I really hope you are serious and not just joking around here with this news. This is awesome. It would be the first time Geoff speaking to us besides the rumors that he doesn't like the unofficial mods.

Will you be allowed to show us the response or at least to sum it up in a few words? I'm excited about his feelings about the community.

As for the questions... I'm pretty sure that none of those ideas will be realized. :( He just simply cannot update the game officially without his team and the company's approval - and none of those exist today. ... A question popped up inside me finally:

Why on Earth had you got to quit making the Grand Prix series??

At first: Thank you for this great game and series :-)

Second: It is possible to add more teams, tracks and the knockout qualyfing by you?
We have all tools to make the game better and better. The great GP4Builder by Laurent, 3D-Moddel programms and so on.
But the only thing which we can't do, is to add more teams, tracks, and the new qualyfing. But the new qualyfing isn't so important for me, but more teams and tracks, that would be nice! :)

i hope geoff reads all posts and gets a little amused about the "wet-dreams" we have -- the source code...

but serious guys, i don´t think with the code we can do too much, or it will take a long time to be able to bring a stable edited gp4.exe.

geoff, for some kind of reason i can understand why you don´t like getting your sim edited (and everybody talking about leeching etc. in that forum should understand this, too).
but it was/is the only way for us to keep gp4 updated and alive (after all this years it is still alive) !
i think geoff, you can admit, with this tools and options we had, we made a good job with modding your simulation. and yes in some ways it was even looking better than the original (e.g. gpxpatch, tweaker).

maybe you can just consider:
will you ever make a successor of gp4 or not ? will it be based on the gpx-series code ? you like to be a bit "more amused" with the mods, or modding ?

i don´t know how much spare time you have, but with a little effort you could bring some tools or editors for changing this or that (like the number of teams and tracks, better physics editing, better flag rules, explanation for missing magic-data values...).
or just to release gp4 as finished as you wanted to have it, without the pressure of infogrames...

if there is a legal-issue, preventing you from releasing something for gp4, we will find a way...

i think after all this years we tried to keep gp4 the jewel of f1-simulations, it should be the time for stopping being sour and try starting a dialog with your fans and bring gp4 to the next level.
the fans, the creator and the simulation deserve that.

matt.

btw: just see over all this "gimme-the-source-code" screams (sorry guys), but i don´t know if many people out there can handle the code without making things worse.
if there are some (got some in my mind... (H) ), maybe there is a way to create some contact between them and geoff... ;)

Well said, I was about to post along the same lines. :)

The requests in this thread were certainly not intended to be offensive, but rather a credit to your game that people still want to improve it and still use it many years after its creation.

:( I hope you know how many people you have disappointed with that reply. We worship you and we just want to keep GP4 alive forever, in YOUR honor - it's your legacy man!

I guess it's your life and you may decide what to do with it, but we still love GP4!

What a shame. I wish we could at leat find a compromise with the man in order to at least sort out the existing bugs in the game - but now it will remain like the image he's left with that post: tainted...(@)

EDIT: That is, IF it's really you.

nope....sorry jorge thats not me......like the rest of the gp4 fan boys i'd like to think geoff visits here to check whats being done with his work
mod wise etc....if i could ask the real geoff one question it would be a request to check through his files & see if he still has the tools he made the .dat files with .....the tracks were made in 3ds max so the seperate tool or plugin would generate / build from this to create a working .dat file.........this would be my request.....

happy christmas.......

wouldn't have thought so....even if he did register the site it wouldn't make sence to use his real name..
he'd be swamped with pm's for one thing :)

i didn't start posting here till 2005 if i remember rightly.......

i'm sticking with my earlier if i could ask geoff question.....

" check through his files & see if he still has the tools he made the .dat files with .....the tracks were made in 3ds max so the seperate tool or plugin would generate / build from this to create a working .dat file.........this would be my request..... "

I just read all Geoff's 11 posts in this site since he registered, each one in its topic.
I have to say I wouldn't be surprised if it 's really him.

Well, it finishes in beauty seven years of awaiting for a possible new game. An Era of computer racing has ended.
We just have to pray for Codemaster to give us something close enough to a simulation. I woudn't bet too much on it but who knows ?

It's an honour anyway to finaly cross the path of the maker of the game for which I dedicated my free time coding tools for 7 years (and still quite enjoy it) and congratulations for having raised the racing games bar so high with each new game. We will never be able to thank you enough for having brought all the GP games to life.
