Gilson in Italy


New TafuroGP test driver Joseph Gilson, today visited his new team's factory base near Brindisi in the south of Italy, ahead of his debut GPGSL event at the Monaco Grand Prix. After a tour of the Italian team's HQ, he then met with team staff, and engineers.

"I've had a great day meeting the team, and seeing the factory." said Gilson, just before leaving the site, "I have a good feeling about starting my GPGSL career here at TafuroGP, looking forward to driving in Monaco."

Christel VXR Complete Season 6 Lineup

This afternoon Christel VXR boss Chris Copeman called a press conference to confirm the full lineup for teams first season in the GPGSL. Standing between new signings Jack Elleker and Rico Van Smirren Chris Copeman was in a jubilant mood. "I am delighted to have finally been able to complete the lineup for our first season. Jack moves over from TSS and will take the other race seat in our team to partner Juliano Muller. Rico moves over from testing at his own team to take up a test driver role at Christel...and I'm going in the other direction." When asked about the logic in swapping places with another team boss Copeman commented that, "actually it makes a lot of sense. Rico is experienced and knows what he is doing. We have a good working relationship and his expertise will be invaluable in what is likely to be a difficult first season."

When asked about his hopes for the first season Chris was somewhat cautious. "I'm not going to stand here and say we are going to win races because as a new team it will be hard...but we have a young and talented lineup. Our focus will be determined from race to race. At race one it will be to get both cars to the finish. And we will move on from there. Our focus at the moment is to get the car ready and start testing. Which we can now look to do towards the end of this season."

side point though, does being tester #1 mean that i get an odd numbered car or an even numbered car? im not quite sure...

but anyway glad to be testing alongside Rico, and hopefully beating his own cars

Testers have their own numbers(24 and 25,26 and 27,etc.)


Ricardo sucks as tester,not so difficult to beat him

ah so tester 1 has an even numbered car! (24/26/28 etc...), all is good! i think.

ah well he has more points than me at the moment . not that thats hard...

i've never been successful,neither got a win in this series,just a mid-low field driver with some rare exploits in the top places

Statement Ricardo van Smirren

"I'm very happy to be part of the new up and coming Christel VXR team. To me personally being a teamboss its not really about my personal driving career anymore but more about fun and making use of my experience for those who need it. As Chris said we have a good working relationship and so i am very happy to keep that up.

I want to thank Chris for this, and i'm very happy to keep him onboard of VSM aswell, he's doing great as a racing driver for us now at this moment and his feel for the car will probarly help the drivers for next year.

@Mirko, dont start listening to Paolo, his sole motivation will be to sabotage my performance and thus Christel VXR...
Also he's very dangerous, rumours are he has ties with the maffia in italy....

nah in all honesty i cant expect much from this season, just learning the ropes and maybe grab a point by luck somewhen, tis just good to be involved

good luck in everycase the important is that you don't listen Van Smirren's bullshits.Just look at the tdc and see how he's going and you understand why he accuses me of sabotaging his carhe can't admit he was just too lucky in S3 and that was the cause of his 3 wins

@Paolo, For me, this year was just to understand the car and give input to the drivers, in the case with John and Chris it seems to work out pretty damn fine !

give imput to the drivers?if that was true your team would be lastthe truth is that John and Chris are good enough to avoid that,but if it was depending from your input...
