GPGSL S7 R11 - The San Marino Grand Prix - Imola Race Coverage Part 3

Welcome back to Imola and the San Marino Grand Prix.

Thomas is now 6th and being hunted down by both the Christel VXR's...

Jalving is now 10th and is now chasing Hunsley...

Thomas is having to do some defending...

OH WHATS THIS?! MAVERICK IS OFF!

The Replay shows that he overcooked his entry to the first of the two corners...

He manages to make his way back onto track, but right into the middle of the traffic...

AND HE GETS HIT BY HINZ!!

Maverick then excutes a perfect donut to continue on his way...

Thomas is still holding off both of the VXR's

And Johnson is still defending really well...

Horvarth has now joined the back of the Johnson train...

Here are the standings at the beginning of lap 23...

Hunsley has some staunch defending of his own to do...

Maverick is now running 11th after his earlier off...

Kittleson chases his team mate...

If ever a shot epitomized the GPGSL its this, "Whats that in the distance? Oh that's right, Ed Greenhalgh in his AMR".

TSS running well in 2nd and 3rd...

Sheppard now pretty much by himself in 4th...

Elleker has done well to climb to 7th...

Thomas looks to have given the VXR's the slip...for now...

MAC, MPR, MAC, MPR...

Here is Johnson, doing some defending...thats a first ;)

Hinz is running 10th which means that both MAC cars are running in the points.

He also begins the second round of pitstops...and exits 17th...

Sheppard pits from a lonely 4th...

Johnson is promoted to 11th...

Maverick is now up to 8th...

Promoting both Christels to 5th and 6th...

But not for long! PEDERSEN is off again!!!

He's beached! But manages to get going...

Both Maverick and Horvarth enter the pits...

Followed by Edwards...

Hunsley goes from 15th to 11th...

Hinz moves into the last points position behind his team mate...

Both Maverick and Johnson exit the pits...

Horvarth out in 16th

Greenhalgh in for his second stop...

And is out in the lead...

Greidanus is closer...but has yet to stop...

Pedersen stops from 6th...

Thomas pits...

Elleker is yet to stop for the second time and is up to 4th...

Johnson has driven his mirrors off this race...

Greidanus pits...

As does Elleker...

Which promotes Sheppard and Thomas back to 4th and 5th...

Jalving pits for the second time and exits 10th...

and gets out just in front of his team mate...

Another replay involcing Pedersen. Surely he hasnt gone off again...

That would be a yes...

So here we are on lap 34...

Pedersen did manage to get going again, but is now a lap down in 19th! He must see this as a wasted opportunity...he was on for a good points finish...

Greenhalgh is now miles ahead...

Both Hinz and Hunsley have done well today...

Both MPR's 9th and 10th...

Johnson has managed to keep his cool and is now 12th, a points paying position....

Just to underline his dominance...Greenhalgh sets a new fastest lap....

Johnson continues to defend, but why is that marshall holding a yellow flag?

The MPR is off...

Jalving spins...

He manages to get going...

Johnson locks up...is this it!

no it isn't...

Cartwright has been backed up in this situation...

Not long left now...

Greenhalgh starts his last lap...

And Ed Greenhalgh wins the San Marino grand prix...but whats that noise? It must be the sound of the chisel that trophy maker is using to engrave his name on this years championship trophy. Surely he can't be beaten now...

Greidanus and Aleksander finish off the podium places...

Sheppard and Thomas come home 4th and 5th...

The two MAC cars come home 7th and 8th

Maverick and Kittleson come home 9th and 10th

So well done again to Ed Greenhalgh for winning the San Marino Grand Prix. The results tables for the race will be up soon, I need to re-run the race to get them because FRAPS failed.

GET IN!!! For once everything fell into place and we managed to take home a good chunk of points. Hopefully this is a sign that we will improve from here on out :)

how did Somogyi crash?
wohooo!!!
great race for mac, that boost really paid off. well done everyone

used to be GPGSL's Nick Heidfeld
That's so frustrating. I should have brought home a podium here with the pace I had. But Mrs. Fortune wasn't on my side this time again.

god damn it!!!! =/ sorry to the team for that poor result from me!
Glad to see Jack keept it on the track.
Great result for TSS today!! Double podium makes us the highest scoring team this weekend. Great way to say thank you to Subaru for all their years of loyal service. Thanks Ruben and Marko for performing today.

Great strategy from the team, gained a lot of places after my stop, made up for my poor qualifying

Apologies I missed it. I do need to reload the save file to get the results screen so I'll see if I can catch it.

Could you then maby also have a look at what Rodriguez did? He went from 12th before his stop to 19th, almost a lap down, just thereafter..

First post has been updated with some minor information, mostly recent driver changes.

And that falling back in the pits seemed to be rather common.

I guess best of the rest is the most achievable.

I'm a total dick. How many people can say that?
Well done boys, a great haul of points for the team. Keep up the hard work.

great that we got the team points win. As for my performance i was xpecting to compete for top spot here with drivers boost. A podium is a podium i guess and good recovery from my mistakes early in the race.

Another poor race for MPR

Really, this race I also managed not being last ...

Fantastic result! More nice memories on the track that I kicked my Season 6 championship campaign into gear.

Obviously track position is key on this track, so qualifying and the race start was essential for a great result. A pity for John that he couldn't fight for the win and maybe make it a 1-2 for the team.

By the way, sorry for the texture errors on this track (all the white patches in the grass), I forgot to correctly update the track in the trackpack it seems. I'll fix it if we return to Imola in the future.
