon as Dan announced that he was retiring from driving at the end of the season he was straight on the phone to MPR to offer my services and luckily, no doubt aided by a strong performance this weekend, we managed to get a deal done. I personally am ecstatic, MPR has such an incredible history in the GPGSL and as much as I love the guys here at MAC, to be given the chance to be part of the future of MPR is very exciting.

Reporter: You mention you admiration of MAC Racing, how difficult a decision was it to leave the team?

Jack: In all honesty it breaks my heart to be leaving MAC. I have been part of the team since its Blue Flame days back in season 5 so I know all the guys really well. I can never thank Nathan enough for giving me a chance to mix it with the big boys in the main series, and I also have to thank Chris who has been my team mate for the past two seasons as I have learnt so much from him due to his vast experience in the series. I still cannot believe that he still hasn't won a race, it's a travesty really. Unfortunately however things haven't been easy for us and recently I just felt it was time to move on, although I will always take pride in bringing in the teams best ever result in Canada this season and fingers crossed it won't be long until a MAC driver finally does make it onto the podium. All in all, it feels very much like the end of an era in a way for me.

Reporter: Was MPR the only team you had eyes on joining, or did you have any other options?

Jack: My agent and I had looked at some other options, but once we had a firm offer on the table from such a high profile team we couldn't resist taking it up.

Reporter: And so next season you're going back to being a full time test driver. What will you be hoping to achieve?

Jack: It's been a while hasn't it... Well first and foremost I want to be challenging for the Test Driver Championship, Dan has already shown that the team is capable of competing this season so I see no reason why we can't do the same in season eight, whilst also aiding the race drivers in developing the car and then we'll see where we will go from there.

Reporter: Well I think that will do it for today, thanks for your time Jack.

Jack: No worries.

Decent points - and that secures 4th place in Group B...only downside is that we've now got to face Aston Martin in the Quarter Finals. :(

Not quite able to put more pressure on Christel VXR what with that 6th place for Jack Elleker, but at least we're pulling away from ART in the constructor's race. :)

EDIT: That's quite a move, Jack! Well done and good luck at MPR next year :)

Qualifying was the biggest hinderance to our race-pace, just hoping I can help find a setup that will get Carlos and Rod right in the mix. It's a shame, we've had some awful luck over the past few races too...

Another fantastic win by Ed, he was in another league! Great drive mate :)

I can't believe John's luck sometimes! Next time mate, keep banging in the poles and the wins will come :)

I wish he was in another league so I will have more chances. :(

My Grand Prix 4 Files

I'm a total dick. How many people can say that?
Good result for my teammate, average race for me...

Bring on Interlagos...
It's happened again, I'm in a good position, then something happens hot

Not much overtaking in this race :/
Very happy to come home 4th at probably my all time favourite track......

GPGSL Team Owner Debut - Melbourne, Season 8 - present
GPGSL Test Debut - Hungary, Season 4. GPGSL Race Debut - Adelaide, Season 5.
Points i think?? but still happy we got something as a team:)
I think we lost today both championships. It's a shame because we had a decent car and 2 very talented drivers. No problem, we'll be back next year. Hopefully I get to drive a car in a race sooner, rather than later.

MAC Racing Announcement

With the sad news that Jack is to be leaving
at the end of the season we are delighted at
MAC to be able to announce his replacement.

Adam Davies will become the second race
driver in season 8 partnering our senior man
Chris Hinz.

Jack will be staying with the team until the
end of the current season with the chance
that Adam will get a drive in his car towards
the end of the season to get himself equated
with racing again before the beginning of the
new season.

We hope to get some good results out of Jack
before he leaves, and while it does feel like he
is jumping ship when times are tough, we wish
him the best in his endeavours in taking a
backwards step in his career to become a tester.

We are still looking for a test driver for next season.
If anyone is interested pleased contact me.

Season 8 Line Up
Driver 1 - Chris Hinz
Driver 2 - Adam Davies

Tester 1 - TBA
Tester 2 - Nathan McGregor

One would hope that he has been promised an MPR race seat for Season 9 otherwise I agree, it is somewhat of a backward step.

However as a side note, I am still trying to get my brother interested in this series, so hopefully he will sign up soon.

Actually it's an inspired move and one that would show his determination to reach the top level of the series. driver's with experience are able to dominate in testing roles and as such pick up huge amounts of performance points. Good on him!!

EDIT: That said he isn't gonna be driving for Team Shadow so would stand no chance of winning the tester's championship :-P

I must be the unluckiest driver in the GPGSL

I have to say I disagree with you here. Should the idea of a league such as this not be to get into a top racing seat and stay there. I worry about the message that it sends that Jack has seen fit to leave a race seat to better himself. Perhaps we need to look at the perf scheme if there is an advantage to not racing and getting a better perf.
