Hotlaps Season 5It's been away for a while, but the GP4 Central hotlapping competition is back today.
The competition is a casual, offline hotlapping series open to all GP4 players. It's super easy to participate, so head over to
www.gp4central.com and join us.
Follows the real F1 seasonUsing the GP4 Central 2018 Mod, pre-season testing starts today at Barcelona, with one more testing event scheduled before the start of the season. Then we will follow the real F1 circus over the first 8 rounds of the real season from Melbourne to Paul Ricard.
No penaltiesThere are no performance-leveling penalties this season. We're keeping it simple and straight-forward; just all-out hotlapping over 10 rounds in the fastest ever GP4 Central cars!
You've signed for every team...However, I have introduced one new rule which should spice up the competition a bit - competitors may only use each team car once during the season. So you can't just hop into a Mercedes every round, you'll have to use all the cars if you compete in all rounds! You'll need to plan your strategy across the season, and think about which cars will best suit each track. Use the
2018 Form Guide to help you decide.
Bernie's MedalsMr Eccelstone had some pretty awful ideas during his time in charge of real F1, but I actually thought his
proposed medal system was a good one, so we're going to use it instead of awarding traditional points this season.
Bring your own .wadOne other idea I will be trialing this season is the "bring your own .wad" concept.
The .wad file is the track's graphical environment, and (by far) the largest file for each track. During Season 5, participants will be provided all the files they need for each track, but sometimes I'll leave out the .wad, and instead recommend where to find it elsewhere. This will allow me to create track packs of minimal size and keep them up-to-date more easily. We'll see if the concept works during the season.
