GPGSL Season 6 Complete!

Posted by GPGSL
The SMD-ZG02 is in, the W300 shape is now retired from the league. Two more shapes and there will be a choice of four shapes for S7. I'm guessing Maikel will upload the 02 package to P1 when it is good for final release.
Voting for the S7 tracks will open some time next week, if you want a particular track, you must vote for it. Melbourne and Silverstone are already in. Singapore is not permitted due to a sour grapes permission problem. The GPGSL will post the voting details, duration etc. soon. :-)

I will have a look around this week to see whether I can 'easily' change something of the radiator intake - it was designed to go with the original mirrors which made the triangular effect be less visible, but now that it's in the open it's also more in the eye.
It would cause pretty some remapping though - but for this first version I already remapped quite some parts of the car that, that shouldn't be a problem ;)

Just for 'info', this new version took me 3 days to make (not full days off course, I actually HAVE a job ;) ;)) Thats including: Mapping, Shaping, Template update, Lower Lods

EDIT:// PS Dan, don't be afraid to send some 'modified' models over, always good to see the wireframes under 3D rotation mode ^^

If you are racing, keep on racing and get some points!

When there is a choice for 4 shapes, hopefully the 2 extra shapes will be the 2 variations of the SMD-ZG01 shape by Dan. So you can keep the same cockpit shape.

The SMD-ZG02 looks good. I've got a another thing which you may wanna add to the car: side pot wings, for example:
Ugh, no! They're the most horrible parts of a modern F1 car.

Unless I'm very much mistaken... I am very much mistaken!
+1

Keep the car clean!

Same for Fuji, Kyalami, Donington etc. unfortunately.

Since the last season, we do have tracks such as Valencia (Ricardo Tormo) and Abu Dhabi released, as well as tracks in the 1980s and 1990s trackpacks such as Paul Ricard, Jerez, Mexico City etc..

This J Caranti business - I do not see why we can't use the track whatsoever.

There is an easy and obvious solution. We have a trackpack that contains the taboo tracks that only the race director can use. Only the RD has access to it, or compiles it. Whatever.

Then the public release of our carset/trackpack just doesn't include them.

That gets around the 'you cant include it in your set' rubbish.

There is neither a law nor a line in the track info re: usage requiring anyone using it to ask permission for driving it.

Releasing it in its own download, yes, I see the issue.

But one RD using the track and running a race is the same as any other single person downloading and racing on it.

I think we all need to universally see the sillyness of this, and stick a finger up to the stupidity.

It is utterly ridiculous, and void of any argument.

I can download the track right now. Race it. Post screenies.

So why can't I download the latest perf file. Run the GPGSL carset. And use my computer with my downloaded track and run a GPGSL race and publish the same screenies as any other of you can also do?

Honestly guys, its about time a stand was made to this sort of nonesense. The track is a freeware download.

Totally agree with that.

I'd like to see TI Aida, the old versions of Imola and Hockenheim, Pasargada or Uqbar and Brno.

Some mods

I agree completely Dan, but I'll leave the final decision up to the GPGSL staff.

guys I've been reading every post about the carshapes, and I have a question for you all:

is there any need to use 4 different versions of Maikel's SMD-ZG01?I mean, the official versions(SMD-ZG01 and the upcoming ZG02) are pretty fine, and the latter seems quite fine with Dan's concept to me.

I don't say that because I want to see my car in.I didn't model it for this purpose, and who saw the first pic on my fb account knows that.I've been posting some pics as some guys suggested me to do that.

Also,GPGSL has always had two shapes, any need to add two more cars that might be useless?I mean, which parts might be different for every version?do you need two more shapes for a new nose cone(4 version of a nose cone?)or new wings(4 versions for a wider-shorter one?)?;)

I didn't understand... Is there some tracks that couldn't chosen for championship, is it???

Yes, due copyright issues.

Don't you guys think it'll add more realism if we only vote for tracks currently in use? I mean, I like the pre-94 Imola, which Tobias suggested, but since it's not available, wouldn't it be quite strange to use it? Same goes for pre-01 Hockenheim, a track I absolutely love and I will never stop loving. Brno is a good choice, and as I said before, use the 2010 layout for Silverstone. I know I asked for Singen, a street course now dissapeared and even unavailable for GP4, but it's something I've started thinking today.

And I partially agree with Paolo, four shapes is too much. Bring the ZG02 and let's wait and see what Paolo's shape looks like, if it's not good then we can use a modified ZG02.

Stats: 139 Starts / 7 Wins / 9 Poles / 5 Fastest laps
But it is not a valid reason, and as such, we are missing out.

We can download, install and run our mod of cars. We can download one of Jorge's tracks and install that too. We can also combine the two and have them driving around one of J Carantis tracks, without a problem. I could post a screenshot in the thread of any GPGSL car at such a track. No problems.

But if we decide to make a post in the GPGSL thread that shows a GPGSL car driving on one of Jorge's tracks, people $hit their pants.

I am sorry but it is an utterly pointless battle to even contemplate fighting.

You can do one thing, yet you can't do that as well.

It is a case of Jorge throwing a strop because he isn't part of this any more. If he can't be part of it, then he thinks he has the ability to spite us by not having something every other person in the world is allowed.

I am sorry to go so offtopic, but he releases things for everyone else, but the only people 'not allowed' are just a collective group of people who post in the same message thread. Outside this thread, we can use it.

Come on guys, can you not see the stupidity of it?

Heck, you can rename the race to be the 'Asian Grand Prix'.

it didn't change from the last pics I posted time ago.
