For the record, I'm not Geoff. Geoff is Geoff.
I got a pm from him this morning, and site rules prevent me from disclosing the contents of pm's so neener neener neener! He's seen the thread and apparently he's not amused, I'm up to my neck in the proverbial brown stuff for now. hot

Hey Geoff. Been playing GP4 for years, since about '97, when my dad got GP3. I still play it now and will do for a long time!

I started way back with the original Grand Prix - even back than it was ahead of it's time. I hope and pray for a GP5 one day.

Hi Geoff

Can you maybe teach me/give me some tips on the parts, e.g. the physics on which you specialised in game programming? If I could program half as good as you I'd be pretty astonishing.

That said, I'd like to take your ideas and expand on them and become a world leader as a gaming programmer. No, I haven't got any GAMING programming experience yet, but my base of programming will help a lot.

And this is not a way to ask for the source code, it's simply an ambition I would like to fulfill.

I may not even get an answer, but I am really hoping to learn from the master. Your fan since 1997(GP2).

Cheers

Hi Geoff,

there 's no need to share the source code.

Just register here with 5, 10, or ... as many accounts you want, and start releasing modding files, patches, even some modded GP4.exe files, to make the game adjustable according to the rules changes of F1 and today's gaming needs.
e.g. add the "internet play"
make the number of teams and tracks per season a setup option,
... and quite many more, I' m sure you know well from CSM - TSM and from worldwide forums.

Give GP4 the boost it needs to become the racing sim of the century and let the gaming industry stand wondering...
After all, GP4 deserves it.

LOL for those questions regarding Source Code... Are you really programmers??? That program will have thousands of hard-code lines... that's not like...

MAX CARS=10
...and change that to 11. That's hilarious.

For me, the only question will be... why on earth did you included those terrible suspensions (where only wheels move, not the brake disc) and those crappy 2D arms and wheels...??

This isn't a question, but I'm wondering whether Geoff is taking anything said here with even the remotest consideration...

First: thank you so much for this increadible game (GP4) and series (GPx)! As a brazilian fan I like so much this F1 game (best ever).

Some questions for "the master Geoff":
- Why "2d arms"?
- Why not an internet play (limitations for the time of the release)?
- Could you tell us some "trick" that is simple and anyone don't made yet for GP4?
- Why you "disappeared" from the scene of the Formula 1 games?
- Why you don't like "MOD's" for you great GP4?

And finally: You come back one day?

Thanks again! :-)

Thanks raulongo for pi.s.s.ing him off, now we never get the source code from him.

Yeah and while we're at it, after he's done completely reprogramming the game for us, he could come round and do the dishes...

Give the guy a break.

I can tell you now, doing any dishes is out of the question.
Geoff will reply, I got a pm this morning, he is at the moment considering his responses, given that I have tossed him in the deep end and he's not amused. :-(

can't understand why he's not amused, he should be lucky to see that his game is still a beloved number one game all over the years and there's still no end to give it up ;). And for me it's clear, that all the ppl who like this great game, want's to have it nearly perfect, like a sim should be. Geoff started a great racingsim series long time ago and i'm one of the guys who started with gp1. For me there'll be no better f1 game. I'm sure, there are many other guys all over the world, who think i my way, you can see it in this thread. GP4 isn't dead and i'm sure it won't be for still a long time. Geoff started with a great idea long time ago and all the great modders like Tony, Fongu, Bojan, Öggo a.s.o. keep this dream alive. So Geoff could build a team with the best guys and give us what we're waiting for already for years, so that we all can be lucky at the end. That's my opinion :)
